*Sets down some nice, tasty, 'birthday cake' ice cream for all the cake-recipients.*
When you can't have cake, you can at least have this. Just be careful, it's got cake batter bits. Tasty and post-dental-work_OK.
Felicitous annual hatching day, folks. :3 -

Super Strength and Martial Arts will each receive an alternate animation for their powers, and Stone Armor and Necromancy will include limited customization.

Word is that Positron was going to have the Restraining Order sent to you prior to this announcement. Then someone in accounting tallied all you'd spent on this game- and all you'd probably spend due to this Issue... and decided he'd just have to "take one for the team."
[/ QUOTE ]he would join jay and babs in having restraining orders against me.

Are you implying you've done this before!? D: -

Sorry, it is not inevitable, nor is it my destiny. It is a very strong possibility at this point, admittedly, but it is not certain.
Not the least of which is that all my spare time these days is going toward stuff that actually earns me money (finances are problematic for us right now). Regrettably, making COH trailers does not fit in that category.

That's too bad... You are a true artist.
I guess I won't send you that idea I had for an awesome battle scene where villains and heroes team up against a new powerful mutant villain all set to the song Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden...
Ah well...

A lot of folks have asked me to make videos for them coz they have spiffy ideas - only problem is, they usually want me to make them for free.
*rueful laugh* Maybe I should have the forum take up a general collection - "Pay D_R to Make a Trailer for I-16! Donate a dollar and get your name in the end credits... donate five dollars and your toon gets a cameo... etc etc etc"
Yeah, right.

I think you'd be a bit surprised at how many people'd volunteer. Especially if it's something you'd enjoy doing (which I think is likely).
Still, I hope things improve for you. If just so you get the time to actually do FUN projects, for the express purpose that they're fun, and not because you're getting paid to do it. Or at least that most of your pay projects end up being fun, as well.
...probably not going to stop us teasing you any, but it's meant with the best of intentions. At least on my end. Promise! -

Oh come ON! When are they going to give Stalkers Fire Aura?! Cuz nothing says invisibility to me like bright orange flames!
I upped the difficulty to the max and the Atlas Statue just animated and threw the ball at me.
I think theres a glitch in the difficulty settings; I was able to manually enter 0 into all the fields and now when I just walk into the door everything in the map dies and I get the Mission Accomplished message. I wonder if this is what being Blue Steel feels like?
We need to be able to set our personal view of other peoples powers to Standard! I just played with a guy who was running a force fields/radiation blaster with a shield of every day-glo shade imaginable and rad blasts to match. You need to either let us shut off that stuff or start supplementing my migraine medication costs.
I dont think my computer likes the combination of colors I just chose for my powers my graphics card just burst into flames.
So I have to look at other peoples choices for their power colors, huh? Most compelling argument for buying a black and white monitor that Ive ever heard.
Why cant I choose Invisible as a color? I want my enemies to be confused as to why theyre taking damage.
Hey, whats with this disclaimer on the City of Villains creation screen? You can now choose ANY color for your villains powers as long as its black or a shade of red.
Yeah thats hilarious youre the 6th Thermal Defender today to cover me in pink fire and make Flamer jokes.
So what am I supposed to call my Dark Miasma now that its flamingo pink?

Don't get me wrong, I do too. I was just making a point about perception and opinion, specifically in relation to graphics.

Not everyone sees everything the same, or forms the same opinion of it when viewing.
Some call this art. I call it bland, and relatively uninspired.
C'est la vie.
EDIT: Should probably clarify the piece linked was done by Piet Mondrian, a recognized abstract artist.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I like his earlier stuff, I'm not well versed enough in Art Culture to really get the point of things that he was doing later, like the one you linked. As long as we are going truly abstract, I think I like some of Pollock's stuff better than Mondrian's late stuff.
EDIT: Earlier work, Grey Tree
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, being a Fine Arts major, I could go into a long winded dissertation on what the artistic merits of Mondrian's work are, as well as those of De Stijl. Suffice it to say that it's surprisingly deep for a piece that's just lines and rectangles of colour.
Also, I'm not sure the original link is actually a Mondrian piece, but rather a sampler for a craft project. Mondrian's lines tend to be straighter and cleaner than that, given that the precision of them is part of the point. Like this
Then again, I always have liked the simplicity to Mondrian's compositions, even if I never really considered it artistic before.
[/ QUOTE ]
Might well be inspired by - I grabbed something in a short time period.
Still, you're not exactly disproving my point any. Infact, you're offering supporting evidence. I personally find it too simplistic to be considered really art, whether or not the man that did it (or inspired it in this case) had actually produced what could be considered actual artistic work beforehand or not. It's lines and color. That's all it is - not even particularly interesting lines, or truly inventive use of color or blending.
It's not what I consider art. I find it flat, bland, and completely uninspired. The motivation behind it is, to me, entirely secondary to the point of it being too simplistic. I have similar issues with a lot of abstract art as well, because it's not exactly like a lot of great effort went into the creation of the piece.
Most certainly not in comparison to other postmodern styles that were around at the time.
However, and here's the meat of the subject: All of this is my subjective opinion, and one I've formed over a very long period of art study, and just viewing the world in general.
We're all entitled to an opinion, after all, and though we may disagree with what other people have to say, they do have a right to say it.
...not in as completely crude a fashion as it was originally done (IE: The comment that prompted this point), but not everyone can be gifted with civility and tact.
Least of all me. -

Any game I play for long periods of time just gets 'comfortable', and I start memorizing specific details about locations and finding new stuff that I didn't notice the first time around. Or the tenth.
Cruising through Galaxy City and Sharkhead Isle is just... relaxing for me, for some reason. Familiarity with the layouts and the sights, with the content...
As close to a 'homey' sense of feeling as anything, I suppose. -

Oh...and at the one store when I was buying it, the cashier remarked "hey, you know Champions Online is coming out soon, right?" As if I was loco for wanting to buy CoH.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just to go on the cashier's side for a second, the employees of those stores for the most part rely on preorders and the like for their hours. Chances are, he was just suggesting a game that you could potentially give him a reserve for that is in the same genre as COH.
[/ QUOTE ]
This. And they're rode on hard to make as many preorders as they can, in some districts. Or he could have just been trying to start a conversation about gaming, to maybe gauge what you're interested in to further sell you something else.
IE: He was doing his minimum wage job. -
Huntsman builds (Wolf/Bane spiders that focus on the Wolf Spider attacks while occasionally mixing in things from the Bane line [Build Up, Surveillance, Bane Armor Upgrade, etc.]) aren't that bad, actually.
Mine is incredibly fun at 27, and the only reason she's not higher up is because I've been rather slammed IRL for play time. I'm still not sure exactly which of my builds is superior - the pure-Mace Bane, or my Huntswoman build. Both are ridiculously effective for different reasons. -

Parry is built to triple stack. In fact, it's got a built in cap of three stacks - if you magically get it down to a 1s recharge, it still only triple stacks.
[/ QUOTE ]Umm... source? I know of no data to suggest that there's any hard cap on the number of times Parry can be stacked. (Admittedly I've never tried, as my highest Broad Sword character is just lv15)
Also, at the recharge cap Parry has a cycle time of 1.93s, and the defense buff lasts 10s, so there's no "magic" required in getting it to 1s recharge or in triple stacking it. In fact, you only need to get it down to ~2s recharge in order to triple stack, which requires 50% recharge slotting
[/ QUOTE ]
Gonna have to ask for a source, too.
I'm almost certain I can get small periods of 4-stacking Divine Avalanche, and it's got way longer of a total cycle time. -
