I'd volunteer to be auctioned off, but I don't think anyone would actually pay to have me get them tons of debt with my erratic and wreckless scrappery playstyle...
It's practically become official in our SG that I'm not allowed to mentor people anymore... (Thankfully, i16's Super Sidekicking should change things so I don't get yelled at... as much... )
If people can put up with that though, sure, sign me up!
Edit: Oh yeah, and that 25% can go back into that raffle pool, I don't really need it... >.> -
Quote:I completely agree. My friend has a "Windows mobile" OS on his phone, and some how got a virus on the stupid thing... Maybe it's just me, but when you need to worry about viruses on your phone, it's about time to just say "screw it" and go get a new phone...I have a hard time buying that any version of Windows Mobile will ever challenge the iPhone in terms of usability. The last 10 years of Windows Mobile has been utter crap.
I'm no anti-Microsoft zealot (I like Vista for pete's sake!), but that's a stone cold fact. -
I have a G1, and it's ok. The novelty of the touch screen wears off after a while though...

I haven't even done the Barracuda SF yet, so I don't even know what ya'll are talking about... But yeah, stalkers are a bit of a broken AT in many respects, if played wrong.
I think the problem is, a lot of people are PLing the stalkers up, so they don't learn what it can and can't do. And those who are actually playing the stalker all the way up, yet still playing "shadow games"... Well, they're either very dumb, or very patient... If I miss on my AS on a minion, I don't wait for it to recharge, I pop my second most heavy hitting attack, and still one shot the mob...(Two to three hits, for most Lts...)
Honestly, they're almost exactly the same as scrappers, only they have better burst damage, and slightly lower defenses... I play mine like a gimp scrapper, and can do some amazing things with it... Anyone else ever off tank an AV as a stalker when the brute died, and half the team wiped? It's really not that hard, if you know how to play the AT correctly...(and also know when to use your tier 9 defense power... That tends to help with survivability...) -
-
Yeah, I have my graphic settings all turned up to full on my desktop, and can't believe some of the details I find in the game that I've missed over the years of playing on my previous computer... Everything's so shiny now, I don't think I could go back!

Had some trouble deciding, there were so many great ones to choose from, but here's our winners!
First place prize of 100 million inf, and a portrait of the winners' character went to... Vivace! I absolutely loved your costume, as did everyone else that was helping me judge, congratulations!(I'll be forwarding screenshots and your email address to Frank, A.S.A.P. so he can get started, and I'll make sure it gets posted up here too as soon as it's done! )
Second place prize went to Illusina. Your costume was fantastic, I loved the somewhat "glowy bronze" look to it, and kept coming back having to look at it. Very nice costume.
Third place went to Hooded Freak. Nice use of contrast, and simplicity in design.
Fourth place went to Calash. You used certain costume parts in ways I've never thought of, and they really meshed well together.
Congratulations again to the winners, and thanks to everyone who came out! I'll try to post pics of the winners soon, for your forum viewing pleasure... -
Quote:Speaking from the point of view of someone who's tried many many different build setups on his own PB, you're both right. Leaving out Nova and/or Dwarf can hurt a lot, but it's not necessarily going to gimp you leaving them out. At the same time, taking the forms might hurt more than help, as you've got to split your slots between human and form specific powers. Either way you go, how well you do will depend entirely on your build layout, and your personal play style with it.I completely disagree, GP. My PB is (due to concept reasons) human-only form (my WS is human/Dwarf) and I think it's a pretty solid toon, offering ranged options nearly as effective as a Blaster, and melee options pretty respectable as well.
I think the bottom line is (like you pointed out) having an overall plan and working within that plan to excel. And in the end, I really think it's the player that makes a toon effective (or not) much more than simply the AT and powerset choices.
Personally, I view Peacebringers, and to a slightly lesser extent Warshades,(WS less so, because they can solo much more effectively on average than PBs do) as a whole as the "Jack of all Trades; Master of None" ATs... You can spec them to do all kinds of things, but as said above, you really need to focus into one area to excel, or you just water down how effective your build is.
My Peacebringer currently has two builds. A solo build, and a team build.
My solo build is pure Human, with a lot of emphasis on damage and durability,(yay Light Form for the tougher stuff!) up to and including a few IO sets that boost my damage bonus a bit... I haven't finished the build just yet, but I have a perma 20% boost to damage from set bonuses, at present, which helps quite a bit when solo... For me anyways... Also worked in Acrobatics, so I could have at least some hold protection... As a whole, the build works better on teams, but PBs are always going to be better with others than they are solo.
My team build on the other hand, is in essence a "screw damage, I'm support!" build. I took Nova for some damage,(though it's not fantastic damage, with the way my build is divided up) Glowing Touch along with some powers from the medicine pool for Stimulant and Resuscitate,(so I could heal if needed) the Leadership pool for the team buffs,(not to mention Veng) and Dwarf form so I could tank, whether because the actual tank dropped, or there was no other tank to begin with. Granted, this build sucks at soloing, but that's not what I designed it for... Offers quite a bit to a team that has certain spots that need filling on the fly.
In other news, I always find myself slamming my face into my keyboard when I hear of a Kheldian who doesn't know what Void Stalkers/Hunters/Slayers, Quantums, or Shadow Cyst Crystals are...
Even more so over the Cyst Crystals when I have to explain them to an entire team of 50s, as they're typically a bigger threat to non-Kheldians than they are to Kheldians themselves, as we at least have negative energy resistance...
"Wait guys, there's a Cyst Crystal in that next group!" ~Me
"A Crystal what? Ah who cares, pulling that Malta Gunslinger!" ~Over-confident blaster
*Nictus pour out and attack the over-confident blaster, and the rest of the team rushes in to help*
"Anyone have a purple or a blue?" ~OCB
*Looks around at the carnage, thanking the light that he popped Quantum Flight as soon as he read the word "Pulling"*
"Well then, the team's down, only one thing to do now..." ~Me
*Flys far enough away to lose aggro, then uses the Vet Team recall to teleport the team out of the mob of Nictus and angry Malta then does "/em teabag"*
"Next time I tell you guys to wait..." ~Me -
Sorry, I don't really have the inf to give out notable rewards red side at the moment,(I'm supplying much of the inf prize in this contest out of my own pocket...) but I'm hoping I'll be able to host another contest for all you evil doers at a later date.(Hopefully soon! )

Just wanted to toss out a friendly reminder that this is coming up this Saturday.(the 22nd)
Don't miss out on the fun! -
Sounds like fun, count me in.
Also, I'm the guy who's currently running our SG based PvP ladder, as mentioned by Eric above, so if you need any help or advice on how to set things up or run it, I'll be more than happy to share what limited knowledge I may have... -
Quote:Decisions will be made based off of most of those criteria you listed right there. In essence, you'd be more likely to win if you have something original, that looks good, and isn't a complete ripoff of some copyrighted hero from a comic.(i.e. you come dressed up as Batman, don't expect to win)Could you tell us the criteria you use to select the winner? I'm hoping it's more than "the coolest looking costume", maybe some guidelines like good use of color/color combinations, original concepts, use of different costume pieces in an original way, good biographies, humor, something a little more objective.
Color co-ordination will be something we'll look at as well, but it all depends on how color combinations are pulled off. You could have a costume that's red, blue, green, and pink, and still win, if you can do it in a way that doesn't make my eyes bleed to look upon you... (Could swear there was a "Rainbow Man" type costume at the last major costume contest we held, and it didn't look half bad...)
If your character has a good bio, that will be a factor as well, so long as the bio and the costume match.(A bio about a dark semi-evil former demon, running around in a neon pink tutu doesn't really mesh well, does it? )
So in a nutshell, it's not going to be just a "coolest costume wins" thing, we'll be looking at all kinds of subtle details to figure out who will win. So don't worry, we won't end up with a bunch of generic looking costumes winning. -
Eh, I'm not sure if I like the new layout yet or not... Either way, it'll take a bit to get use to...
Anyone else have their password for the forums changed to their game login password after the move, or was that just me?(Could swear it was changed, at any rate...) -
Hello all you cats and kittens!
Do you admire yourself in the mirror? Do you often think you could win millions with your looks alone? Have you ever looked at your costume and said "dang, that's hawt"?
Then have we got a contest for you!
August 22nd '09, the Legion of Valor presents:
A Costume Contest Extravaganza!
From 11am Eastern time, until 12 noon,(Which is when our judges will begin casting their votes. This is to give everyone enough time to show up!) we will be holding a costume contest in Galaxy City,(of course, here on the Victory server) where anyone and everyone is encouraged to bring their best!
First Place Winner will receive: 100 Million Influence, and an original artwork done of their character, by the Legion's very own Frank King!(Click here to preview some of his work!)
Second place will win: 50 Million Influence
Third and Fourth Place winners will receive 30 Million Influence each.
Everyone is welcome to enter, if you have any questions, you can contact me in game "@Shenku" or "@Saphire Wind", or you can contact us through our website at legionofvalor.guildportal.com.
Good luck everyone, and see you there!
(Edit: Whoops, forgot to add the linky stuff for Frank's Deviant page...) -
EATs' and VEATs' powersets don't seem to be included on that list of customizable powers... If they can work those in there somehow, I'll be happy... I want a more notable blue color for my PB, dagnabbit!(as opposed to the current white-blue, which is "meh")

Some sweet new lore about Desdemona and Maelstorm. Awesome job devs! Maelstorm looks awesome and Desdemona's pose is sexy. I can't wait to see what they put in for Tyrant.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed.... I got bored earlier, and already made myself a quick wallpaper of the two characters for my desktop... (granted it was done in about 10 minutes, and probably looks it...)
Link...
Would have thrown a "Going Rogue" logo up just above/behind them,(instead of the CoH/CoV logos in the bottom right corner) but I couldn't find an image to snag for it... >_>;
Edit: Made it cause the ones they have on the site didn't grab my attention enough... -

No, the coolest animation bug ever is finding out that walking in dwarf form on a Kheldian doesn't interrupt emotes.
*plops down a boombox*
*slides around dancing*

I think I can top this. Before they fixed it, the squid form couldn't hold a shotgun in it's tenticles. So, the holy shotgun temp power (given in Striga arcs) was held in it's mouth. I thought, "Welll thanks for this weapon but, um, what do you want me to do with it? No hands people!!! no hands!"
The first time I saw it I was laughing so hard, well the debt was worth it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even better, take your PB/WS and pull out the Nemesis Staff while in human form, then pop into Nova. It looks as though Nemesis has impaled your squid with his staff!
Not sure if this still works or not, but I always found it amusing. -
Good luck on your future endeavors, things won't be the same around here without you.

Can't add much that hasn't already been said, but I agree that this should be left in. Honestly, how bad of a performance hit is it, really? Unless it's causing players by the hundreds to have their computers crash, or crashing the servers, I don't see how it's so bad it needs to be removed. -

[*]Tanker, Brute, and Scrapper versions of taunt now display a message when the taunt portion of the power misses in PVP. Stalker taunt is unchanged.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, wasn't that last part pointed out as an error several weeks ago by someone? Or did the Devs give stalkers taunt powers as some kind of cruel joke? -
SG mate just pointed this out in our forums... This is absolute 100% awesome!

Welcome to the forums Blue Steel, and Mynx!
Curious... I expected this thread to be flooded with catgirl supporters demanding Mynx be declared ruler of the Catgirls... Or does that title belong to Miss Kitty still? Or for that matter, was there ever a leader??? I need to keep up with the forums over here more... -
You will be missed...
Good luck with the new gig, and drop in to say hi once in a while, will ya!
