  1. The cuddly not-quite-a-fish girl is definately up there on the list of favorites (as is Ice Mistral), but still only second candle to good ol' Mako.

It's the entire tragedy of it, really - when you stop to think about it, all he wanted was to be treated like a normal person. He kept getting treated like a monstrous freak, instead. In the end, he decided that if the world was going to label him a monster... he was going to be the biggest, baddest freakin' monster on the planet, and rip apart anyone he had to in order to make it happen.

Total surrender to what people said he was, despite all his prior dreams of becoming anything but. A rather pitiable state of affairs.

...that, and I forgot to mention the dude freakin' lobs sharks at you. That's just plain AWESOME.
  2. About the only things I'm considering at the moment is turning all of my Bot/Storm's bots energy blasts yellow (My mighty Weatherbots shall finally have their sun-guns!), and my Psi/Men's Psi-Blasts red (A proud, Soviet color).

    Psychic

    [ QUOTE ]
Psychic Blast seems to be intended to pair with Mental Manipulation. They put Psychic Scream in the secondary when I feel it should have been in the primary.

They also gave the Blasters a Nurfed Version of Will Domination. It does less damage , has a longer recharge and the same sleep ability as the defender version. Scaling up the damage on will domination to scale properly in relation to the defender version would have been a good diffrance maker in the set. Will Domination should do more damage for blasters than defenders, not less.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically, after everything (AT modifiers et. all) factors through, it does do more damage. >> It's just 7 points more.
  4. Red! One of the proud colors of the Soviet Republic.

The people will always need a champion, comrade.

    Psychic

Psi's pretty lackluster as anything but a single-target set - where it compares favorably (if you don't mind the extra recharge) with Ice and Fire for a top damage spot... but only for single-target damage.

Ice manages to keep a top ST damage spot without completely giving up AoE damage (Frost Breath and Ice Storm), and maintaining a significant level of control (Bothe Freeze Rays) as well, which is somewhat regrettable. Fire... well, all it does is blow things up. There's not much of a contest there.

I'd honestly not recommend pairing it up with a single-target secondary like Electric or Energy Manipulation, and instead looking at something that's going to give you either a bit more control (Ice, Devices) or with more AoE damage (Fire, Mental). It's not a bad decision to go Psi/NRG, though, but that's something that feels more like a PVP choice then a PVE one. :/

I think the only thing that really shines about Psi is that it gets it's full ST damage chain (Mental Blast, TK Blast, Will Domination) fairly early compared to Fire or Ice, and gets full range leverage out of it for hover-sniping as well (though you'll only really see that happen outdoors or in some very select indoor maps anyway).

It's not an ideal choice, but it should still be fine for most PVE, especially solo. Less so on a team, though.
  6. Numina. Because she's cute *and* has a nifty power-set, for a ghost-babe!

Mako... because he's the only one of the patrons that just feels interesting to me. I mean, seriously... We have a merc written below his intelligence level who's basic strategy seems to be 'Hit it a lot', the token chick who's a darkity-dark-darkerson, and Captain Emopants McIwannabeahero. Out of the four, I'll take the guy that's an evil, sadistic jerk because he felt if he was gonna be treated like a monster... he's damn well gonna be one.

A bold red word next to a series of dull greyish white words calls the attention of the eye and nags at an unconscious level to have attention payed to it. It's fairly basic psychology, whatever your name is this month.

And this is why my OCD compulses me to hit the spam button every time I open it and see 'Empty' filling it, with the occasional not-empty-but-still-spam.

Oddly, the only red tag I've mentally blocked out is my Team tab, probably because it's almost always on the edges of my vision (and thus not as present in the mind).

By the time the leaders could afford that sort of thing they were all farming themselves past Silver Mantis anyway. I'd imagine it's worse with architect now.

How can you pre-empt something you've already brought up?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Every SG I've got a character in has a mission computer, or the arcane equivalent. And in fact, I'd like to see at least a hero TF available out of it, since the CoP isn't.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, it's pretty well just flavor blueside.
  10. Oddly, my blueside SG just recently ran the SF on our villains, after the discovery that not a lot of us had actually *done* any of the Villain-side strikeforce content.

Honestly, though, Redside is somewhat starved for Strikeforces in comparison to Blueside, and I'd really just like to see them cover the level-range gaps. While the mission computer can be slightly prohibitive towards getting into the Silver Mantis TF, I'd honestly prefer to see more content given to that particular base item, as opposed to less. It has a really neat feel to it that I feel is rather missing in the rest of the game.

Still... It's the only non-CoP SF/Trial that requires the Mission Computer, and I think that you may be exaggerating the issue a bit.

EDIT: Gosh darnit, Bill, we gotta stop meeting like this.

Every character I log onto gets 5 or 6 AE badges awarded to them, without ever having set foot into AE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did any of your other characters got into AE ? some of the AE badge are account-wide.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. I get 11 at the moment (enough to qualify for Architect X) just from account-wides.

I'll be really... really.. glad when they pare down the number of badges from AE.

It is kinda funny how much of that has been (or will shortly be) put in the game. Especially when one considers that most forumits dismissed the whole thing out of hand as reckless pipe-dream material.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno, when I commented on it, I did it with reserved caution because it was just a marketing survey. While it could have been things on the drawing board, that's just what they were - ideas on the drawing board, that could at any time be dropped or changed.

The fact we got some of them doesn't really make any of the other stuff more or less likely at this time. It's all whether the developers feel they want to go that route, after all.

  19. Phew. Today's been a long day of unintended problems and fortunate half-[censored] saves.

Got through my two bigger build projects, and everytime I hit an issue I found a way to circumvent it in order to push on to the next step. First problem was the wrong pin size on the memory sticks (older PCs)... but I found a spare stick on another machine and used that instead.

Unfortunately, I'd been using that machine as a surrogate to try and get my mom a temporary PC while hers was out on repair (Dell Hybrids are stupid as heck), but then I remembered I had a spare HDD (that was SATA, whereas the old PC I was upgrading was entirely EIDE), and two spare memory sticks laying around (the exact things I had ripped out of my old case in making my current one). So I replaced all those only to find...

I needed a keyboard. I'm waiting for my assistant to wake up and continue the project (temporarily hooking up a laptop HDD to try and pull information off of it, and hook up an EIDE DVD drive on the one EIDE cable my old case has to install a new OS) before I switch keyboards (My old case was a Dell slimline that didn't have proper keyboard/mouse cables, but had a glut of USB devices; My current keyboard is from it, and my current case is actually set up properly to accept standard keyboard interfaces).

All in all... a net gain all around today.

    Utility toons

I tend to do this on occasion - usually with characters that only exist to be played in teams. Most of my Defenders really fit this example, except the rare one or two.

Though, as a point... it's worth mentioning that you're 'can-openers' probably could have benefitted from being higher level, especially with the exemping system in place. While merits sort of reduce the need (though some of the stuff in those ranges still provides fairly good merits for getting specific things), especially if you set up a build *specifically* to function in those ranges. More slots at better values for the powers in question, and all. << But that's just an observation of how I'd go into it.

At the moment, my Bane Spider is slowly shaping up to be a very useful multi-purpose character. Running flashbacks quickly for merits in my Bane build, and my Huntsman setup for doing Strikeforces (with double leadership toggles as I go up) for a faster turnaround. Gives me a bit more flexibility on getting stuff I need for specific characters (like Steadfasts or KB-Protects).

I think the only other characters I have set up like that right now is my Rikti-themed Mind/Empathy, who's designed to make group functions a lot easier, and my Bot/Storm who's really just there to farm prestige until I can get a different character set up to do it.
  22. It's in the open discussion of the i15 Test forums, in one of the stickied threads. Under Development. There's also scattered threads in there about it.

They were added in as a last minute push, to make absolutely sure we got them 'soon', as opposed to 'Sometime around i17'.

EDIT: Fetched link for easy access.

In PVP, it's actually a far closer comparison (and only between Fire and Psi) then I had expected, however, everyone gets at least 40% Resistance to Psionics in PVP as well (reducing the total damage there), with the exception being Tankers, Brutes, Stalkers, and Scrappers only getting 10% base resistance... and enhancable well up to over 50% in some (most) sets with just SOs, and those sets that don't get more then 10% are purely defensive sets that get additional Psi defense instead.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Was this changed in I14? Cause Tankers and MasterMinds get 0% Resistance in PvP zones as of I13.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Every Tanker has one toggle that will provide either Psionic Resistance (up to 20-30%, enhancable) or Psionic Defense.

Masterminds, I didn't actually check. >> But, if they don't, that's kind of weird that literally everyone else does get 40% base resistance (Unless they have a Defense primary or secondary, in which case they get 10% or 0%, and additional resistance/defense in a toggle).

EDIT: Checked it out - everyone but Tankers and Masterminds get 10% resistance at minimum (Stalkers, Brutes, Scrappers, VEATs), or 40% (Controllers, Defenders, Corrupters, Blasters, Dominators). HEATs get 15%. Tankers get a toggle with Psi resistance or defense, and Masterminds *only* get Resist (or Defense)-all in their APP toggles (like all of the other squishies do).

...Bad rap for MMs, but then again, they do sort of have ridiculous HP.
  24. I personally like Plant for the added control, but Fire does have the more useful (and less wonky) pet. And can get the job done, though I'm not exactly fond of how it does it.

Do what I do in such times - roll a six-sided die and go with whatever your gut decides on anyway. Or whatever comes up on the roll.
