We should put up giant statues for tourists to gock at.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Interesting...I have my own personal stalker on the forums.
  2. I think it would be great to add some tourist attractions to the game. Think Mount Rushmore but with Famous Heroes faces...or an amusement park...or a casino where we can actually gamble.

Years ago, I player Everquest and the introduced a casino that actually let you bid ingame money. Don't know if it's still there or not, but the same could be done here.

I always wanted a casino in my base for example.

The amusement park would make a good map too. I know there's a carneval with tents, but I'm talking ferris wheel and all.

A Zoo. An outdoor theater that shows the game videos.
  3. Create unique maps exclusively for MA that can be unlocked. Maps we won't see anywhere else.

    Ideas:
Interior of space ship in RWZ
    Rikti Homeworld Maps
    Lunar Maps
Ocean Bases with sea life seen through portals
    A Jungle Map
A Surfer beach map complete with big waves (tough one I know)

    Costume creator?

actualy, there couldnt be any copyright infringment.. the devs would have to reveiw and approve the designs first. so if the dev doesnt say it is good then it doesnt go in and no one, not even the builder of it can use it. once the devs say it is good they just release it as an optional patch or something. and on a similar note, a slight change in the models would be nice so that a catgirl could have short hair and NOT have human ears showing still.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Apparently you weren't here for the Marvel Lawsuit. YES, they DO have to monitor it.

Since they are making money from this product, EVERYTHING done with it must belong to them. If you create something which is clearly a rip of another company's work, NC still made money off it. Not that other company.

The only reason we have "wolverine claws" and other such items still in the game, is in large part due to the *reporting and eula-enforcement* removing the 'clones' in the game. If we didn't have those things to an adequate degree (which the judge in the case determined they did, that was one of the things thrown out of the full case since they claimed it DID adequately patrol/enforce) then how many things couldn't go in the creator?

Purple pants and green skin? Nope.

Red Blue and Yellow tights? Nope.

Basically, there is a good, legal and compelling reason why we have a EULA that's enforced in the game, and why there isn't a standalone offline creator.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And APPARENTLY you did not read what he just said. The DEVS would have to review all designs before they go live. So that would prevent infringement.

    BUT IT STILL WON'T WORK.
The Devs just don't have enough time.

Btw, OP...Frredom fore came out nearly a decade before CoH.

A good idea though would be a "Player -created Content Contest" once per year, where the Top 5-10 custome items are added to the game.

This would minimize the time investment for the Devs
  5. Only two things are needed to totally solve the spamming issue:

    1) Triple the ignore list size
    2) Allow for IP Banning instead of Global Banning

All these spammers keep making new accounts to do it, but if we IP Ban them, it would solve the problem.
  6. Is there anything you devs can do to reduce the lag on Freedom? It's gotten so much worse in the past couple of weeks. It's not server load...the thing is green atm and it's still happening.

Not my ISP or computer either. It's one of the recent patches. I've been thinking they would fix it, but it still hasn't happened.

Also...lately if I get Loss Connection and get booted to the login server, it won't let me get back on unless I exit and run the patcher (and it doesn't even verify files). Gives me the same message we see when the servers are down. I got a pic of it if anyone wants to see.
  7. Just completed the first mission...this is really well-done. Possibly the best I've seen.
  8. I play on Freedom, but I'm gonna play it just to see how you pull it off, lol.
  9. I only had my one other toon in the sg, so I just had him quit it...easier to get him a reinvite than promote. My new toon was given default leadership
  10. Maybe it's because I'm ready to pass out from lack of sleep, but can anyone tell me how to pass Super Leader rank to an offline member?
  11. I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, and I can't remember reading it in the FAQ (which doesn't surprise me after the work week I've had and the lack of sleep), but here's my question:

When it says Heroes can become villains, does this mean they can do so in "new zones" introduced by Going Rogue, are that we will actually get to take our characters into the formerly opposing zones?

For example, will I be able to take my Fire Kin into Nerva if his alignment changes enough?

On a slightly different note, if this is the case...shouldn't they just open up ALL powers to both heroes and villains? Because that is essentially what they are going to do.

    SERVERS DOWN???

Letting me on after like 8 tries.
  13. American_Angel

    SERVERS DOWN???

Was just switching toons to get my toon invited to an VG and won't let me log on???

    Tried patching and everything.

  14. hmmmn...a sequence of events...like collect "A" in front of mission...Collect "B" in middle of mission, then use "C" to combine them.

Is that what you guys mean?

One of mine broke, because the devs removed the Burning Forest map. And I do not remember seeing it in the patch notes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's nice...we earn it with tickets and they take it from us. That explains why my first arc stopped working.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Sorry if this has been noted before; I don’t frequent this forum that much and didn’t see anything similar in the first few pages:

With the badge system being changed, the score system in MA seems to be the only “messed up” feature of the AE. Even without badges it’s very likely the star griefers will still be around. What I propose is to remove the star system entirely in favor of play through stats.

Make some sort of popularity score based on how many people play and finish the arc combined with total deaths inside the arc, with two divisions: lifetime and within last month. Ticket rewards for the author should be based purely on how many missions are finished but only if the arc is finished.

The idea is to give the browser only two things to see:
<ul type="square">[*]How many people are willing to go through the full thing (this many note the thing is so fun that even if it’s hard people opt to complete it.)
[*]It let’s the player know how many death’s per run are to be expected. Breaking it down by AT would be even cooler (people die in average 2 per run, and blasters die in average 5 per run, tankers don’t die at all per run, etc) only displaying the AT you are playing at the moment.[/list]
If I understand right, the goal of the MA is not to farm rewards but to aim to make an arc people enjoy while allowing players to know what they are getting into. These two stats would be way more useful than arbitrary star systems.

The star system could remain as a personal record, not a public average.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Griefing would still be easy here. Simply start and quit to give bad ratings.

I say simply don't rate them. Period. List hte most recently played or published ones first. If an arc is popular, it will remain at the top.

    Easy, right?

No ratings at all. No griefing at all.

EDIT: As far as Dev Choice...I don't care for it. It's supposed to show us great missions, but not all of them are.

  17. [ QUOTE ]
OK having looked over Heaven's Agent's review of the arc, and seeing what ludicrous things he's docking stars for, I'm absolutely convinced he's just a troll - nobody can actually be this petty and overanalytical and be serious about it.

Some highlights include (paraphrased, and this is only a handful of them):
    "Arc had too many commas"
"Arc did not go in depth to explain every nuance of Red Shift's time travel plugging all possible interpretations of it against possible plot holes by over analysis of the arc"
    "Arc contained time travel"
    "Arc contained 'clones'"
"Arc had clues that were fun, instead of adding to the plot"
"Red Shift was not a lieutenant"
"Red Shift's name was coloured red in text"
"Red Shift casts speed boost on his party members"
"Contact addresses the ally you have to escort out of the map, but that ally isn't physically in the AE building when you exit the mission"
    "Mission goal text isn't orange"
"1960s Paragon isn't destroyed don't use the destroyed Atlas map" (Ignoring the whole fact that you're being shown an alternate history on this map)
"Map uses council empire map, council empire didn't exist at time depicted" (Ignoring the whole fact that you're being shown an alternate history on this map)
"Map says 'find mysterious benefactor and take them out' instead of 'defeat Dr. Aeon'"
"Map uses Dr. Aeon instead of a custom brand new enemy"
"Contact summarizes what happened in a mission after the mission ends"
"Mission with the Red Shift time duplicates deserves 0 stars by itself because there is no challenge on it"
"Last mission on the arc exists at all"

...in other words, he sounds like the most bitter, petty, pendantic, anal rententive person to play/review content you can pretty much find, anywhere. Several complaints were either really tenuous/stretch/grasping at straws, were asking him to change things in a way that's actually completely impossible to do in the MA, or weren't actual critiques, simply zrbitrarily docked marked for perfectly valid content because it doesn't fit some arbitrary criteria he seems to have made up on the spot (ie 'I don't like this colour of text' or 'I don't like time travel')

    [/ QUOTE ]

On the bright side...reading those quotes makes me want to try your arc. I love the name in red thing, lol. I get it

    WTF is hover sniping? lol

    [/ QUOTE ]
Imagine a Blaster that's simply hovering around (which not only enables them to stay away of the melee NPC's range, but also grants a minor +DEF) and uses their Snipe attack, or just their ranged attack-chain. Basically, such a Blaster would be at no risk what-so-ever, and would be able to take down anything in a mission as long as they would stay away from the NPC's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *raises hand*

I've done it in the past...years ago when I first started playing I had a defender that died all the time. So I juiced up his sniping power and became a patient sniper.

...no wonder it took so long to get to 50...

    ...on another toon...

...the good news is that defends hit 42 this year!
  19. If I knew how to capture video in this game, I wouldn't mind giving a couple tries at the video reviews myself, to be honest. COuld never make a regular commitment though...too much time spent running a business AND an active SG...and making misisons...and base editing (it's coming Envee, I swear!).
  20. [ QUOTE ]
First, I love the idea of a video review.

    Here's my feedback:

I would seriously consider editing down the video after you're done to remove the filler. You happened to quit on the first mission here, but think about how long this would have been if you'd played all the missions in a 5 mission arc. A review, I feel, should give a short summary of how you feel about a piece. 6 - 7 minutes tops. You wouldn't call MST3K a movie review show, right?

Another thing I'd do, is once you read through the mission text (and no, I don't think you should read the mission text out loud - just edit out the part where you're reading it to yourself) you should give a specific summary of your opinion, more specific than just, "OOOOOK, whatever," or, "huh, cool." Something like, "the plot here doesn't make much sense," or, "that was really well written dialog." Things like that.

The last thing I noticed is a bit of a nit: it's a review of the arc, not your character. There were a few times where you commented on how much you liked your character, or a specific power, or whatever. But the people watching the review want to know if the arc is worthwhile, not whether your powerset is (although that could be a valid topic for a separate video). But having said that I don't think it's a big deal if you throw in a few, "Heh, I love doing that"s, or that type of thing.

I do think it's a great idea. I just think you have to play around with the format until you get it right. I say keep at it and try to improve it with each review. Keep in mind no one's done this before, exactly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

These are great suggestions...on the one comment about him talking about his own character, I don't agree though...having a full mission review means having to talk constantly, and if you're facing the same groups of mobs multiple times, you sort of run out of things to say...rambling is pretty much the only solution.

HOWEVER, I think your point about editing it down is a very good one. I personally think Editing it down to 3 minutes would work...maybe 4 at most.

You don't want to show so much of it that the readers here have surprises spoiled...and editing it down will allow you to stop...read the comments, read descriptions and such...and then simply comment on your likes and dislikes of each, without revealing too much of the content.

This is a great idea...and if you can get this down you could become a celeb on this forum.

My bad...didn't know others had pointed it out.

To make up for it, I want to review your first review attempt

I love the way the video is put together...that title intro and music rocked...very well done.

I didn't see a lot of review though. You basically ran through the mission as fast as possible, killing everything in sight, and if you read the NPC text, you did it to yourself and voiced no opinion on it.

I actually didn't like how you judged the mission based on an uncontrolable factor. The designer cannot control a bugged collection placement (which it actually wasn't).

That said, just like the missions themselves, doing the video reviews can be a learning process.

One thing I liked was that you were fairly engaging, talking during the fighting and mostly not letting people get bored because of no talking.

I certainly think you should continue doing the reviews, but also be willing to learn ways to improve as you go. Do that, and you could be onto something.
