Good luck on getting people to join your channel, most people i know wouldn't since you posted this on numerous forums. That's tacky.

Quote:No, what i'm saying is Marauder can be taken down easily with a pug without being an AT/powerset nazi and without grenades. You're either being a contrarian on purpose, or just particularly dense.
100% S/L resist means anyone who does only S/L damage will do nothing to him. Doesn't matter if you've got a great player or a lousy player. 100% S/L resist means 100% S/L resist. Simple math. I have the MoLambda, I've helped others get the MoLambda. I understand the mechanics behind the trial and the limitations that have been set forth within. They are not insurmountable, but they are still penalizing LIMITATIONS to anyone who does S/L damage if they are going for the MoLambda badges. Please expand your weak argument beyond "you have lousy teams" or "learn to team with better players". Cause really, if that's all you've got we can ignore you.
It is possible that you're intimating that anyone who only does S/L damage is not a great/good player. If that's true, I find that view rather limiting. -
Quote:Yes, i know what marauder's stats are, learn to team with better players and it's not a problem.Really really.
Please take a look at this post showing Marauder's stats. This can be found in the Master of Lambda Strategy Open Discussion's thread.
A picture is worth a thousand words. -
Really? because we got him to 3% health without using grenades the second day (and have since beat him without greandes many times) while testing out for the master badges, but only 3-4 people were incarnate shifted to level 53. and we didn't build the team including or excluding any specific AT's. sounds like your server is just bad.
-
Quote:Not sure what server you play on, but any server that is AT specific for either of the trials is a joke. It's downright laughable, because AT has no bearing on the trials whatsoever, it's just about teamwork.Note: This post has nothing to do with the mutual exclusivity of the badges. That point has been raised in other threads ad nauseam, and while it is a good point to make, I think it will distract from the real reason I'm making this thread.
What I want to know is why the conditions to acquire the Master of Lambda Sector badge as currently written essentially render five entire Archetypes and host of powersets in other archetypes a waste of a team slot. How are players of these archetypes and powersets supposed to acquire the badge when they are not capable of meaningfully contributing to the effort and teams will not take them except out of pity?
Take Scrappers for instance - out of Scrapper's 10 primary powersets, six of them cannot do any meaningful damage to Marauder on a Master run. (Five can't do any at all; the sixth, Spines, does only very token damage with its DoTs.) The four remaining sets all do damage at significantly reduced efficiency. Why would you take a Scrapper?
How about Brutes? Same thing - six of Brute's eleven primaries are wholly incapable of damaging Marauder on a Master run, and again, the five that remain all suffer significantly reduced efficiency. A brute isn't going to tank Marauder very well either, so why would you take one?
Stalkers? Same situation as Scrappers. Assassin Strike isn't a plus either - in all the stalker primaries that do have any exotic damage, the assassin strike does 2/3 of its damage as smashing. So stalkers here come off even worse than scrappers, most likely, and we've already established that scrappers are of questionable utility in a master run. I thought Stalkers were _supposed_ to be better at taking out single hard targets...
Tankers? Well, they're perhaps a little better off in some ways, and not in others. On the one hand, you pretty much need a tanker to, well, tank Marauder. On the other hand, five of Tanker's secondaries are incapable of damaging Marauder, which means they're also incapable of generating any meaningful threat, which means they're incapable of actually tanking Marauder. They still have the problem of reduced efficiency, but bottom line, you're probably going to need *some* kind of tanker for running this. Unfortunately, five of the sets are useless, and one of those five just happens to be the most popular tanker melee set in the game. Oops.
That brings us to the last AT I was going to single out, and that's the Soldier of Arachnos. While you can point out that the SoA's leadership buffs do provide a significant benefit to the team, a Bane Spider is in more or less the same position as a Spines scrapper or stalker when it comes to damaging Marauder (slightly better, if you took Poisonous Ray, at least); Crab Spiders are at badly reduced efficiency, but still marginally functional; and Huntsman builds are screwed.
It goes further than these five ATs, too. What about all the Archery, Assault Rifle, and Dual Pistols blasters/defenders/corruptors? What about Earth, Gravity, and Plant Control for controllers and dominators? What about Earth and Thorny Assault for dominators? What about Ninjas, Thugs, and Mercenaries masterminds? -
....Scrape....scrape.....*CRACK*. Great, that's what i get for carrying around a pencil instead of a pen. Ah well, that's the last of it. Finally got that last bit of flesh from the bottom of my boot. If i hadn't already killed that tailor in Cap Au Diable, i would have forced him to make me a pair of boots with a different tread pattern that is easier to clean. My how things can change in an instant. I thought it was going to be a laid-back kind of day, sunning myself on top of the globe here in Warburg eating cookies....until *they* showed up. Damn this blood better come out of my cape. I'll wait until the water clears before i wash it.
So close, he almost made it too, i think that's his head floating towards the shore now. They said more would be showing up, but after that fight, i doubt it. They were obviously unseasoned heroes, i led them right into the web and let the Arachnoids give them a little suprise. After that it was easy pickings. I can still hear the hollow sound that mastermind's head made when i hit him from behind. I remember his minions all falling to the ground at once when both of the tanks turned their attention towards me. I went for the big one first, once he dropped the smaller one tried to make a run for it. He didn't get far. He was on the beach when he took his final breath.
The glue arrow wasn't fun, my cybernetic arm will stay gummy for days. Poor guy, i think he got confused flying through the buildings. Dead before he even hit the ground. After dropping the two scrappers by the globe, luckily i caught a glimpse of the stalker uncloaking trying to assassinate me. Made short work of him until those blasters came out of nowhere. I ducked into the web and two of them flew right by me, leaving the third one to patrol the exit. He put up a little fight, then i scoured the web for the last two. I found one who was about to be killed by arachnoids. I let him be, might as well let those monsters have a decent lunch for once. The last one, he had just finished using one of the launch computers and was making a break for the rocket.
He had just fired up the launch computer when i attacked him. He looked for a minute like he was going to draw me away in order to launch the missle, but then he made a break for the boat. I kicked my jetpack into overdrive and got just in range to unleash the new fireball i've been working on. It just incinerated his torso, i remember the look on the face as it fell from the sky. Much different than the expression it has now washing up on shore. Five minutes ago he was doing a lot of talking, but now, just silence. The sun is starting to go down, and i'm sure those damn birds ran off with the rest of my cookies. All i have to show for the day is glue arrow residue on my arm and this nuclear missle. Should i go hurl it into space? nah, i think i'll head to the black market and drop it on those sorry price gougers.... -
Quote:Pinnacle is called that because it used to come up last after maintenance, so people joked that it was hungover. Plus most of the late night players (and some daytime players) are known to be wasted from time to time, as i'm sure a lot of other folks on others servers are.So, I'm poking around servers and trying to feel out that community. I was curious what the community had to say on this matter. Rather than spread my new "starter" toons around servers, I was going to try and dump them all on one.
I'm not looking for information on numbers so much as I am the general "feeling" of the community. I know Freedom and Virtue have the highest numbers and I was inclined to go with one of them, but I keep seeing triple red dots wen I log on and it worries me a little. This is as far as I've gotten:
Freedom: The BIGGEST server
Virtue: Unofficial RP server
I think someone also mentioned that Pinnacle was the "Drunk" server and I wanted some more information on what this meant as well, because that just sounds awesome. Right now, I'm inclined to dump some toons on Virtue because, while I don't RP, I do like my characters to "make sense" within the CoX universe and Virtue seems to be the place where I would find characters with a higher degree of seriousness, making the game a tad more immersive.
Freedom and virtue are there when you want to be around a lot of players, however with that many people, the quality of player can be hit or miss. While each server of course has great players, Pinnacle, champion, and guardian would probably be the next big three in terms of quality. someone said there was a server called protector or something, not sure if that's true. -
If you buy xp, or pay to create the rares and ultra rares, you're just plain dumb. by the time you have the xp for all of the slots, you'll have most of what you need to craft.
-
I ran about 15 BAF's in a day, you wouldn't believe how much housework i completed during those cutscenes.

Quote:I was with Beef when we got him to 4%. We used the acids on the doors then used no grenades whatsoever and got him down to 4%. He hits unstoppable around 20% so it's best to get him to 20% as fast as possible IMO.couple of questions for you guys.
On testing, it seems only certain powers inflict damage while Marauder is enraged. Have you guys genuinely damaged him significantly using NO Pacification Grenades whatsoever or are you achieving this damage using grenades obtained in the courtyard?
When completing the trial using no Molecular Acids, are you just ignoring the mobs and focusing on Marauder? Or are you intercepting the reinforcements?
On the runs without using acids, we just rushed him and ignored the ambushes. If you have enough damage, Marauder will jump around to his different locations fairly frequently so the ambushes are constantly trying to keep up. This will be much easier when more people are level shifted and have more incarnate powers. Only about 5 of us were +3 and a couple were +2.
We also ran a 12:45 Lambda. Got in the mission, cleared the turrets and courtyard ASAP, killed the security team, and then sent BOTH teams to the munitions depot and got all ten pacification grenades. We skipped the training facility alltogether. We then had about a minute/minute and a half to buff up, pass grenades and set up (and get inthe cutscene) while Marauder spawned. We took him down in about 2:30 with grenades.
If people are still having trouble with the lambda, the most important thing is to instruct the team to locate all ten acid temps and either get them to one person, or have them ready before starting marauders timer. I like to send a faster team to the training facility and then they have a minute or so to swap out the acids so they are all accounted for before we start. Get the doors destroyed quickly so there is hardly an ambush. It's also a good idea to not use any grenades until about 90% of Marauders ambush is down, so you can maximize the grenades by having everyone attack. -
1. The enter queue button to start the Trials, someone is always lagging behind, why not provide a checkmark system so people can check it and then go for a quick afk if they need to. If not it at least needs an audible tone for those of us that multitask and might be looking at another screen. This could definetly use some improvements.
2. the hospital doors. the 5 and ten second notifications are pointless. it's annoying, the timers are off, and it's not fun. Can we just have these removed? -
Thanks for the kind words. Yea, nice to see some new faces stepping up to lead things on Pinnacle. Jaberwok, Kitty, Kemli and the good folks at JL have been crushing the new content.
Running 8 BAF's in a row the other night and a ton last night, you can really get a feel for the teams getting stronger with level shifts and more incarnate powers. -
Quote:I told you to stop playing on virtue, and now look what happened.I find the animal pack as current base to be a good start. But you cannot rightfully call it an "animal pack" without including more than 3 types of animals (cat, wolf, bird). I honestly feel cheated and ripped off here. And only about 4 patterns for each animal is just sad. An idea for improvement here would be to add more patterns, like house cat patterns. Or add a dog costume, maybe a frog or lizard, or turtle (not ninja turtle). I think an Assassin hampster would be highly entertaining. Or a heroin addicted rabbit with fleas lol....
As for the beast run, the run itself is fundamentally good, would be nice to maybe be able to choose two legged or four legged idle stances. But the primary fault im finding here is the actual jump animation. Its from beast to man beast, and is really only decently designed for those of us who feel a little werewolfie. Other than that, that particular jumping animation just does NOT "mesh" with a real animal in any regard. I just cant make a jungle cat who jumps like a man. I wanna see it jump and pounce like a cat playing with a string. Would love to see a butt wiggle before a pounce maybe.
overall, ill give the animal pack a 7 of 10 based on effort and decent starting foundation. Now lets see if they even attempt at improving it, or if this is just another idea thats blown off.
(Also, i vote we get a new base item that allows us to use the market to buy, sell, or store items. Wouldn't be all that difficult really because the same activation engine runs the vaults in the bases. Just need a specific item that's new programed to interact EXACTLY the same way the interaction programing works on the market employees in the game. Its the same code. This would create two positive things for the player base:
1.) Create an easier and less time consuming job of storing and crafting and selling items in or out of base. ie isntead of constantly waiting for zoning times through muiltple zones to accomplish only 1 goal.
2.) Deminish the world map lag due to an over flow of players in one space at one time. they can each handle their market working in the peace and quiet of their own base. Because the garbage that is AE (which has destroyed any symblance of what the game used to be) is already causing enough bulk and overflow of players in main zones such as atlas or cap au diable. )
And the Incarnet system is absolutely doomed to completely break every character in this game that has ever existed. UNLESS, the devs completely eliminate the deminishing returns system. What they are doing currently is providing people the means to make all their years of toiling into their favorite toons obsolete in every way. Because anyone who has had this game long enough to really matter at this point all has toons with "builds" of various different cost levels. The new stats introduced by incarnet only resist at max 1/3 of deminished returns. that means specificly that your toon, thats already built and is awsome for what you want it to do, has 2/3 of 33% whatever pushing them over into deminishing returns the moment the thing is slotted. So, if your actually smart about it, youll leave ALL the higher level incarnets alone, take only the lower level ones (at most), and be 100% better than the guy with a 4 billion dollar build and all the teir4 incarnets.
THEY HAVE BROKEN THEIR OWN SYSTEM.
Basically, the devs need to decide whether to keep their new babies, or keep the old mess they keep breaking because there isn't anyone left that was an original programmer for this game. And there wasn't very good notes left by the originals anyway (so I've heard) -
SG/VG Name: Nites/ Nites of Darkness
Website : Nites.guildportal.com
Peak teaming hours: Anytime really. Usually nights after 5pm est to 3am est are the busiest times, but everyone has crazy schedules so there's always a handful on at any given hour.
Amount of PvP: Kickballs and arena matches with our friends and SG
Amount of Powerleveling: LoL
Amount of Drama: Within the SG, None. We're here to have fun.
Size of Base: Both bases have a easy to use layout designed to get you in and out. All amenities are working and easy to find/use. Both are used frequently for COP raids.
Requirements: We don't have any rules or requirements. We provide our members with website and ventrilo access, as well as access to a private global channel shared with some of the best players on Pinnacle. We don't have planned activities, nor do we require you to be in game at any specific time. Come and go as you please. If you're the kind of person that logs in and wants to get something going, you'll do better than someone who logs in and sits around waiting for something to happen. We accept players of all experience levels, and we don't require you to quit your other SG's. If you only want to have 1 character in the group, that's fine. We also do not require ventrilo usage, but we ask that you keep the global channel up as that is our primary form of communication.
Guild Description: We have been on Pinnacle for over 5 years and have one of the largest villain presences on the server. We also have a strong Hero presence. We enjoy doing the things everyone else likes doing in game, just a little bit faster. Task/Strike forces, COP raids, Shard farming, breaking the AE. Pretty much everything except roleplaying and non-accolade badge collecting. Our members are experts in all aspects of the game. We have badge collectors, pvp freaks, expert build makers, market geniuses, and others who have an amazing grasp of the game and it's concepts.
Leader:
@XFUNK
Voice Chat: We currently maintain a large ventrilo server for 24/7 member access. Usage is completely optional. -
Was nice and smooth, great job.
3 things.
1. Didn't see the chat saying it would be a evacless raid, but i was busy listening to Dark 0mega and Nymph in vent breaking the game even further so i might have missed it.
2. Whoever was leading the blue team, we had stragglers not on the team who were targeting through the widow i think. We had a good ten second gap between the targets where the person had like 9 people on follow just hovering in the air wasting time while we were waiting for them to target the next mito. Might want to tighten that up and have someone who can target a little quicker.
3. Not sure how big your vent is, but mine can hold a whole raids worth if getting most of the folks on would help.
again, thanks for the fun smooth raid to JL and Pinnacle. -
-
We run them quite frequently on Pinnacle, no prep time, just usually wait 5-10 mins for everyone to log in, then crush it in around 12 mins.

Nites of Darkness has just celebrated it's 5 year anniversary this past november and we would like to continue our tradition of being one of the top groups on Pinnacle by adding more members to our ranks.
Nites of Darkness offer both a SG and a VG both with easy to access fully functional bases. We pay our rent and offer a unique design intended to get you in and out easily.
We have a 100 person ventrilo server used as the primary form of communication, also frequented by Pinnacle's top players throughout the day and night.
Nites are well known for our frequent TF/SF runs. Sometimes we run them for speed, sometimes we run them for shards. We don't plan group activities in advance, and can form a team for anything virtually around the clock.
Membership in the group provides you with access to our private channel currently sitting at 490 hand-picked members. This is the first place we advertise our in game events/activities.
We also provide a website, although primarily used for posting mid's character builds. Nites.guildportal.com
We believe that time is valuable so yes, we do rush through the mundane parts of the game so we can enjoy the fun parts.
Some people don't like to join big SG/VG's because of fear of getting lost in the shuffle or fear of commitment. Nites of Darkness does not require participation in any activities and makes an active effort to get everyone included. We don't really have any rules or requirements. Come as you are, play when you can. Our loose and free attitude is one of the reasons we have been a high end group on Pinnacle for so long.
Also, we do not require you to leave your current SG/VG, we welcome alts of all levels.
Wish you could take part in the COP trial? Looking to stock up on incarnate shards? Want to run TF's in 1/4 of the time of standard pick up groups? Join Nites today!
If you would like to start taking your character to the next level and start experiencing some high end content like you've never experienced before, please visit us at www.nites.guildportal.com (link also in signature) or contact @xfunk in game. -
I think you can belong to ten global channels at a time.
When you're in game, click the "TAB" button on top of your chat window.
go to "Channel Search" or "Join Channel" and type in Pinnbadges
Like dark omega said, you'll have to pm a mod/op in Pinnbadges to be unsilenced (they have the star next to their name) and then after that you'll be able to speak. After you join a channel, you'll by default have it in your chat, you can right click a chat tab to edit which window it appears in.
I'm not a mod in those channels but i have them on the payroll if you need assistance, send me a tell in game @xfunk and i'll get those slackers on the ball. -
There are several channels on Pinnacle for such things. Cozmic's playground has the most people in it, but the quality overall is low. Pinnbadges is slightly better and more often used. There are also a few other private channels that are invite only.

For casual zone pvp or small arena fights some PVE builds can do suprisingly well. I have an invul/dark tank made for PVE that does really well in zones. And i have a fire/mm blaster that the Pve build is actually more fun to play in pvp than the PVP build.
I see a lot of people on my home server saying the reason they don't pvp is because other players have "more purples" than they do, which is just silly.
Some powerset combos do better than others and yes player skill and basic familiarity with the pvp mechanics( there aren't many) will give an obvious advantage, but a cheap basic io build can do just fine in most settings.
Don't feel that you need to spend 10 billion on your toon before you can pvp. There are many cheaper alternatives that can get you in the fight. everyone dies, just get out there and have fun.
