Oh, also... out of the 5 threads in this forum at the time of writing precisely 0 (yes, that is zero, none, nada) follow the required format as described in the OP.
.... 1 is close though. -
Quote:Ok, seriously... what server did you try this on?Recently, I've spent time talking to people who were new to the game, and even asking people, where can I find builds (I was incognito of course). Very few folks could point me to one place, the usual response I got was "On the forums...." and when I asked "Yeah, but which forum" the response was almost always "I don't know" or "You have to really dig through the AT and General forums".
Personally I think it'll get messy and confusing, but who am I - we'll see how it turns out. -
For a while we'd been stuck closing on 45 mins, which was with 2 corrs (screenie).
But then I figured I could probably cut the time down by swapping my part (not the debuff) out for a Widow, so I did...

Quote:I doubt that's true. Few companies that operate in as many markets as NCSoft have a good handle on their compliance requirements. A fair amount of companies do their best and use the corporate version of "I'm sorry, I won't do it anymore," when they get caught doing something they shouldn't have.
It works surprising well and is a heck of a lot cheaper than hiring lawyers in all those jurisdictions.Quote:I no longer practice law for a living, but I do try and keep up with things that interest me in the legal field. And the sale of virtual items is a field that is just now getting the law's attention.
I can guarantee you that NCSoft hasn't reviewed all they need to know on this subject because the subject matter is changing.
You both assumed I meant I believe they have it all covered such that they can't lose in a court of law, but I didn't.
I didn't say that, just as Samuel Tow didn't rule out in his statement they might still know it if they were legally or ethically obligated to - only that that would be the reason for it.
Businesses that work with customers and provide a constant service for which they need as much customer retention as possible can work quite complex internally in this matter.
If you've worked in the legal field it really depends on in what sort of position exactly you worked if you've ever seen this, but at the very basis it comes down to it not everything even makes it to a court of law in the first place because some cases are lost the moment they come to pass since the profit in that was already determined in a previous risk assessment.
Quote:Same as with any "what vets want VS what looks good in advertisement" argument; As long as the the final result of the little formula that weighs dissatisfaction of existing customers and the probable rate of eventual cancelled subs caused by it against the tradeoff in the shape of new customers attracted and all sales attached to that yields a positive number indicating profit the course is decided.
This basic rule applies to every decision made in a business that deals with customers engaged in some sort of service.
Cases can be lost and settlements and / or fines can be paid without spending any further money on a matter simply if the profit gained from being on the wrong path for long enough before more than covers those costs.
A good example of this sort of strategy at work is the Netscape settlement in the Microsoft Antitrust Case. -
Quote:Now that we did not need 14 pages for.If Paragon Studios institute a system for refunds, then it won't be because they were legally or ethically obligated to institute one, but rather because they decided it was a smart business move.
It's all cash flow numbers.

Quote:You know I actually practice law for a living and I would never say that. I don't know what 50 states, Canada, Mexico, the EU, and however many more countries' laws state as to consumer protection. And neither do you.
If that were an issue in this context we would not be where we are today. -
Quote:I believe there is something in the new EULA about back-charging/refunds.Quote:
YOU ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT NCSOFT HAS NO OBLIGATION TO REFUND ANY PAYMENTS, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, RELATED TO AN ACCOUNT WHETHER OR NOT SUCH PAYMENTS WERE MADE OR AUTHORIZED BY YOU, FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INTERRUPTION OR UNAVAILABILITY OF SERVICE (SEE ALSO SECTION 10). YOU ACKNOWLEDGE, AND FURTHER AGREE, THAT NCSOFT MAY, IN ITS SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION, TERMINATE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 3(c) ANY ACCOUNT RELATED TO ANY ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN A REFUND OF ANY PAYMENTS -
Quote:Issue is also it can be done with things not like this. And then NCsoft will simply lock your account for your efforts. Trust me when I say they don't take very kindly to people charging back purchases like this. But if you don't believe me go ahead and knock yourself out with that.
I mean, the powerset is something that's easily identified on your account, they could in theory relock it.
But with the same PP you can buy things you can sell again on the in-game market like recipes. When you sell that the product you bought with PP is gone and nobody is gonna make an effort to tranceback what you did with it and what they need to retrieve.
For this reason all chargebacks are handled the same which is indeed banning/account locking/whatever you wanna call it. -
Quote:And would probably get you banned.I think I will
If I really really was upset, I would charge back the point purchase, I know credit cards will back the customer on this over the game company, I did it before to another company that did tick me off to that point.
But it does create a bit of a mess. -
Quote:I doubt that has anything to do with it.A LOT of people love the street justice set, so it was clearly a powerset which they felt was more of a premium set than time manipulation.
Who uses Time Manip most? Corrs and fenders (fenders at least when it gets fixed sometime in the distant future...)?
Where will you find Street Justice the most? Scrappers....
Disclaimer: Number are off, used only for illustrative purposes.
All ranged ATs combined = 675,202 toons
Scrappers = 3,156,646,344 toons
Which group are you going to charge? -

Quote:Getting links from someone else who also had to buy it to get those doesn't count. There has to be a source at one point. You can, but you have to take a roundabout route to do it: get the power names from wherever (Paragonwiki for example), then use in-game chat to bring up power info, e.g. by chatting [Heavy Blow] then clicking on the link it creates.
Far from ideal in terms of convenience and likelihood of people knowing about it, but it does work.
True, for an individual it can provide a solution to get the stats from a third party, but it's not something a business should rely on to make its approach fair. -

Quote:What do you do?There's a spider above our bed, and it's really clumsy looking. It keeps falling from the ceiling, but luckily it hasn't fallen on my bed (manages to hang from a web). I want to get rid of it by killing it or capturing it and throwing it outside, but my girlfriend is in bed asleep and she doesn't like spiders. Do I wake her up and tell her to get out of the room, or do I leave the spider and hope it doesn't fall on our bed and wake her itself?
Anything but sit down at your PC and post about it on some forum - it's not very superheroic. -

This is a demonstrative post with the intention of allowing people to learn from it how to make a post like this post that is intentionally left blank apart from this very sentence and the preceeding quote.
-
Quote:Duh? That was kinda the point.Yet by annoucing it you are also taking part and getting +1postcount.
Irony ftw
I could've told the OP this thread wasn't gonna bring the servers up any sooner, but that would've been cliché and not much more meaningful than most other replies.
In this type of thread it's hard to correct the lack of meaning, but you can avoid the cliché.
I'm disappointed you didn't see through it enough to see it wasn't irony...
And even more so you made me ruin it by now making it +2...

Quote:Fixing the end will be quite hard with the approach you and seemingly most people with you that I've seen so far took on getting def. It will be much easier to get all the numbers right if you settle for softcapped S/L/E def purely from powerpicks.Errrmmm..
Did state at the start end would be an issue and wanted more recharge but wasn't sure how to get it without making the defence suffer. The point of this thread was to get feedback and suggestions as I have not attempted build making before. If you have a suggestion on how to do this please share.
As an aside. Thanks to the help for the other so far. Big help. Have learnt alot so far in this experiment in numbers
At least get all the accolade autos if you go on with this.
One thing I would at least change in that last build you posted is swapping the slots in RoF and Fireball. Fireball recharges fast anyway. RoF will be a hell of a lot better that way. -
Quote:With Hasten, Chrono and Farsight you already have 3 powers you'd love to have on auto.As far as I know, that defense buff persists even after power boost wears off since Farsight is a click power. You just gotta make sure you use PB first. Isn't that what FF'ers have been doing for years? Then Farsight is easily perma-able out of the box and the recharge on PB is half that of Farsight, so it'll be ready every time farsight is up.
With this bit of awesomeness you're making it 4 and adding an extra complexity in casting it too.
You rather than me. -
RoF is not perma.
What's wrong with you?
And endurance is gonna be a problem. -
Quote:Never accept blinds...I received a blind invite. Ok, I thought... why not? I accepted ... doom follows
If the fenders weren't doing anything I suppose you could've waited until they were ready as it's important if you're facing mobs that are so tough on your team to ensure everyone's ready before anyone dives in. If they were doing something it obviously wasn't enough and that many red and purple conning mobs at that level may've been over your head.
I'd say you could also have said something before hitting quit, like... too low for this or I don't think this is gonna work, I'll pass. Cya.
But more importantly I think there's nearly always something to say for either side of a scenario and you shouldn't worry about it too much. -
