Paragon wiki gave a stat of purples dropping 1/5000 from mobs that can drop them. So if you are out to kill things to get them how rapidly can you kill around 11000 enemies to give you approximately 90% chance of getting 1 *
Compare the two answers and you have your result. I suspect earning INF and buy them is the answer. The market seems to indicate this is the answer most come up with

How to you typically play, long sessions, short burst ?
The best way of getting the drops is defeating lots of mobs of level 48 and higher. If you schedule is erratic then maybe marketeering so you are progressing whilst offline would be better.
There is no single 'best way' due to the wide variety of hours and schedules people play.

I usually do it with a spines/da or fire/regeneration scrapper and it is in short bursts. I usually marketeer offline but I was just curious how other marketeers do it.

The chance of getting at least one purple in 1100 enemies is:
1-(1-1/5000)^1100 = 18.13%
(I agree that it has no impact on the point you were making.)

Thanks I should edit and correct I was pretty sure I said 11000 which this time pulling out the calculator gives 88.9% chance.
