  2. Scotty Rule guys. Scotty Rule.
  3. This item has wolves in it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 800 Paragon Points by itself, but once I created a character, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the costume I created for my shiny new avatar would properly cover my girth, I walked from the tutorial to Mercy Island and was immediately approached by cat-girls. The feline beauties knew from the wolves at my side that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The cat-girls that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them infamy for something they called RP. I told them no, because they didn't have a compelling enough backstory, and frankly a man with a wolf-pack shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at the trainer, turned on my Prestige Power Slide (walking is such a drag!) gliding side to side so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing training enhancements, I could hear the sound of spurred boots on the pavement behind me. I turned around to see a super powered dream in a rocking new Gunslinger Costume, pistols drawn standing there. She told me she liked the wolves at my side, I told her I wanted to be her sidekick. She offered me a swig from her EnricheĀ™, and I hopped on the back of her Flying Carpet and flew into the rest of our lives. Thank you Paragon Market.

Pros: Fits my playstyle, has wolves in it, attracts cat-girls
Cons: Only 3 wolves and one Dire Wolf (could probably use a few more as opposed to those unmanly lionesses), needs more bees, I was lead to believe that I would have a GIANT bird.

Only if what you're saying is accurate...or at least possesses a modicum of truthiness.

Minor nitpick; tentatively within the next few weeks .

And please, always be so bold. Makes my job easier!

There's nothing wrong with playing multiple games. Helps prevent potential burn out on any one game .

My fault for misunderstanding then (probably from reading the previously quoted post). Apologies.

    Carry on!

100% incorrect. It has nothing to do with budget or resources. As I stated, it has to do with methodology and process.

I've worked with smaller teams that used the more rapid development process. The point I am making is that there are pros and cons to different methods of iteration/development process. The pros of our process is that the overall availability of the game is increased, the cons are that things sometimes take a bit longer to fix, so long as they're not making the servers go boom.

There are a many different types of iteration when it comes to rapid online development, some are more rapid than others, and have *much* more inherent risk involved.

Personal experience: I worked on a couple of games where changes that involved data files only could be rapidly read up to a live shard, which meant a simple bug could be quickly fixed. Changes which involved code still required a build. Sounds awesome right? Well, a good 50% of the time (probably hyperbolic) fixing a simple bug resulted in a larger, more serious bug occurring in a live environment. Yes, you're more agile (pardon the development methodology pun), but you're also more open to "bad stuff" due to rapid iteration.

At Paragon/NCsoft, we have a more methodical approach to iteration. This results in less game breaking/server destroying bugs, which results in more overall availability of the product. This also means that, due to our methodical process, the bugs that do make it to live, it happens, take longer to fix because we plan our process out weeks in advance. We still have to rapidly (within 24 hours response) iterate if there's an issue that's wrecking mass havoc on live servers, and adjust our schedules accordingly.

As anyone in software development will tell you, schedules are very, very important. If milestones get pushed, it has an effect on the entire studio, soup to nuts.

Keep in mind, I'm not an engineer...but I play one online.

    Cannot find map!

We're working on getting the servers back up ASAP. I've been forwarding information along to the NOC as I receive it, so thank you for the reports everyone.

If the downtime lasts much longer, not to worry, I'll throw Ustream up and answer some questions.
  14. Currently all servers offline due to an unplanned outage. At this time we do not have an estimated time of restoration of services.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will be sure to keep you updated.

    Edit: Updated to include Virtue.

Edit 7:02 PM PST - Updated to include all servers.

Edit 8:23 PM PST - All servers are back online. Thanks for your patience.
  15. Welcome back Bill.

I hope your friends here in the CoH Community can provide you some comfort in a stressful time.

  18. Currently, there are no plans to issue a free respec coinciding with the launch of Issue 22.

My apologies to anyone who may be disappointed by this.
  19. Excellent...our evil plan is working.

    I mean, congratulations!

(In all seriousness, things like this give me a warm fuzzy. Thanks for sharing your story!)
  20. Hey guys, sorry for the delay.

I'm going through each one of these builds and figuring out which one best fits my playstyle. That, combined with pushing a patch out the door has caused this to take much longer than I originally thought it would to pick a winner.

I'll pick a build ASAP, since I've been home sick today, it's been something to do .

I'm pretty sure I specifically stated you *don't* need the power to join in and then gave instructions as to how to use the temp power . I was throwing Flying Discs to anyone who came near.
