One more thing. If you guys fail at PvP the first time, it is just a learning experience. I do fine with all of my toons, 10/15 are 100% SO's. More advanced PvP makes IOs important but at the bare bones zone bob and weave, strategy can be useful. Be opportunistic and cunning.

btw, I'm the total opposite of evrything you mentioned (except maybe long walks, and AT themed teams :P) I phail at PvP, TF constantly, and for me, farming makes: face-->keyboard plant + zzzzzz -

A tank can't kill a good melee dueler. I've seen some SS tanks kill guys here and there, ranged usually arn't that hard, but they can't get enough damage to kill good scrappers or brutes.
Basically any combination for scrappers and brutes should work. I wouldn't bother with /fire though. -

At this point, it's clearly not a time issue. It's been a known bug for what...4 years? They simply are not good enough programmers to figure out how to fix a bug.
And considering this "new" bug (new meaning less than 1 year old, lol) also involves placate, I wouldn't have high hopes. -

Open up mids, go to window at the top and use powerset comparsion. Look at the damage compared to others. That should help with your decision -
Never seen a regen scrapper with phase, but yeah I know for sure Tough works well. If you're spines, you don't really need confront I find, I /win most ranged toons corrs can be tough...but uhh...I use fitness, fighting+weave, leadership, speed, that is it. Works great in Arena and Zone. O and I have impale/barbswipe and all regen -1(resistance or w/e) and i have flurry. Attack chain? usually barbswipe.flurry rinse wash repeat. Kinda cheap but then again so is most EVERYONE else in pvp.

Hmm...need more info on this lol. Seems there's is no agreement. My spines scraps wrecks with procs but is inferior to many other primaries im sure...soooo....I always figured MA was like tops after animation change due to those deadly *** crits...with procs? ouch
OOOO and one big thing, does katana have any range, immob or anything/ i dont think it does, so that is a big no no for me -
I have a bazillion pvp toons yes a bazillion. I need a top tier Arena toon, YES I aware that the arena circuit is "dead". But naturally, the toon will still do fine in zone pvp, and is always able to take it to the arena. Anyways, all that aside, what do you guys recommend?

Yes, yes... if you're going to psycho-analyze me and come up with a number of (hopefully non-Freudian) reasons why I'm the way I am do it on your own time.
Anyway, the habits I developed as a child carried over into my adult life. I play City of Heroes in a tournament style... against myself. Each server is a "Team" and share resources (enhancements, influence, salvage, inspirations) via their supergroup base and a second account I have for trading purposes.
Each character's progress is tracked via several ... okay MORE than several.. spreadsheets that track such things as Undefeated Streaks from 1st level, total number of defeats, Power(calculated via a rather complex formula), reputation(calculated via a slightly less complex formula), badges acquired and several other criteria.
The characters are compared against one another on a semi-regular basis and I record their progress both as individuals and against all my other characters. I currently have 58 in the tournament divided among 10 teams. I don't have characters on Pinnacle.. not because I dislike Pinnacle but because there are 11 servers and I needed 5 villain teams and 5 hero teams.
Anyway.. you don't have to be as complicated as I've been, but a little self-competition may be just the thing. Start two characters and give them equal play times. See which one performs better.
Or... run a Hardcore Tournament. Create a list of 10 or so characters and play them until they die. See which one goes the furthest.
If you've "done it all" then the one thing left to do is set up your own game-within-the-game.
Yes... I know I'm obsessive-compulsive... the 88 City of Heroes/Villains spreadsheets I have pretty much made that clear. -
I PvP, that is the answer for me, but I realize that, this is not the answer for everyone.
I suggest that the Devs add more Quest like arcs.
For instance, there should be an arc that guarantees a purple recipe. Difficulty adjusted accordingly. This should also be timed.
2 Merits for defeating every 100 enemies.
Survival type mission where a team of 8 is placed in a large room and wave after wave of enemies attack the group and get tougher and tougher and tougher. From a group of minions, even up until a group of AVs. Of course different mixes along the way. As you defeat the waves influence is increased by a given amount. If a group is able to defeat the group of AVs and ultimately the challenge, they are awarded a random recipe roll. There should be 3 levels, the first lvl you get a bronze roll, if you pass the second level a silver, and if you pass the final, the rare.

Bravo, AreSupreme. I wish you all good success in reaching out to us PvE'ers. Although I am not a PvP fan, I would like to see that part of the game flourish. I'll give PvP a try again just because of this post...just don't expect me to spend TOO much time PvPing until I get at least one Live 50 under my belt (darn altitis)

But umm, I have seen dark scrappers do well. Yes the offensive toggles are annoying but generally not that big of a deal. Whomever told you not to try is likely just bitter over i13 PvP changes. If anyone is to be upset about i13, mez is not one of the reasons. If anything mez was fixed. There was a point where a dominator or controller automatically won if you didn't have an entire tray of Bfs. Now Doms and trollers are where they should be. -
