Well, I enjoyed playing a wolf spider huntsman up until 24, so why not?

Tell ya what, you have to go pure wolf spider till 24 anyway. Do that, and see if it's for you. If not, go with a wolf spider/bane build.

Huntsman builds (Wolf/Bane spiders that focus on the Wolf Spider attacks while occasionally mixing in things from the Bane line [Build Up, Surveillance, Bane Armor Upgrade, etc.]) aren't that bad, actually.
Mine is incredibly fun at 27, and the only reason she's not higher up is because I've been rather slammed IRL for play time. I'm still not sure exactly which of my builds is superior - the pure-Mace Bane, or my Huntswoman build. Both are ridiculously effective for different reasons.
A huntsman I imagine could also be done as pure wolf spider, taking the mace mastery epic pool.

my huntsman is my favorite toon to play. Hes such a mob killer and a team buffer. Look at the guide for one, then watch the video that the guide-maker has on you tube. One is of her soloing a Meyhem mission with the huntsman. Its really awesome
I never picked up a Mace power on my Huntsman and I enjoyed my build all the way to 50. Double Assault and double Maneuvers helped to soft cap Ranged and AoE defenses. Add in an AoE immob power and you can be very survivable. Never met a team I didn't like or that didn't like me.
Could you make a build that can do more? Sure but you can also make a build that does less. if nothing else try planning out a build in Mids and see how things would go.

I'm only ladylike when compared to my sister.
Is there a respectable PVE build for a Spider that allows you to keep the gun and doesn't make you have the stupid legs on your back, that will actually be fun to play and not suck? (I don't really wanna go Mace either, but won't complain if I had to switch back and forth. I wanna stay mostly in Wolf Spider powers, but with some Bane abilities that don't just totally screw me over.)
