This is why I will call for Rikti EATs every time. I'd be content with Hardsuit costume options and the like. But a Rikti body type? With the armour and options? Hell yeah.
And they have not just one but two story lines available to them; Traditionalist and Restructurist. Hero and Villain. There is so much room for exploration of the Rikti back story that it's amazing it's not been looked at more before.
Really hope we one day do see a Rikti EAT.
Projected satisfaction percentage: 110%

The closest isnt actually a blue, for the glowy armour, its a shade of teal.
Resistance armour is one I really wish there was a 'default' skin option that over-rode the colours with the NPC ones. Because it's nigh impossible to replicate.
Trial and error, really =/ especially since the Resistance aren't in AE yet, sadly. -
Quote:Except that IOs aren't required to play the game. The baseline has been stated multiple times as being SOs. IOing takes quitea considerable investment in time and inf to get results. Doubly so with Incarnates by the sound of things.Am I the only one that looks on I20 with a bit of apprehension? With IOs, toons are as overpowered (peraps more so) as they were before the Global Defense Nerf and Enhancement Diversification. Adding inherent stamina and the incarnate system may make it seem even more unbalanced.
I won't be surprised to see some 'balancing' in issue 20. Not doomsaying here, just a bit of trepidation; GDN and ED were painful.
So the base-game as it is isn't changing. The baseline is SOs. The baseline has people taking fitness anyway. Now they just have much more diverse build options (something the Devs have commented on wanting when they tweaked the PPPs, because people 'not taking certain powers "just because" was a bad thing.').
IOs and Incarnates are not, nor should be, the base level of the game. -
It does happen. Sometimes it doesnt. It works best on teams, where you may not get the last bit of exp from the boom, but then a team-mate gets you the last bit.
When it does sync perfectly, though, it is a very satisfying feeling

Quote:And they will continue to be laughed at by the majority of RPers on Union with the exception of those that are RPed incredibly carefully and well. I was lucky enough to take part in a plot run by a player I consider to be one of the best RPers to grace Union. One of his characters 'Avatar' form could, arguably, pimp slap Statesman around quite consierably. However the control and ability with plot writing that the guy displayed made it not only believable but also work within the Paragonverse. It helped that it was a SG centric plot, but even then it was only the fact it was incredibly well played that meant not a single person had a complaint. There's a few things I'd like to point out to the Unionverse, however: A) Players can and constantly will continue to make toons that can easily overpower Statesman as a level 53 AV 1v1. The devs have clearly stated States is the most powerful NPC in CoH lore? OK, well, now we're talking about player-characters. Just because States or LR are the stated 'most-powerful' NPCs in CoH/CoV doesn't mean they're always going to be the hands down most powerful CHARACTERS in the game. Especially with the Incarnate system on the horizon.
With Incarnates? Who knows. We'll see when we get there.
We've been through this. Union has had wide scale events before. The issues that were raised have not only been done to death, they've also been resolved. /EndQuote:B) In any RP environment, players, and most notably the GMs running an RP plot, should honestly be allowed to introduce a wide-scale event. If the players aren't allowed to do so in an RP environment, then what's the point? I certainly don't see the point of having a bunch of level 50 characters running around saving kittens out of trees.
Agreed. Theres no point having World-saving level Heroes in a plot designed for those that break up drug rings and the like.Quote:C) The GMs of any RP event should be able to place limits upon players participating in their events. This is only to make it fair for ALL involved in an RP event.
See BQuote:D) In a shared-world RP environment such as the Unionverse one, perhaps the more emotive or outrageous of any wide-scale events should be handled ... by more experienced GMs, or put up for a majority vote for all players involved in the shared-world RP to decide.
For those that want to introduce their own wide-scale RP events? Make it a closed RP type of thing or use the AE system if you can. Plus, these people can always collaborate
with others to present a well thought out plotline. Even if the plotline presents players with an atrocious, wide-scale event such as CB's. In which case the author/authors of such a plot should put it up to a vote of all involved in the shared-world experience. -
Quote:Broadsword has a Cone, a PbAoE and an 'attack through' tier 9 that can hit 2-3 targets if placed well.so does this mean you are going to post how katana and BS and ninja blade have no ranged attacks and very little aoe and try to have them changed to?
Katana, see above.
Spines has a crapton of AoE, and ranged AoE. Quills, the spine explosion, Impaler. And Ripper, which is a cone.
Claws has a PbAoE, Eviscerate which is a high power cone, Focus which is high power and ranged, and Shockwave, which is a ranged cone.
Dark has a cone, a PBAoE mass stacking +hit and +damage attack, a self heal...etc.
Elec has a cone, Thunderstrike AoE and Lightning Rod, which is its own mini-nuke.
Kin has a ranged cone, PbAoE and a high damaged range attack.
Fire has a ranged cone and a high power PbAoE
DB has a PbAoE and both it's tier 8 and tier 9 are cones.
SS has Footstomp and Hurl, both of which are known for their lethality.
Axe and Mace both have a PbAoE, 'pass through' attack and a tier 9 cone.
Ice Melee has a cone and what is actually a footstomp clone but it has sleep instead of KB, and a KB patch and a melee hold, because Ice likes to be special like that.
Stone has Hurl boulder and Tremor.
So, in fact, the only other set that is on 'par' with Energy Melee is Martial arts...and what a surprise, that's the other set that gets complained about a lot.
So...what was that counter arguement again? -
It means my Fire/Fire blaster is going to get deadly a lot earlier, rather than having to faff around playing power req tetris.
-
Make TF AoE. Same as Thunderstrike and stuff. Having the Tier 9 power be Single target, cost that much endurance, and be that damn slow is just...it's painful.
Make it an AoE for pity sakes, and buff whirling hands. -

Quote:Well, I look. Every time. And they are still a PITA.I don't accept that because it isn't true if you pay the slightest amount of attention. And I *do* play them at all levels, not just my 50s. I'm not running an "IO'd/tweaked build." Yes, there's the chance of an unlucky roll -you get that with everything.
Just running into a group without looking? Might as well run a level 5 anything up, solo, and take a swipe at an AV. Just don't complain about the result afterward.
So we're just going to have to agree to disagree. -
Quote:Except that Rikti are Science originActually a Rikti EAT would fit perfectly into the mutation origin. Think about it, some of the Rikti in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles are former members of the Lost faction who have been mutated first from human to Lost and then all the way to Rikti. Once again both sides work because we have the traditionalist split. Or another path is that you regain your human mind and resume what would have been your alignment inclination before your mutation. Either way story line could be to start off with trying to save other Lost from sharing your fate then move on to helping put Trolls into rehab, move up to stopping the superadine trade by taking down the family and finnally maybe have a negotiations gone wrong mission on the Rikti Homeworld (cutscenes and all).
the drug that changes the lost is a Rikti mutagen made by Rikti Scientists.
But having Traditionalists and Restructurists would be awesome.
Oh, and Bill;
You mean the 'extra' mob that actually replaces one of the normal mobs in the spawn?Quote:How about not? I like getting the extra XP from getting extra mobs in a spawn. That's pretty much all Qs/Vs are these days.
And I really hate it when people just scoff like Quants and Voids are nothing. At lower levels and if you don't have a -KB Io, Quants and Voids can be bloody lethal, since they have an insanely high KB chance, and they are ready to fire again by the time you get back on your feat. LT Voids and above are just plain nasty. Sure, they may no longer one shot you, but it's a damn close call. Oh, and thats before the chance to Stun too.
And Cysts. Don't talk to me about Cysts. -
Quote:I call BS on this. Sorry, but there is no way that this is NOT god-moding the entire Unionverse. Now to say CB's plot forces others to react is not true, just like the current GG Find Annette plot does not force other players to react. Yes CB's plot would cause a massive counter strike, but there are plenty of reasons for any character to treat it a a backgorund News story, given the vast number of heroes comparde to villains its unlikely that there would be enough bits of the Court to go around.
And before i get shouted at, YES i agree Tomb would become deadmeat, yes the US airforce would be bombing villains into the stone age, and yes its the sort of plot i would avoid like the plague.
However if CB's plot is world News , would not a private Spacestation, run by a group of US based Supers not also be world news ? and would it not have a world wide reaction by other power groups, and nations .
Finally, and i think this is important, CB is out there making plots that allow ANYONE to become involved in, if they wish to, what ever other faults they may have, that must be a good thing, can other say the same of there RP and plotage ?
2,996. Thats the number of casualties from the 9/11 attack. In the real world, that sparked off a series of conflicts that are still going on as we type. The St Johns attack was originally 2000 children, arguably just as bad as nearly 3k of mostly adults.
A private space station is easy to avoid or not know about. High tech cloaking devices. Government silencing orders and FBSA secrecy measures. Or simply the fact that, given we have alien invaders and super science tech on Paragon earth, a mere space station isn't all that out of the ordinary.
2k of dead school children is a big deal. It would result in a massive fallout. Yes, everyone would be involved, wether they liked it or not, because there would be no room NOT to join into something so massive. It's strongarming and god-moding everyone. There are no two ways about it.
And as the person who ran Operation Escalation, yes, yes I can say that my plots can do that too. -
Quote:We're not arguing that.OH I get the idea. As to my RP thing, well it's mostly kept to the forums, due to game mechanics and other limitations that have been pointed out. On top of all that I have severe altitis, having over 160 toons in-game already.
I was merely attempting to point out several vialble alternatives for the Unionverse RP populace. It felt as if quite a few actually took offence at such alternatives because of the entire "shared-world RP" of Union. That's all fine and dandy, but at the end of the day, if anyone really has taken the time, they can still build toons that can be on par with that of NPC heroes/villains, and technically anyone playing the game can still RP their toons as being equal to if not more, heroic/villainous than current in-game NPCs.
It's not 'game-breaking' or anything. It's just the way it is.
For example, part of my character Krimzon Commander's story is his hatred of Captain Mako, a hatred that is reciprocated in no small part due to Krimzon wearing one of Makos own teeth around his neck, having smacked him repeatedly in the face.
This is entirely possible in game. I ran Makos patron arc and, lo and behold, ground the slimy little fish into pulp on the floor.
What we have here is along the lines of me saying Krimzon tore Makos arm off. Which is clearly utter BS. Its not doable in game. Its also god-moding the entire Unionverse into saying everyone else has to acknowledge that Mako only has one arm, and that Krimzon was thge one to do it.
Is that clear enough? -
Quote:[Walk]Well because since day 1 they have never given us something just because. I cant think of a single instance of them giving us something for nothing like with this stamina change. I am pretty sure we are going to have some penalty for this. Either increased power costs or sappers at level 2, its going to be one or the other.
Enough said.
Heck, every new zone and bit of content they have given us 'just because'. And niether of the examples you give makes any sense. Whats the blimmin' point of making a QoL change only to add something in to counteract it? -
-
Quote:There is not enoughI totally agree.
Just spend an entire issue doing NOTHING but revamping the zones and missions and whatnot to match the quality of Praetoria. And what would this issue be called?
Issue 20: Reincarnate.

in the universe for my reply to this. Please, let it happen. -
Quote:Villains are perfectly allowed. I proved that with Operation Escalation.I just hoped some people would be able to except a villain that is actually roleplayed by someone and that can give some feedback in plans or effects. Or are villains not allowed to join in forum rp? Are they to be monitored and controlled? Control that which should be impossible to control?
Anyway.. end conclusion here is that we have a group of rp-ers on Union that love the comic book extreme in hero and villain plots.. and a group that is tight but mostly are only rp-ing about school events and relationships. And they are willing to ignore the extreme part of the rp community on Union for that reason.
So be it!
What isn't accepted is stuff that basically strongarms people into situations they don't want to be in. This is still a game, and still a story. It's as much a story that belongs to other players as to ourselves.
The way the event was originally, there was only one logical outcome; The utter anihilation of the Court and all it's members. That also strongarms the game world into a responce we simply can't create in game.
Was everyone in the Court asked if they'd be happy to have their toons their hunted down by civil powers with a lot of backing?
It was still pretty big evil, it was a freaking corrupted Kronos Titan. But it got toned down for a number of reasons, all of them sensible. -
Quote:It's not that you don't like it. It's just the counter arguements are so incredibly weak.Sorry :P I guess this is the one release everyone loves. I shouldn't say anything bad about it. Sorry again.
Hell, I don't PvP except for once in a blue moon, and I still think I13 was terrible. I'm also an RPer, and I also like to devise quite obscene builds (Perma-Hasten Nightwidow. People in my SG demanded I post the build on our forums as proof
)
So, it's not people going "GTFO, we don't like doom, praise the devs yaaaay!!"
It's people being thankful they no longer have to play the power equivelant of sidekick tetris just to be able to run missions on most characters. -

Without the quote; define 'right'. Because I can guarentee someone else will disagree with that one person will call 'right'. -
Quote:So...it made min/maxing more of a 'challenge' for a very small percentage of the game population, while making it a pain in the rear for everyone else, consumed three power slots and an entire 1 of the 4 power pools your allowed per char.Nothing makes the game harder. It just limited slotting/power choices on min/max builds. I really want to see the toons I can make now, it's going to be too easy :\
I used to think it was dumb, but now I could enjoy dr in pve.
I...it....
*shrug* -
Quote:What hurdle? You mean the one entitled 'You HAVE to take these powers, consuming three power slots at fairly inconvenient levels, JUST to function on a normal level without insane reliance on a pet-stock of blues, massive End-red slotting and insane IO usage right up until 50'?I don't know though, as much as im trying not to "tell people who to play" (which i didn't think i was, just stating that the game is very *very* easy) I really don't like this change. yes, endurance management was annoying but atleast it was a hurdle that needed to be dealt with, either via build or insp managment or whatever and added some small challenge to playing a character.
Sorry, but I call Bull-**** on that one. Even with Stamina three slotted with SOs, there are plenty of times I and people I've been teamed with have run low or out of endurance, for any number of reasons. I don't even want to think what they'd have been like without stamina.
I say this is a step in the right direction. I'm not going to get in a fight with people saying 'The game is too easy', because Im not in any position to judge that. You have your playstyle and builds, I have mine. As it should be. For me, however, this is a very good thing, and means I can now be more flexible with builds and arguably fit in powers I would, in the past, never have even considered due to lack of power slots. -
This. Sorry, but not everone can get purpled out builds to find +4/x8 easy. Even my level 50 MM, who's my highest slotted toon, still finds that just x8 can be a tad tough at times.
