ROGUE ISLES Question...

I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, and I can't remember reading it in the FAQ (which doesn't surprise me after the work week I've had and the lack of sleep), but here's my question:

When it says Heroes can become villains, does this mean they can do so in "new zones" introduced by Going Rogue, are that we will actually get to take our characters into the formerly opposing zones?

For example, will I be able to take my Fire Kin into Nerva if his alignment changes enough?

On a slightly different note, if this is the case...shouldn't they just open up ALL powers to both heroes and villains? Because that is essentially what they are going to do.

As Bill said, anything anyone tells you will be speculation at this point.

My personal theory is that there will be completely separate zones, so your hero will go to Pretoria, and your villain will go to the Praetorian version of the Rogue Isles. I don't know, though; we'll probably get more details within a few months or so.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

If they did this, then there wouldn't be as much of a need for Going Rogue. We also don't know if there is a minimum level restriction or any other pre-requisites for gaining access to Praetoria.

I'm just curious how SGs/VGs will be handled when characters 'go rogue'.

Going rogue will let ATs cross over... and two ATs with the same/similar powersets can play very different.

I should point out they're already tracking which missions are villainous, heroic or neutral. If anyone can find a contact, anywhere, on red side that'll offer a heroic mission or a contact on blue side that offers a villainous one that isn't in a shared zone, that would probably answer the question.

I'm surprised nobody's said this already, but...

Power proliferation isn't that simple. Sometimes they just port the powers over directly without any changes, yeah. The AT modifiers alone will ensure the powers function differently. If all proliferation were like that, it'd be easy.

But...sometimes the powersets need to be tweaked for gameplay and balance reasons. Fire Melee is a good example. Tanks, Brutes, and Scrappers all have Fire Melee. Look at the powers and power order, though - they're different for each AT. Psychic Blast for Blasters is likewise different from the Defender version.

Hell, look at Archery. It appears to be identical between Blasters and Defenders, but I'm told it actually isn't. Rain of Arrows has different base numbers between the two sets - not AT modifiers, but the power itself is different.

A lot of the Mastermind secondary powers are weaker in some way than the versions Corruptors, Controllers, and Defenders get. Lower numbers, higher end cost, shorter duration, that sorta thing. That's nothing to do with the Mastermind AT modifiers...many of the actual powers are tweaked.

The simplest answer to this is, they ARE -- it will just take time. It is called Powerset Proliferation.

Empathy and Pain Domination seems to be a unique case, and I'm not sure how the devs will handle it. It seems odd for them to make such a case for Empathy being only hero side, and then we will have Empathy heroes going to the villain side.

Obviously this is speculation..

I expect a 'third' city.. that of the Preatorian area the same size/complexity as PI or the RI. And you'll be able to 'port' your character over to it... Then.. depending on your 'allignment' choices will determine where (and IF) he gets to 'port' to.

Choosing characters IN Preatorian City will expedite the process.. You get to 'port' across depending on your current 'allignment' (based on your choices there).

Speculations abound. Okay.

As this is a true expansion I expect it will have several new zones (the Praetorian versions of several Paragon City and Rogue Isles zones). These zones will be co-op zones and would allow heroes to do villainous missions and villains to do heroic missions. These missions will determine which way your alignment slides. Are you becoming a darksider or are you turning to the light?

I expect we will see Praetorian version of our beloved Signature Heroes. I expect there will be several TFs included. I expect there will be new advances in the areas of water travel and zone textures. I believe the Praetorian dimension will start to fold into our own taking over zones like Boomtown and Dark Astoria and turning them into co-op or cohabitation zones.

I can't wait to see how much of this is right.

Not really. It's not a case of "hero" or "villain". It's more of a case of "Defender" or "Corruptor" and "Controller" or "Mastermind".

You will never see a Pain Domination Defender, just like you will never see an Empathy Corruptor. Or at least that's what I'm getting from the information we have availabe thus far.
