Quote:Or you could do it the dirty hack way and have inherents give natural defense bonsues or penalties. The soft cap would still be in place but different ATs would require different amounts to reach it.Well the Standard Code Rant applies but given what we do know this is pretty much impossible. The soft cap exists because it's the point where a standard NPC's pre-accuracy chance to hit will be at the minimum allowed by the system (5%). So to do that the devs would have to re-write the entire combat engine so that base To Hit varied depending on the target.
But the concept is kind of dumb in general, it would be balancing ATs around the high end. -
Freemies have access to:
The Zone Itself
Fireball (range 30-50)
Trilogy (range 30-50)
Sir Lionel (Range 30-39)
Atherton Cromwell (Range 30-39).
Anything else requires a VIP subscription.
As for why there's no Night Ward pack yet. Honestly don't know. First Ward I believe was for sale as soon as it went live. And nothing about the zone was ever advertised as 'VIP Exclusive', so it's actually a surprise it hasn't been put on the market yet. -

Agreed, I like Craig as Bond. Casino Royale was faboo. Quantum of Solace was... less so. but I have good hopes for this.

Squee, Q! And he's CUTE!
Looks great. Can't wait to see it -
Likely a copy/pasta error.
Possibly an i24 oopsie, they could be proliferating an epic pool or two to new ATs. -
You can also burn 1 of each uncommon and 100 threads to make a rare, which is extremely handy.

Quote:Yup, totally agree. Which is likely why they haven't done that in quite a while. There's a storyline in Striga? It's kinda-sorta there if you squint, but there's no real sense that the arcs and missions build on each other. Even the Hollows (which also has the need to run a trial to get resolution) has a more visible story.
I see needing to run a task force (which you don't really see unless you're the leader) to resolve a story line as a serious flaw in story design. But even without finding out who was really behind that final ritual, we're still told that we've managed to stop Salamanca from being sucked into the spirit world. That should be a really big deal, but it feels like an afterthought.
I contrast that with the RWZ, where the LGTF is the resolution of the whole storyline. But you can just run the arcs and still feel a sense of major accomplishment. There are some plot threads dangling, but it doesn't feel incomplete without the TF. -
For the forum, perhaps. but the forums = a very small margin of the playerbase.

Quote:Actually, given when Water Blast came out, whichever set is up next is probably coming next week or the week after. You do realize that having just released Water Blast not that long ago, that the odds are rather low that they'll be releasing either Bio Armor or Nature Affinity in the immediate future, right? And that the odds of both sets being released at the same time is even lower than that?
Patience, young padawan. There's a release schedule in place; we'll get new shinies when the production and marketing teams have agreed that they should be given to us.
Either way they both seem 'ready', in that it's been a while since the devs tweaked them via beta patch.
They usually do the announcements at the coffee talk anyway, so we're a day ahead of any real news. -
Probably because the final 'save the day' moment in Croatoa's story happens in the Katie Hannon TF. Like how Striga's storyline is finished in the Hess TF.

Quote:You can step off that little soapbox any time.So now because true balance is "impossible", ie folks don't want to work that hard, we're trying to compromise with "fair"?
I didn't realize that Arbiter Hawk and Synapse were actually Castle.
No compromises. Fix the game. It's not hard; it simply requires commitment. -
Yes, they're aware of it. They made some announcements saying they know the server is having problems and they're working on it. Not much more can be done.

Quote:Well, as a counter challenge, which zones do you think -need- new arcs/TFs? Where are the gaps in the game right now?*sighs* I wouldn't even know where to begin. I could make a case for virtually every zone in the game, and almost every level.
*brightens*
There's a challenge... give me a zone and I'll offer a suggestion of a story arc or TF for it.

I have a special hatred for it because it was one of the first time teaming with a good friend who is very shy and lacking in self confidence. After failing that mission he blamed himself and took off for the night, kind of spoiled the otherwise good mood. So yeah, I will never ever ever ever do that mission again.
-
For best trial, I'd honestly have to pick the Underground just because I -love- the dungeon crawl feel to it and how it progresses from the sharp clean lines of the praetorian underground into the warped geiger-esque Devouring Earth corrupted tunnels culminating in the only non-Loyalist AV fight in the trials to date.
Crotoa is pretty good too -except- that gods awful mission for defending the gate, -hated- that mission with a passion, and the less obnoxious but still very tedious defending the cairn finale. -
Quote:You know that's still a co-op zone right? You basically just described Cimerora. A co-op zone doesn't have to mean a single arc track and we're probably due for another where heroes and villains have separate arcs to do.My first suggestion matches what we are discussing about the Shadow Shard. A non-cooperative zone, but with content and access for both sides. I don't think the map needs an overhaul, but maybe add 1 (non-huge) extra incarnate zone. Navigation might be solved as part of the story.
Honestly the way the devs talked at the summit the choice for co-op zones was something like 1 6 arc track for both sides, or each side got separate 3 arc tracks.
I'd agree with revamping the shard. Though it would likely be a multi-issue task as the devs hinted at in the summit. Ideally >> I would probably collapse one of the zones into one of the others, like nixing the cascade archipelago and expanding some land mass into Firebase Zulu, the Chantry, and The Storm Palace. Let Zulu be 40-45, Chantry 45-50, and Storm Palace 50+. -
Actually, honestly, I think I look forward to more incarnate content than I do new powers. The trials are alright but really they're pretty quick. Dark Astoria and the Emperor's sword are fantastic, but I'd like -more-. Another zone at least.
-
Yeah incarnate powers are already 45+ as it is and there's really not as much content in that range as you'd think. Pretty much anything endgame is already going to -be- Incarnate content unless they toss freemies a bone with some new normal 40-50 content.
-
I was thinking about it, honestly the reason they probably haven't done this is how trivial it could make single targets. Judgments are pretty strong, but their damage is AoE based so it's not as strong as it could be were it a ST. In the general scheme of things, by your lonesome or even on a team it probably wouldn't tip the scales a lot, but think about being on a league of 24 folks each toting a ST 'nuke'.
-
Yeah, looking forward to them. Totally unsure what else we'll be getting since they covered a lot of the most basic stuff and they don't want to just keep giving us 'bigger numbers'.
be interested to see what they come up with. -
Quote:Apparently out of 'respect for Ledger'. Which... I don't necessarily agree with, I don't think -he- would have agreed with it either, but I can understand the sentiment. While the 'judgement' scenes with Crane were fun, I would have really liked to have seen those same scenes with Heath Ledgers Joker, clearly I understand why that wasn't possible, it's just more of a 'what if..?' scenario, which brings up something that's bugging me. Why was 'the clown' completely written out of the Nolans universe as of TDKR? I don't recall a single mention of him.

And people wonder why the target for +To Hit requires a lot of juggling to perma.
