Quote:Having ninja tricks doesn't =/= being a straight up pajama toter. Look at batman.I don't think that's the point of creating fairly conceptually malleable powersets, though. The 'Hey Ninja Ninja!' cries emanating from Martial Assault are already pretty constricting in terms of concept, but we will (hopefully) be able to come up with something that makes a character not just a ninja. If "Ninjitsu Control" were an offered pairing, it'd be, "Hey you, make a ninja." Something tells me the devs would like us to go somewhat beyond our 12-year-old-boy fascination with ninjas...and make technological, electricity spewing ninjas, or darkness controlling ninjas, or fiery imp controlling ninjas. Maybe someone will make the illogical plant controlling ninja, who cuts his or her victims free of the vines of doom with ninja stars.

Quote:Yeah, that ship sailed a while ago. You've also got Praetorians attacking in Twinshot's arc, devastating Skyway City in the Stutter TF, all before 'the invasion and reasons thereof' in the late game. Plus the whole statesman thing. Faultline has kiddy Penny (15-25), Independence Port has modern Penny 20-25), while Lady grey's TF has the in-between. And the new SSAs start at 30, but if you have to go strictly by level they'd all be 50+. Every 'new' event would have to be 50+ without going in and retconning stuff when you make lower level content.Because it'll no longer be consistent and some of us actually care about story? You'll have Roy Cooling and Maria Jenkins fretting over the Praetorians and their invasion while Marauder's kicking it in Atlas and Cole's prisoner? All sense of immersion would be dead.
Leveling as a timeline doesn't work if you can't progress the level cap, ever. -

See title. Something 'natural' to pair with upcoming Martial Assault. I foresee lots of lethal/toxic stuff. Sticky bombs for immobilization, poison darts for hold, maybe a poison gas bomb for the AoE hold. Ninja for a pet. Maybe like a smoke bomb/smoke flash style power. A confuse or a sleep in there somewhere. Maybe a stealth power, something between Shadow Fall/steamy mist/cloaking device and Invisibility in terms of stealthiness (That is, a lil stronger than the former, but maybe not as strong as the latter?)

Quote:Alternate Dimensions =/= Alternate timelines. You can have Primal and Praetorian people running together. We've also got two Auroras, and Pendragon is the Praetorian Hero 1, who is pal'ing about with Vanguard as of now.Interesting. Very interesting. So no more BaB or will Maurader and BaB coexist in the same world?
Seems like I24 is not just fixing a lot of things, but also pushing story forward more. -

Quote:yeah, usI don't know if this is real, but if it is... Marauder never struck me as a truly evil, guy. He's just a really really... Really really really rough bruiser with muscle where his brain should be. I'm thinking he can be salvaged if there's someone sufficiently strong enough to kick his *** a few times until the new status quo sinks in.

Quote:Yeah, that's what I was thinking. And it's one of the few moral choices that actually has a significant outcome. That could cause problems by making one of the moral choices "official" - although they already did that in a way with Katie Douglas - the moral choice to help free her or re-enslave here during her GR arc seems to be decided in favor of freeing her once we run into her again in First Ward - so it's possible that they could also decide that the canon version of events was that Washington was taken down and Cleo lived.
Though i can also see her death being impetus for him to finally quit after Cole's empire goes belly up. -

Quote:Actually, I wonder if we'll get closure on that plotline. Maybe Cleo survives, it'd be a more believable switch if she was one that helped bring him over to Blueside.SPOILERS!
Actually, if you played responsibilities arcs up to Cleopatra and remain loyal, then talk to Maurader and prod his apparent indifference about Cleopatra's betrayal and death, you really get a new feel for the guy.
He says that, yes, he does care, yes, he's hurt she betrayed him, but he's actually even more frustrated by the whole situation and admits he doesn't really care whether Cole or the Resistance wins. He'll fight hard for his side, but in the end, having a victor either way to him would have meant things like Cleopatra betraying him wouldn't happen anymore. -
Quote:I'm telling you, we need Ninjitsu control. Sticky bombs, poison darts, poison bombs, ninja pet. Maybe a placate in there. The problem I have with Martial Assault is just no natural primary to go with it. Shurikens + Martial Arts works awesomely for a Batman style character, but not if I have to pair it up with Mind Control or something.
EDIT: Not to say that the set isn't interesting. This is just a nitpick. I'm still rather excited to be able to try this out. -

Quote:This is City of Heroes, not just Primal Earth. Praetoria just isn't going to go away and there's a rich collection of different characters and concepts ripe to be used.It doesn't matter who you think is cooler, though. This is Primal Earth, not Praetoria. We need to focus more on our down home characters instead of putting focus on characters that really have no part in our dimension and, in Marauder's case at least, have been our sworn enemies for two years.
I'm hoping it's just a hype picture, but with talk of revamping zones, I'm suspicious that Praetoria will find a way to leak into even more Primal zones.
And with Praetoria trashed and Cole's empire gutted, it was pretty inevitable survivors would end up on this side of the pond. Honestly I'm hoping one of the revamps deals with where to stick th refugees, maybe mix in some Praetorian low level mobs, like in Independence Port. -
Quote:/disagree.Please don't start replacing Primal NPCs with Praetorian ones. It's bad enough we focused on Prae for two years. We don't need more spotlight on them :\
Some of the Praetorians are just plain cooler. I'll take Marauder over Back Alley Brawler any day.
And they did say they had bigger plans for Back Alley brawler since he isn't going to handle the STF. -
Maybe he got clued in to all the illicit stuff with Hamidon and the like. He was a brute but he did actually seem to care about his job, even though he enjoyed it for the chance to crack skulls.
Dunno! I'm sure the idea was to shock us. Which. Yeah. well done! -
Me too! Very White Knight. I'm sure this is going to spawn more "WANT KNIGHT ARMOR" posts. I like Aurora's costume too.
Now you have to wonder, are they -all- going to be Trainers? -

It'd be Ninjitsu control, throwing sticky bombs for immobilize, and the holds would be poison needles (ST) and choking poison bombs (aoe). T9 pet would be a ninja with similar controls.
-
It looked kinda like the ninja run stance and just -instantly- appearing where the marker is placed. Just -zip- -zip- and so on

You can complete Dark Astoria and feel you saved the world. Dilemma Diabolique is less a 'wrap up' to the story at large and more like a wrap up to a single side thread. It's sort of epic, but feels more like an "OH AND THIS HAPPENS TOO, QUICK SAVE THE WORLD AGAIN REAL FAST".
