It's not bad if you click the high quality link then set it to full screen. Pixel-ly but, hey, that's YouTube circa 2008.
Aisynia, you might try uploading to WeGame.com to see if the quality comes out better. -
Oh, it's only been since November.... TWO THOUSAND SIX??? Lawdy!
Better-than-YouTube version of Louie
I've got Tink but it has an error in it. I can play it off my hard drive but WeGame won't take it. I can't play it if I use my browser to try and view it, either.
Ah good, looks like I still have a little space on my Roadrunner so here's a link. If you just click on it, it will play for about a minute then die. You'll have to right click on the link, select a Save option, then play with Windows Media Player or some such. Why WMP will play it from a file but not a stream, I have no idea.
P.S. I don't have room for this video on my own account so don't expect that file to stay long. I think I can keep it a week or so. -

I tried various flavors of drivers with the v2 patch installed and CoH invariably crashes after 0-10 minutes of doing essentially nothing in game.

That's MIGHTY fast for this bug. It could happen that fast for you once in awhile but, for the most part, it should take longer than 30 minutes. Given that the fix didn't work for you, either, I think the chances are high that this is some other issue. You might try doing a memory test. In Vista you just do a search on Memtest, run the program, reboot, and let it sit for an hour or two.
Oh my - I see other folks posting problems, too. This topic is going to turn into a big mess real fast if we try to help everyone in one topic. It's best if you all make your own topics. (Preferably after reading the "common solutions" topic. Hint hint. Nudge nudge. ) -
Actually, the hotfix is for both 32 and 64-bit users. 64-bit users seem to benefit from it more often, though.
-
I should point out real quick that Vista Service Pack 2 contains this hotfix. SP2 is currently in open beta test so you can install it if you are feeling brave but I really wouldn't recommend it. Hopefully SP2 will go live in coming weeks.
(Of course, Microsoft Campus has to dig itself out of the snow first. ) -
Yep. The hotfixes help a lot of folks but there are still plenty of video cards that aren't seated quite right on the motherboard or just plain old lemons out there. No amount of software hotfixing will ever fix those problems.
-
Yes, you can. You can completely control where the camera is and which way it points. Of course, that means changing every single CAM POS and PYR in your demo, not to mention calculating the correct way to point it several times a second. Insanely tedious.
That's why I programmed it in to my Demo Edit program.
It's not exactly trivial to use in my program, either, but it can be done. -

In most cases, the PhysX enabled driver I've listed will drastically reduce crashing, but will not eliminate it.

That's pretty odd.
I should note that the hotfixes listed above are included in Vista SP2, which is currently beta testing. I'm hoping it will be out by the end of January so at least that problem will get stomped on.
I don't agree with the older-games-need-older-drivers statement. This game is still being developed. Tech support routinely asks people to get the latest or near-latest drivers. -
Hehe, I was just thinking about that this morning. Balshor's in a better domain with Java. There is some sort of .Net for Macintosh thing out there but I don't know how well it will work with all that registry stuff I do in my launcher.
The basic program is really very, very simple. Just pass in certain parameters with the program. My code is on my website so you can get a list of them easy. -

Windowscapes: moon, undersea, stars, maybe even lava.

This. Windows with a view. Let us pick the surrounding area then let us put windows in. So I pick, say, "Forest" and the windows show a forest scene. N/S/E/W windows show different views. Sun rises and sets. Possible areas:
[*]Deep space (stars hurtling by, Star Trek style)[*]Earth Orbit[*]On the moon[*]On some ringed planet[*]Galactic orbit[*]Forest (normal forest or with the base up in a huge tree)[*]Antarctica (with or without wandering penguins )[*]Beach[*]Mountain top[*]Under water[*]Shadow Shard[*]Inside a volcanoe[*]Moving out on the ocean[*]Out in the ocean near Paragon City or one of the Rogue Islands[*]Castle. The base would be the castle itself so there would be castle walls out the windows.[*]Nether world - just a lot of strange, rolling colors with a touch of lightning and fire.[*]Inside the sun - did I mention windows should also act as a light source?[*]Up in a tornado. Every few minutes, a couple of old guys in a rowboat will fly by and wave.[*]Underground tomb, along the lines of what is in Dark Astoria down at the Seeker of the Unknown badge.[*]Near a black hole. Preferably one that's eating a star or some such so you can tell that it's there.[*]NCNC studios. Only people with the Bug Hunter badge can use this. -
Yeah, that or they are all using a firewall that has some setting that blocks FTP access. <shrug>
I guess I would do a /petition and ask Support for help. There's a tool for diagnosing network issues but it's also on the FTP site. -
Hmmm, some sort of connection weirdness. Try bringing up IE and going to ftp://ftp.coh.com then look in the comics directory.
-
I just downloaded one fine. What error are you getting? Are you getting these over the web or going straight from the FTP server? Can you view other pdf files?
I think the most likely problem is that you need to update Adobe Acrobat. -

WARNING: I picked some music that's got a LOT of bad language in it... but it's funny so go with it.

Good vid but four takes? Ha! One take, one badge! No demos needed. Though I wish I had used one. It's hard to steer while recording. -
I can't believe the article didn't list dual builds explicitly! Oh well.
My favorite? VEATs. With base changes a close second. -
OMG! It's defaltion! Doooooooooom!!!

"HeroStats does not work in the Mac envrionment, as it uses Windows .Net programming."
Hmm, I wonder if it might be possible to get HeroStats working with Mono? Mono is an open-source re-implementation of the .Net runtime for Unix-like platforms (including OS X). The main development is being managed by Novell. I think the .Net API's might be somewhat limited right now for Mono, though, so not reallly sure if you could get HeroStats working, but might be worth a check?

Interesting, that might work for my Demo Launcher program, too. I wouldn't bet on CoH Helper working very well, though. -
Even more vids uploaded to WeGame for higher quality than is found on YouTube....
Desolate Joker's BringMe to Life (love those spinning color trails near the start!)
Relentless' Paragon's Greatest Hero (the only high quality one I've got from you, Relentless - I have to make due with YouTube for my Smooth Criminal fixes!)
A video that's not on our list at all: Dreams- I'm still not certain who made it. Maybe it's on one of those URLs that flash by?
I'm trying to upload the Tink video from Paragon Pictures but WeGame keeps choking on it. I'm trying to help WeGame figure out why so the video is currently sitting on my own website at http://home.roadrunner.com/~dasloth/Tink.wmv but it will only be there for another month or so.
Edit: Interesting, the video dies when I try to view it on my website, too. Works fine off my hard drive, though. -
Errrr, this is long dead topic. You need to start your own thread, Tegweniel.
-
Weird. I remember plenty of mission maps having a problem but never just one part of a map - nevermind an outdoor one.
-
Nasty. I've gotten 3 emails already and my old website isn't even closed yet! (Soon, though. Very soon.)
-
I've been doing some uploading to WeGame and it's included some better quality versions of some of the old classics you can currently only get on YouTube. Here's a quick list of what I've done so far:
Hype Zero, Hype Won, and Hype Too (nice Christmas ending!)
Green Funk's Origins and I Need a Hero video.
The Operatives Sabotage! and Crash Landing videos.
Riverdane's Louie
A video I'm calling Victory HQ (it doesn't have a name as near as I can tell) by Poison Mistress and the Shiny supergroup.
Pirate King's CoH version of Bonnie Tyler's "I Need a Hero" and the first ever CoH video I ever saw - Rikti Invasion.
I did some of the Abyss family's videos, too, but you can get better versions off their website still.
Edit: Also just added The Pull in case any of you need reminding on the silliness of the olden days. -
Yeah, slow forums have cut down my participation quite a bit, too. It just gets too frustrating.
If I remember right, the next phase is to copy everything to the test boards and see how they handle it. How long it will take will depend a lot on how long that process takes. -
If you slow down the framerate, more characters will draw. Back in the early days, I recorded a Hamidon raid where I couldn't see Hamidon or most of the characters around me, even with my graphics turned way down. When I watched the demo, though, I slowed it down to just a few frames per second and I was able to see a LOT more.
There might be a hard cap at 100, though.
