Definitely knocked this out of the park. Two successful runs back to back. Thanks everyone who came to help!

Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work, Zwill.

I am finding it extremely difficult to formulate any kind of coherent response to this news. Where to even begin. I suppose the beginning would be a good place.
I have played this game for nearly 8 years. It is the first and only MMO I've ever played. It's hard to believe that it all started when my boyfriend at the time told me about it. At first I told him "No, I don't want to play your stupid game." Words that haunt me, especially now. Then I started making characters. It only took me three hours of fiddling with costumes before I logged into the actual game. It wasn't long before he gave his account to me. The rest is history.
On a personal note, during my time playing this game I've moved around a great deal, which can be pretty stressful. One thing I always thought to myself was that even though I might not know anyone in my new city, I could always log into Paragon City and find familiar faces. That was always very comforting. Perhaps that is why I never felt the need to leave Champion for larger servers. It got to the point where I could see someone's character and know their global without even checking.
On that note, I am extremely proud to have been a part of the Champion server. Just the other night I was leading an iTrial and someone asked which strat we used, so I described it. They responded with "I've played on quite a few servers but we've never done that." My response: "It's a Champion thing." What I really wanted to say: "**** yeah, it's a Champion thing. That's how we roll, ************." And it's true, as a server we had our ups and downs, but there was a "Champion" way to do things, and most of the time that meant we knew how to get **** done when it came down to it. It's one thing to enjoy playing a game, but to play it with such a great community really took it over the top for me. A "thank you" doesn't begin to cover it.
Hopefully I'll get to talk to some of you before the end. If I don't, a few parting words:
Great job everyone! I'm not sure what will be next, but please let me know when you're leaving/what you'll be switching to. The password is Guinness.
All the best. -
Quote:Sounds great, Bramph.Edit: I will likely be online throughout the day Sunday, so if anyone is unable to attend Amy's run due to scheduling conflicts, I'd be willing to lead a second team the following afternoon.
Just a reminder that Placta's RHW run is at 3:30pm on Sunday. -
Got one from the middle of the first post: 34TN-FF6N-HZBD-MGP6-UWFY

Original post has been updated to include FireMedic. Lookin' good. See you folks Saturday!
-
I should be there.

Looks like we are full with Purple. However, if you need the badge please still post. Several have signed up as helpers.

Sorry I had to miss this. Thank you for hosting, Stoned Templars, and congrats to those who participated!

This Saturday September 1st at 8pm Eastern I will host a Master of 5th Column Task Force run (MoKahn). We will form up in Founders Falls by the contact starting at 7:45pm.
To earn this badge, we will need to complete the TF with no temps and no deaths. I will try to be as flexible as possible in terms of ATs, but ultimately will want the team to be balanced and have a reasonable chance at this badge. Buffers/Debuffers are highly useful. Also, the more people with Incarnate powers like Destiny buffs, the more flexible we can afford to be in terms of team composition. Therefore, please try to bring a character with those abilities.
Post in this thread if you plan on attending and indicate if you need the badge or wish to help. If you need the badge, please indicate your AT. I will be giving priority to those who a) sign up first and b) need the badge up until a point where I feel the team is not balanced properly.
See you then!
Team List:
1) @Amygdala - Ill/Cold Controller (subject to change)
2) @Ulysses Dare - Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster -needs badge
3) @Artorios Rex - BS/Regen Scrapper (or Fire/Fire Tank... both are 50+3) (need badge)
4) @FireMedic - 50+ emp/dark defender
5) @ResplendentMs - WP/MA tank or whatever
6) @AngieB - WB/MM Blaster
7) @Koriel - Emp/Psy Defender
8) Purple
(Those needing the badge shown in bold.) -
Every server is different, so I would check out each individual server forum for badge runs and channel info.
For example, on my home server Champion, we have weekly MoMagi/RHW attempts on Sundays (hosted by Placta) and MoTF/SF/Trial runs on Saturday evenings (that I host). There is a thread where you can post which badges you are missing. I review it regularly and schedule things accordingly. -
For me, the difference between good players and bad players largely revolves around their mindset and not the sum of the individual skills they have (game knowledge, reflexes, min/maxed builds, etc.) If someone shows that they have a willingness to learn, adapt, work with other players, patience and so forth, they will naturally develop "skills" that improve their game play with time and experience. Personally, I'd rather team with players with those attributes on a build with SOs than someone with a min/maxed build that refuses to co-operate with a group.
Quote:I try to watch for both quite often. Which is easier to spot depends on the nature of the task at hand. Certain situations will be more revealing than others. In terms of accidental vs purposeful, I'd say consistency plays a role in deciding that. I try to make notes about players if they do something that stands out to me, be it good or bad, which makes it easier to judge consistency.Originally Posted by Thirty-SevenFurther, do you think it is easier to spot someone playing well or poorly, and how can you tell the difference between doing something good accidentally from doing it purposefully?

Quote:I think the flat space works well when you have him out in the open. However, there seem to be some places that he gets wedged into that are just as bad, if not worse, than the area with spikes in the bowl. The idea behind pulling him there in the first place was to allow people to maintain line of sight at all times as they are dodging the lightning. So I think the most important point is that wherever we decide to fight him, be it in the bowl or on the flats, he has to be out in the open, and keeping him in the open should be a priority.Myself - I like it in the cratered area. The "flat" space seems to have more obstacles in my way than in the crater. First couple of times I'd have tyrant in my sights -but geography got in the way.
As for the run itself, it was a great effort by all. I have no doubt in my mind that the league we had today could have pulled it off. The fact we got him down to around 27% without even summoning Lore is very impressive. That is probably the furthest I've seen any league, including successful leagues, make it without using Lore. So in my mind the badge was well within our reach.
I think an important lesson from this run would be that there is a such thing as taking too much time. I'm not talking about running out of time, but as time goes on the more the fatigue of doing the same thing over and over again sets in and can result in more deaths which essentially translates into wasted resources (Ultimates and Lore specifically). So I think next time if we get him down to 30% with relative ease, we shouldn't worry too much about finding out where our "wall" is and instead just pull out the big guns and be done with it. Once we start losing ground after a bad round of lightning it's very difficult to regain it.
Overall though, solid attempt. I'll try to make it to the next one. -
Just some pieces of information/tips I'd like to share that were derived from running quite a few badge runs/players' ideas.
Quote:When Keyes got changed, the pulse damage got lowered as well. It now hits for a maximum of 35%, meaning Anti-Anti Matter isn't nearly as painful as it used to be.Anti-Antimatter: Bring AM down to below 10% of his health while raiding Reactor Hope, then finish the trial. (So basically that auto-hit pulse will be doing like 90-95% damage with each hit).
Quote:Originally Posted by EmperorSteeleBunker Buster: During the attack on Reactor Infinity, destroy all doors to a bunker within 3 seconds. Repeat for the other bunkers.
-Will take some coordination, but otherwise seems simple enough. The tough part will be allocating enough people to do this while also proceeding with the mission before time runs out.
- Split the league into 3 teams. Assign each team to a door (left, center, right).
- Get a volunteer from each team to be in charge of damaging the door their team is responsible for down to about 500-750 HP or a threshold of your choosing. This helps control the rate of the damage as it can be much more difficult to control several other people attacking the doors.
- Once all 3 doors are at the stopping point, call for teams to fire Judgement at their door. I usually count down from 3 (3, 2, 1, FIRE!).
- Rinse/repeat for the next 2 bunkers.
Note: You can control when Anti-Matter arrives by limiting the number of glowies clicked. After 5 glowies, the timer for his arrival starts.
Quote:Originally Posted by EmperorSteeleLoves A Challenge: Do not destroy any terminals during the final boss fight, and don't let anyone die!
-HARD! Not only is not dying during this phase difficult, but you essentially have to do so much damage to AM that he can't regen it all back for the several seconds he's using the terminals. Also, he uses Time Stop the first time he reaches one of several health points (80, 50, and 15% or something weird like that? I've heard it's not the standard 75/50/25). We'd basically have to fight him until he's used up his time stops, then go in for the kill. AND in order to avoid deaths during this phase, we'd also have to...
What makes this badge easier (aside from talented players with healing powers, Rebirths, etc.) is if people are good about managing their Disintegration. It is entirely possible to heal yourself through Disintegration without any outside help. All anyone has to do is remember to fill up on greens, back away from Anti-Matter and pop greens as they take damage so that they are at full health again before the next damage tick.
Quote:Originally Posted by EmperorSteeleAvoids the Green Stuff: Don't let anyone get caught in the Oblit beam.
-Medium. As long as there isn't a Time Stop effect in place, people should have plenty of time to move. Oblit beams occur on a timer, so once there's 5-3 seconds left, stop attacking and run! If AM is near one of his health points where he uses Time Stop, then cease fire and get ready to run.
- If people aren't so great at watching the actual timer, remind them that there is a large red text warning that tells you the beam is about to fire. Once they see that pop up, everyone should stop attacking, watch the ground by their feet and get ready to move.
- Make sure no one is flying during the fight, as it can cause "air beams". If a beam spawns in mid air, everyone below it will get hit. These can be difficult to spot.

-...? I don't remember this part, so what is this I don't even...?
Quote:Originally Posted by EmperorSteeleDaylight Saver: Defeat Mother Mayhem while not allowing Aurora Borealis' health to fall below 75%, then complete the trial.
- Sounds easy enough. I don't know if A.B. is healable. If not, then we're simply on a clock: Summon all lore pets and go nuts!
If you have a Tanker or Brute, have them pull Mother Mayhem behind one of the pillars so that she is out of the portal's line of sight. This prevents the portal's decay, allowing you full access to Aurora's room throughout the fight.
Good luck on your runs! -
Great job on the MoMLTF all. I will be away Saturday the 25th but will most likely host a MoKahn the following week since it looks like quite a few people need that badge.

Congrats to everyone who came out tonight. We took our time with things but were able to knock it out in 1:17. Thanks for an awesome team.

And with Bramphousian, looks like we're full! The team looks great. See you guys Saturday night.

Great raid all. Thanks again CL for hosting.
