As far as I can tell WoC is useless in pvp
It looks like you are relying on hasten for your recharge boost. That is a serious weakness if anyone cottons on.
You also have no plus perception power which will make you stalker bait. -
[ QUOTE ]
I ask again- is it my imagination that blasters faceplant more than any other AT?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, but the faceplant problem is considered solved by eliminating death as a serious hindrance.
If you are used to games where characters only get a few resurrections or none at all this game is a bit of a culture shock. -
[ QUOTE ]
So it's said that range is mitigation- ok, what about wolves and nemesis?
And the best defense is a good offense- ok, that's how I drive, but if my fire/fire has trouble with two mobs close together on a solo unyielding map, what does that say about the rest of them?
And no other AT can put out damage like a blaster- ok, I have some scrappers that can compete with some blasters
[/ QUOTE ]
All true. I'd go further on the range and toss in all the spawns that outrange you and do insane levels of damage
[ QUOTE ]
Defiance- old version was exploitable, new version... if it was taken away I wouldn't even notice
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't know about you but I would
[ QUOTE ]
Damage scale- maybe should be raised, I think for the lack of any mitigation there should be more damage than any other character can produce
[/ QUOTE ]
From a thematic stand point yes but I doubt it will happen, blaster damage looks like its balanced against spawn hp
There are a few things that could help. An inherent amount of ranged defense, increasing the range of blaster powers, a bit more mez resistance in defiance or additional hitpotints
Any of these would go along way in helping
There are as always sets, and individual powers that need work. Psionics flat out needs to be fixed, snipes need either a damage buff or interrupt elimination. The primary melee secondaries could all use a hp recovery tool the way mm has one. Devices cloaking device, time bomb, gun drone. Ar full auto needs its cone widened and target cap increased just to name a few
p.s. The "I managed this so they are fine posts" generalizing from a specific instance is at best bad form. You can do remarkable things with any AT if you want to spend on IOS -

Paragon wiki gave a stat of purples dropping 1/5000 from mobs that can drop them. So if you are out to kill things to get them how rapidly can you kill around 1100 enemies to give you approximately 90% chance of getting 1 *
* All calculations were approximate and performed mentally if they are off they are off it has no impact on the process of reaching the decision
[/ QUOTE ]
The chance of getting at least one purple in 1100 enemies is:
1-(1-1/5000)^1100 = 18.13%
(I agree that it has no impact on the point you were making.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks I should edit and correct I was pretty sure I said 11000 which this time pulling out the calculator gives 88.9% chance. -

I have no idea what "exploit" means in this instance
[/ QUOTE ]
Apparently no one else does either, if the devs have a clear idea they aren't saying. I'd like to say if you do x,y, and z you will be fine, but I can't because the people who could say so with authority won't.
[/ QUOTE ]A new player needn't worry about it. It's unlikely they'll get involved in an exploit in the first place, and even more unlikely that they'd be punished for it.
[/ QUOTE ]
How do you know that ? There were many new players in comm officer farms -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I doubt we'll ever get to see who's wrong or right by seeing purple drop rates change.
[/ QUOTE ]
Like when Merits were created and players spent less money on Task Force and Trial Recipes? What happened to the price of other items (Purples and Salvage)?
Like when Mission Architect was created and players produced more defeat recipes like Knockback IOs? What happened to other prices like Purples?
[/ QUOTE ]
People playing MA arcs aren't generating purples
Merits and the reward rate changes dropped the production of those recipes and the people buying particular recipes dropped it further -

Shakespeare was wildly popular in his day.
F. Scott Fitzgerald in his time.
If a story focused arc can't outdraw a map of 6 city blocks with demons on the corners and the middles its probably not that good. Matter of fact if it can't get 1K ratings out of 100K subscribers the author most certainly hasn't made the effort to promote it, that they should have.
The solution isn't to hurt the parts of MA people do like, its to find ways to allow story tellers to do more interesting things with MA -

DP: usually a little accuracy, health and recharge
The procs are most effective in low damage attacks all yours are in very high damage attacks.
and on the UT side blessing is expensive but so is that steadfast you have slotted.
I have a build for an AR/EM ill post it when I find it so you can use it for Ideas. Mine is a bit pricey though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Procs as I understand it are most effective the more opportunities they have to go off... its not 'low damage attacks' that set them up nicely, its the fast recharge of low-damage attacks that give them the most chances to go off.
AoE attacks hit multiple foes, giving the attack that many more chances to go off (or, if they go off based on the attack rather than the hit, that many more foes to be affected by the proc when it pops).
You've suggested that I slot Subdual more... and now to find slots to add in the Blessings... can you suggest where I should remove those slots from?
[/ QUOTE ]
Found this when I was looking for my AR/EM. I was playing around with the idea of ranged defense for my AR/MM. I went with damage and recharge instead.
The build below gives you 42% ranged defense, 81% acc, and 52 % global recharge, drain psyche is slotted with an accurate heal set so its still usable when you exemp down
If you take a few seconds to move the slots around, you can see that the procs in psi scream and full auto add 10% or less damage
Subdual is one power that would benefit from procs greatly here the others you could just take assault instead of one the defense powers and get the same benefit

Couple of questions
Why endurance mod sets in Drain Psyche ?
Do you really enjoy the Chance ofs ? They add very little to the damage and occupy a slot. This is especially so for otherwise high damage attacks.
You also seem to have powers where you havent bothered to slot sets even though they could take them, is there any reason for this ?
Subdual has always been for me a key power for keeping enemies at range. You have it very sparingly slotted.
You don't have any of the universal travel sets slotted. For 1 additional slot blessing will buy the same level of ranged defense that an entire thunderstrike set will. -

Fiction is not technical writing and dialogue can break all kinds of rules. Like I said, it isn't a three page run on sentence. It's a conversation with a guy who is fairly impatient and in a hurry.
Saying, "Too many commas," without some indication of where said extraneous commas dwell is completely useless.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just a curiousity did it ever occur to you that things like this thread, might just be why people don't like to give detailed comments.
Edit: I know after reading this I am certainly less likely to leave feedback.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, good grief.
One guy leaving crazy, funny comments is not the same as someone leaving constructive criticism. I've gotten tons of feedback that wasn't just "HAY THIS iS AWESOME" and I've taken it all to heart. I've had discussions with people about things to change and have heavily altered the arc in question since it was first published based on said feedback and discussions.
This guy was loony, though (as were his comments).
You're a troll anyway, though. I've rarely seen you post in a thread where you weren't trying to rile people up, so I'm done with you here.
[/ QUOTE ]
The man gave you his feedback and you spent how much time picking it apart ? Now I am a troll because I point out such behavior is unlikely to make anyone ever want to give you feedback ? -

Which would be the most efficient way to obtain them?
Running MA missions farming for tickets and selling the resultant enhancements from Bronze Rolls?
Running regular missions all the time to increase my chances of them dropping?

Compare the two answers and you have your result. I suspect earning INF and buy them is the answer. The market seems to indicate this is the answer most come up with

I very much remember those statements in the past.

Me too.
[/ QUOTE ]
What I believe has been said multiple times is this: Flipping does not raise the equilibrium price of items.
It is possible to raise the price of an item long term. However, over the long term, either the price you started with wasn't the equilibrium price (which I believe is the case in the OP's situation) or you will lose money propping up the price. The definition of "long term" is open to debate, and I think it's fair to say the creation of alternate sources of supply on many items (particularly salvage) has complicated the dynamics to the point where what was considered "long term" prior to i14 may well no longer be.
[/ QUOTE ]
The original claim in the discussions I am referring to was flipping doesn't raise prices and increases availability. It went through many mutations.
As to the claim that this probably wasn't at the equilibrium price ? You can find items all the time that are being overproduced. They sell for little and if you want to take the trouble you can vendor them. On these you can set the floor and effectively raise the equilibrium price.
You are certainly correct that I14 has changed the dynamics considerably as there are now price points where it would be very hard to raise the price of rare or uncommon salvage beyond. -

How do you get ranged defense for blasters? What are the enhancements/inventions being used?
Is getting Tough worth it for blasters?
How do I make myself less squishy, without delving into the numbers too much.

1. Invention sets and a few uniques.
2 Thunderstrike, blessing of the zypher, makos bite, steadfast +res/+def, eradication are some examples
www.Paragonwiki.com has a list of all them
3. Tough: it depends on the rest of your build. It can be.
4. Accolades, Epic powers, the fighting, leaping pool, flying pool, medicine pool all have things that can help -

You guys should give each other a break. Your going nowhere.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do these things ever go anywhere in the short term ?
Me I take a little joy in being correct over . 6 months ago if you had of said flipping raises prices you would have been shouted down that you can't do that. Then it became you can't do that and make money, Now its you can't do it and make much money.
When merits came out this board was pushing people to take the random, I was like well if you like to take chances to come out a little worse than even if lucky sure. I also called for tradeable merits and got shouted down. If I had of relinked to my old posts people would have accused Smurphy and Nethergoat of being my sockpuppets, when they tried to push to get them made tradeable.
Maybe someday, the idea that people can dislike using the market, without being rabid animals that need to be put down will gain traction.
When or if that happens I will be here laughing and they will be still be calling me names.
P.S. Maybe I should post discredited market myths to that other thread. I could also toss in the idea that inside information from closed beta has no effect on the market -

I didn't say I was on your ignore list. I said you said that I was. IIRC the statement was " I have had him on ignore for months now and I can't tell you what a joy it has been" or words to that effect.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cite that, or rescind it. I never stated such a thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Difficult to cite as there has just been a purge and I am not in the habit of archiving the forums locally or page scraping.
Seeing as at this point just our two dueling recollections here I would gladly concede that you never intended to say such a thing. In that context though I have to ask might you have meant to say "I have been ignoring him" and had it come out otherwise ? -
[ QUOTE ]
I have never said you are on my ignore list, I did say however that I tend to ignore your comments. (My most recent statement of such came along with naming another poster in the same boat which is why I got modded)
Those two are not equivalent statements.
The reason I know this is because my forum ignore list is as follows and has been unchanged in over a year.
[ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
So again you are making an error of fact: either confusing me with someone who has made such a statement, or taking the statement I did in fact make to mean something else; which is why people tend to dismiss your comments.
You have shown on mutliple occasions to be demonstrably innacurate in the area of making statements of fact.
So advice to remedy this, is of course checking before making a factual statement and sourcing statements when necessary.
Before making a post in a defender thread today, I double checked the name and timing of the Hellenic scholar who measured the circumference of the globe. The name I had right, the date in my memory was off by a century. 30 seconds in a different tab checking that date, made my post all the better.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't say I was on your ignore list. I said you said that I was. IIRC the statement was " I have had him on ignore for months now and I can't tell you what a joy it has been" or words to that effect.
Now at the time I didn't make much of it, I am not out to pick fights believe it or not. It really doesn't rise to significance in either terms of the discussions on these boards or anything else, unless you set an exceptionally high standard of rigor over trivia.
In your example of the defender boards I might or might not have done the same thing. I recently posted in archetypes and powers about the maximum dps of a fire/* blaster just using fire. I did bother to check even though I knew the numbers well ?
Why did I bother to check ? Because the numbers were important there and the discussion was about exact figures. If the question had of been what AT/powerset does alot of damage I wouldn't have bothered. Matter of fact I probably would have said something of the form
"Aim + BU give you about 160% damage boost, blaze is about 200 and if you have your recharge up high enough you can do things like fireblast, flares, blaze 2->3 times in aim bu" -

[ QUOTE ]
Yes my exact words were successful. I didn't say greatest, I didn't say most persuasive and I didn't say most intelligent. I did say successful. Because there are objective measures.

What can usefully be used to define "sucess" across recorded history ?

Seriously or after a couple go rounds is it going to be a gee I meant to be a horses rear thread ?
Anyway, material wealth is certainly the most quantifiable. Total numbers of people listening is another. Significance within the culture is another. Objectively he has managed to do all three, solely on the basis of his speaking ability.
Now let me ask a question of you. You made the claim earlier that my misstatement of his ratings rendered all my posts untrustworthy. Your standard here being rather high, ridiculously high I would say. I have to ask you this how would you apply to someone who obviously falsified a statement of fact to the extent that it rendered their entire position false.
I ask because for someone who has bragged of having me on their ignore list, you are quite chatty at the moment. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
100% of posts in this thread criticizing someone for being wrong about the size of Rush Limbaugh's audience are stupid.
The difference between the real numbers and the "off the top of my head" numbers he used was meaningless, as both sets of figures support his claim that Rush is successful.
You can dwell on the numbers, but you just look petty and dumb as you do so, imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, let's say I do an experiment, say street sweeping DA, to prove some point...like, you can make a lot of inf doing it.
So I do it, and I make some inf.
But when I post the thread here, I inflate my numbers by, like, 5000%.
While my main point is still valid (I hit DA, I made some inf) the way I present my point (by lying and inflating my results) calls my credibility and judgement into question and undermines my argument.
I don't pay attention to people who don't know what they're talking about, who don't care about accuracy, who lie in the service of their position. Which is why I've got AF on ignore.
YMMV.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL by that logic you should have put yourself on ignore long ago. Then again you probably have.
P.S. For having me on your ignore list, you sure do seem obsess over me.
Normally I would call that kind of behavior spiteful and petty, seeing as in this case its in a video game context, and its because you were shown to be wrong, I'll settle for pathetic.
