  1. That's dumb. There's almost no etymology or phrase history on that site. What good is tracking updates to the English language if you don't point out the evolution of it?

    Oi.

That was excellent. Never seen that before and I had to watch the entire thing. Even better than the Sesame Street NWA "F- Tha Police"

    Thank you!

Heh. Makes me real glad I went with it over a generic one, then.

To be perfectly honest, the gender bending is not a problem with me.

What I have a problem with is the /emote SuperSerum. Basically, I have a problem with someone injecting themselves with something to change a costume. Perhaps I am being too conservative, but I remember a time when it was not considered appropriate to directly show injecting things on TV, not sure if or when that changed. I still don't think this would be appropriate for a game.

This is just my personal feeling and I'm not going to get all heavy handed about it, but it does disturb me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I still don't see as much of a problem with it, in strict comparison to everything else that happens in the game as well. The simulated drug use may have a point, with the sole exception that we actually have villain groups in the game (the Skulls and the Trolls, to name a few) that are specifically stated as either engaging in heavy drug use, or the peddling/pushing thereof as well. And we can reasonably assume that The Lost also engage in a bit of this, though I'm sure the initial doses on at least a few victims of The Change are non-consentual.

Not that I'm exactly disagreeing, as I haven't seen the Super Serum emote yet ( ), but find that in comparison to some of the other stuff already in-game it doesn't bother me as badly.
  5. It's a very slick, melee-centric combination. Some good synergy between the two, and very fun to play. I'd definately recommend it, because while it wasn't exactly my cup of tea, I did enjoy it and could see where it could really shine.

That said, Ice/Ice is likely to be a very solid choice as well (and fairly melee-centric as well), so it's really just whatever you can get a concept for.

i fail to see how Disney has cross dressing in there movies. If they have and im unaware of it then plz provide a better example then then Mulan.

You want a better example? Well here ya go.

What's next? Is the OP going to petition the devs to restrict players to only making characters the same sex as they are in real life?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Random fun sidepoint: A notable T-rated game (Final Fantasy 7) not only had the main character (Cloud Strife) engage in cross-dressing (including a physical contest with a very... questionable set of gentlemen in order to acquire a wig to make a more convincing costume and a trip to a... gentleman's club to acquire both make-up and undergarments), but also has him posing as an 'escort' leading to a rather... quirky scene.

That was rather broadly covered in 'suggestive themes'.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Wow... I sooo don't remember that... yet at the same time it sounds so familiar...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sadly enough, everything but the wig and dress were optional, but that section of the Slums had a lot of things I'd consider fairly 'adult' (the gentleman's club, where you can glance in on various rooms, the fact you had to pose as a woman [and a CUTE one, to get in] to enter the manse of a lecherous pervert for what is clearly an 'escort' job) are just the start of that particular games really questionable content when you break it down. :3

I think instead of an explicit anime expansion, it'd just be better to find cool/interesting individual costume pieces and ask Jay to add them to the game, in Jay's costume request thread. There's lots of neat individual pieces that could be suggested... and just because the suggestion's origin is anime, doesn't make them intrinsicly 'anime' pieces.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. Just because it seems inherent to a specific style of art, doesn't mean it's limited to that specific style alone. Especially in the realm of comic-books. Anime art stylings are just as wide and varied as Western art stylings, after all, and sometimes the two sort of blend together (whether by purpose or design - see also: Teen Titans or Avatar: The Last Airbender, or even Megas XLR [Seriously. Megas pretty well summed up and parodied the entire 'giant robot' thing while doing a fairly good job of Westernizing it for the most part, except specifically when they were making fun of it]).

Honestly, I'd like to see more large-esque glove/boot options (sort of like the Enforcer and Large Robotic pieces - both of which give sort of an anime-esque feel, as does the Vanguard and their Talsorian weapons) of more varied sizes.

Somebody had an idea for a terrorist villain and wanted to know if screaming "Allah Akhbar!" while popping off self destruct was a petitionable offense. Needless to say, the idea did NOT go over well, with many posters saying that they would petition such in a heartbeat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Truly, epic lulz. I would be more sympathetic if this stereotype were NOT borne out yet again any time one switches on the evening news. Since it happens every day IRL - and often more than once per day - I'm not seeing where the alleged slur is.

Moral of the story: do stupid stuff IRL, open yourself up for lampooning. I fail to see this as some horrific problem demanding immediate game-master action.

Ridiculous? Well, okay, there you got me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was throwing out a generalization. Like all generalizations, there's always going to be exceptions, though there was enough supporting evidence from a number of posters to point out that the problem was going both ways. Thusly, I felt the need to highlight the hypocrisy. :3
  16. Karen Stelvind - Magitek, Corrupt Corporate Executive

There's a whole laundry list of ones she actually fits, but those two pretty well define the concept she has. Anyone that's run my arcs probably has a pretty good idea (though it's worth noting she's just the current CEO, and not the founder *or* mastermind behind the scheme. She is just pawn, in game of life).
  17. This thread depresses me.

The inaccurate premise that started it, and the hateful, ridiculous comments on both sides are really just about the worst possible kind of intolerance ever.

Why can't we all just agree to get along and accept each other for who we are? And I don't mean who we're perceived as, but who we really are on the inside? Sheesh.

At any rate, in regards to the OP... You're taking a very short-sighted and limited view to the Super Science power in general (the ability to alter your height and character model - I stress that point most heavily) by assuming that it will only be used by what you consider 'deviants' (which is a seperate issue neither here nor there) to play 'cross-gender' (misnomer: Not all model swaps can be assumed to be gender-bending) when it may be that only a select percentage will seek to do so (and that the lifespan of those characters is questionable at best).

What about the person that wants to have a size-altering hero, that goes from 'mild mannered Bob Johnson' to 'Ripped Studwell' through the use of whatever means at hand? What about someone that builds a gender-netural giant robot suit to save the day (happens a lot in comics)? Should those concepts be denied or ignored just because some people might choose to do something you consider morally offensive?

Do you go on similar tirades when other things you find morally questionable appear in game? I'm sure there's a plethora of things that you can think of that fit this category as well, that are fully allowed by the current game engine. Where exactly are we drawing a line, here? Why is that stuff tolerated (by you, the OP), and that this one thing is bad enough you have to demand it stop?

And why so controlling over what other people do with their characters and time? I think I'd go mad if I had to spend my entire time worrying about what someone might or might not do if I stopped and thought about it - there's also far worse things available that is marketed at Teens then just one small aspect of this game that isn't even available to everyone that plays it. I could probably generate a list, but that seems rather counter to the discussion, doesn't it? (And been done.)

    Sheesh.

And your point? Like you have no bugs? Please. Thanks for your "trolling" of the forums. : D

    [/ QUOTE ]

    My point is

    Standard Code Rant

If you can't understand anything about programs, how they work, how they're coded, and how complicated even the most simple program really is, then your demands that "all bugs must be fixed NAO" can not be taken seriously.

    Therefor, I dismiss it.

    Discussion ended.

[/ QUOTE ] Don't be dumb. He doesn't need to know a damn thing about programming to want bugs fixed.

[/ QUOTE ]"Wanting bugs fixed" is hardly what he was doing. He was ranting, that's it.

[/ QUOTE ] Either way, the OP's programming knowledge isn't relevant in any way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True, but it'd help understand why it's not feasible (possible, yes - feasible? Most likely not) to have a bug-free game, or how fixing stuff isn't as easy as it looks on the outside.

I don't know a lot about building a house, but what I know about both physics, architecture, and construction both tell me that it's damn hard to do it (provided you can get the paperwork to start the project in the first place), and not have at least one or two problems crop up at some point.

EDIT: And while it could have been pointed out better (Oh, the forums we post in!), the OP still hasn't exactly been the most level-headed, polite, or understanding person about it when it was brought up. (I was tempted to use the term 'ignorant little twerp' somewhere in there, but found it contrary to my goal here and a little more rude then I felt like being. However, not quite rude or contrary enough not to go on record as being considered.)
  20. Only when they fix and re-add some of the others back in.

No sense adding new stuff until then, IMO. Some parity across sides would also be nice re: TF/SFs, in both reward and method of acquisition (Heroes really need a Mission Computer-Only TF; Heck, I'd like to see more of those in general).

    Just sayin'.

  22. Overqueen. Because I can't help but chuckle every darn time I think of the character.

Other then that, I'm really content with most of my names, but none of them exactly stand out too much.
  23. I'm gonna weigh in with Aprosaath on this one. Whatever it ends up being (guidelines for general things, and hard rules for stuff that can get you DQ'd would be nice as an aside), it needs to be consistent and clear.

For the most part, though... Let the creativity flow! But even for-fun stuff can benefit from a few rules here and there, to make sure it stays for-fun. I'm sure you'll work it out, TA! (I'd normally be more verbose on this kind of thing, but I just got done dealing with family and my brain is in reboot mode).
  24. The Hand of Fate (my trusty never-fail d6) sez: Tacky_Tricky.

It was another close call this month. :/ But, at the end of the day, I went with the die-roll (after narrowing it down to two potentials), and can't exactly disagree with my decision.

The lines and colors really struck a chord, all blending into one very awesome piece.

...Though it's looking more and more like fangirlism at this point. <_< I really am trying to be impartial. Honest!
