  1. I'd rather they checked to see just how many accounts that kept global names were actually inactive, because I'm pretty damn sure the one that 'won' over mine was.
Then I might be able to get my proper handle back, and lose the gunge colour -_-
  2. 2 Notices PLUS lots of shards (30-something?) is a pretty rum deal.
It'd be nice if we didn't have to pay to turn useless shards into useful threads though -_-

And, sorry, too slow. I was already using all my powers as much as possible. Get this; It's a little difficult to use traps in either ITrial and
    1) Not have the mob already dead by the time you're finished
    2) Not get god-shafted by the rediculous high damage ST and AoE spam attacks that all Praets seem to deal out in spades.

Situations where I can't use the powers?
    -Mobs already dead
-Trying to run from a mob thats intent on turning me into tinfoil
-Already DEAD because a mob had homing DoT rockets fired through a wall

I already play by the rules. I jump through all the little hoops. And it matters not one jot.

Is it perfect right now? No. Should you be consistently getting Rares and Very Rare tables?

    NO

Should I be getting a thread reward table despite working as hard as I can, as I do every Trial, simply because a no-brained computer with its arbitrary metric decided I was on par with leechers and non participants and likely because I happen to be a mastermind?

    SMEG THE HELL NO!

I participate every damn time! I do everything in my damn power to do what the damn thing wants me too while avoiding DYING, and then that rarely works because the bloody Praetorians cheat! And I STILL haven't gotten above an uncommon and even got the bloody threads table!

What the Hell do you CALL that, if not participation? Hmm?

(And yes, I'm a tad hacked the hell off right now, due to being DC'd by my shoddy net provider for a split second while Marauder was at 17 HP left, and the god damned load faffed around for so long that I logged back in to find I'd done all that for NOTHING! Prime metric to see if your system isn't working, is when its making things not fun! )
  5. Hoo, good heads up, gonna refuse updates for now.
  6. Agreed, did think of that when looking at the suggestion actually. A 1:1 conversion once every seven days (with NO added arbitrary costs, thank YOU!) would work just fine.
  7. Another thing thats utterly rediculous;

If we're meant to 'participate' more to keep out of the 10 threads range...then why on EARTH does the damn Hospital door lock people up, meaning they have to sit there doing nothing? It sure as hell doesn't do what it claims to do, making sure there is a group to run out into the 'hostile' zone. Because hey, get this! People know they have to 'participate' to get anything, so they leg it as fast as they can back to the action, team mates and their problems be damned!
    Pointless arbitrarism is pointless...
  8. Listening again a few times, I think the thing that seems a little off is actually that synth beat. It sounds...I dunno wether its the pitch or tone, but it sounds a little too 8-bit, a little too cheerful. Which kind of breaks the tone for the rest of the music which is wonderfully imposing and alien.

Even the MMO that doesn't need to be named that I am looking forward to doesn't have the community like here and to be honest I'm tempted to stick around just because CoH feels like a well worn pair of jeans. Even if the other game has newer jeans, it doesn't mean they will be as comfortable.
    Good analogy, actually.
I have an old pair of jeans that I wear a lot. Sure, they're old and worn, and it bugs me that the pockets are too small to do anything useful, even to fit my hands into.
But they're comfy as hell. So I keep wearing them. I like 'em
  10. I think it would be more mixing, really. I don't have a keyboard, and I don't really know how to play one properly even if I had one, heh.

I have properly played music before, however, so I have a sort of idea of what to do (I hope)
So, yeah, more mixing and synth...I think? This is the thing, I don't have a clue how folks do the stuff they do around here.

I'd call that an abuse of the system.

It's sort of like during Infinite Crisis, Superman taking on Anti-Matter while Wonder Woman and Batman sat and waited for their l00t because they didn't feel they were able to participate well enough.

I get it - some people feel they are getting cut out of rewards. I have a Dominator and as we know, my holds/immobs are perceived as [/i]useless[/i] - but I've got 2 rare tables last week because I've moved beyond the idea that I need to hold/immob everything and focused on what else I could be doing.

The Participating System is gratifying everyone, I hear it, I get it. But it needs to be there because these Trials are about participation. To remove it would allow people to kick back, relax, and soaking up l00t (in a worst case scenario.)

    So, again /unsigned
If that were an 'issue', then why has this system not been added to the stuff where the above is actually both valid and doable, such as TFs and SFs? If there is a group of friends who can actually pull that off...well, that still within the system. In fact, thats specifically playing within the rules of the system as intended.

Example; two friends of mine recently went and Duo'd an ITF. Because they could. They had builds to the point where they could do it. It would then be their decision wether they took people along or not to 'grind' it as you say.

Right now, that situation is NOT applicable to the ITrials, simply because
    1) You need more than one team
    2) The very design of the trials means you NEED people taking part to have a hope in hell

Again, the system as is is NOT doing what its intended to do. Why would door sitters be discouraged when (if they don't get kicked) they still get threads anyway?
All it's doing is penalising those who take part and don't meet whatever arbitrary, 'blind' computer tick-boxes are needed to decide wether you 'deserve' a component or not.

Also, this wouldn't even be that much of a problem...were there anything else you could do instead of the Trials to get your components. But no, there is nothing else. So, if we have to be stuck with two things and two things only, then the damn things should work as designed for participating players.

Hmn, since the players don't have any tools to deal with tha-

Wait, yes they do. Kick. We've had that tool for god knows how many years now, and it's not failed net. In fact, they actually get MORE reward this way if they DO manage to door sit and not be kicked. Because they would get nothing from being kicked, instead of 10 threads. While people who are actually taking part and trying their hardest are getting lumbered with an unfair, arbitrary system telling them they might as well door sit next time.
  15. While I had already got Audacity for voice recording and such, by coincidence, I should probably mention I need something that runs on Windows 7 Not Linux. Thanks though Saist
  16. As someone who hasn't got the first clue about making music on PCs and such...help? Even trying to google around a bit just leads to further confusion and questions.

Which software is good to start with? How long does it tend to take people to learn? Which is the cheapest? General hints and pointers?

Having thought about it more recently, I'd love to have a shot at doing something music related as well as the art stuff I already do. But I haven't the foggiest on how to go about it
  17. Whatever metric is used to decide this arbitrary junk is inherently flawed.

Apparently, trying your damndest and attacking as much as you can, siccing your pets on the AV and objectives, and having the sheer bad luck to die about four times against mobs that practically ignore accuracy and spam AoE means I'm clearly in the same category as a horrible leecher! Yes, penalise me for trying! GREAT idea!

Like MM's didn't get the shaft from Praetorians enough as it is, jsut kick us while we're down why bloody dont you?
  18. Regen does, however, get Dull Pain and the other click heal. Which do seem to work rather well. I've always found that, anyway.

However, yes. It doesn't stop the fact that Instant Healing, as a clicky, really is not as good as it should be. And MoG might as well just not exist in it's current form.
  19. Back in the days of yore, before all this shiny stuff and the arbitrary systems that came with it, times were simple. In the world of TFs and SFs, the players were a self policing crowd. Leeches and foot-draggers tended to get kicked by the Team leader, and everyone was happy.

Now? Now we have to fight not just the mobs and AVs, but the constant danger of doing something to anger the almighty god of ITrials.

Yes, I mean the participation metric. The arbitrary thing that decides, through nonsensical means, wether you are worthy of even getting a component, or wether you fail hard enough to get a threads table.

Apparently, trying my damndest to do things, attacking every second I can, siccing my pets on mobs and Marauder, and being close enough to the action to die about four times?
Apparently all that effort is NOT WORTHY! I'm obviously in the same category as leechers and brain-dead folk!

Sorry, but this is rediculous. I am sick and tired of getting shafted on my MM in Lambda. I HATE the tunnels! I am going to die, time and time again, because no one waits, everyone rushes, and MM pets are too stupid NOT to die. And, guess what, there goes all my HP! And hey, I might as well NOT have defences at all for all the good it does againt Praetorian mobs!

I shouldn't have to rush just to get a damn component. Please, get rid of this damn nanny system that is inherently flawed simply because computer are stupid and don't factor in how a player is doing in relation to what is happening. Leechers WILL get kicked, as they always have done. So, stop penalising people who are actually trying their damndest, and who can't get anything above an uncommon because, apparently, they picked the wrong AT
  20. God, yes, this! ^
Been bugged for so long now, and looks so stupid...

Also, can we get Kheld auras as a standard aura? Eyes and such without needing to turn powers on? Sunstorm and all can do it, why not us?
  21. Suggested by @SP on Union.
Simply put, allow a 1:1 conversion from a Notice of the Well to an Empyrean Merit. No strings attached, no stupid and prohibitive inf costs that make no sense.

Just let the WST reward be converted into something useful past Alpha slot.
    Simple.
  22. Holy hell, that's epic for a first draft!

    Right, feedback, feedback...
I'd say either run a bit more with the synth, and use it for more than just the one line, even if it's very subtley to add an edge to other stuff, or trade it out for more percussion. The percussion was a little understated throughout.

Still, fantastic work man. Really wish I knew how to do this kinda thing (software? Despite it likely being outta my price range, heh), I was trying to find a bit of music that would work for Nemesis and, while I know what it should sound like, I can't make it happen.

    /double thumbs up
  23. Both Empty Clips and Rain of Bullets need their damage upping, at the least. They take far too long to animate for the damage they do (trivial compared to other blaster AoEs)

I'm not asking for DP to compare to Fire (etc) in terms of damage. I'm asking for it to stand up on it's own and not be a total washout.

    Regeneration:

A WP character can out-regen a Regen with a certain number of enemies in proximity. Regens have to use a 600 second recharge click power to get ahead, that lasts for only 90 seconds. It also has very little mitigation other than heaiing.

Give Reconstruction the 40 second recharge of Fire's Healing Flames, than it's current 60 second one.

Give Resilience Res to All and +Max HP.

Bring IH's recharge time down to... 450 seconds? 400?

Give Quick Recovery a small +Recharge bonus (a la SR's Quickness and EA's Lightning Reflexes) to distinguish it from WP's Quick Recovery.

Maybe tweak Fast Healing a little, to give a chance for healing as well as the regen component.

What about giving it the SoA's 'Omega Manoeuvre' treatment, where it is placed to attract enemies to it as it counts down, before exploding.

  25. Let it keep burst.
    And give it Full Auto.

Problem solved. It can fire quickly at single targets and debuff defence....and then barrage a whole mob.
Or add in Heavy Burst. Something to make it a little more impressive.
