So, now have an in-game channel for the games we're not playing while playing CoH.
Still waiting for a Steam Group.

Here's the best way to deal with maintenance/server down periods. Expect the servers to be down for two hours every day. On the days it isn't, grats, you lucked out. On the days it is, go do something else for a couple hours.

I just made an elec/nin which is pretty fun. claws/nin is great as well. Wp and regen didn't do much for me. -
I dusted off Battlefield 2 (with all expansions) and about to fire up Team Fortress 2 to screw around with that a bit.
If you have either of those game for PC and you use ventrilo, send me a pm. I set up an in-game channel i can invite you to. No set times or days, and nothing too hardcore. Beers and a sniper rifle and i'm happy. -
it took them as long as it took them to realize that champions was going to have it.

I'm going to the beach today.
"OMG MOLDY ACTUALLY LEFT THE GAME?!"
Yea... Well, last time I went to the beach my arc slot got banned.
Just a tip, stop using the Dreck maps and start using Grandville Beach. It is much more fun.
"The Dreck Map has more XP though!"
So? The Dreck map gets really boring after a while. With the Grandville beach, you can keep entertained.
Also, I should add that the map says very few defendable objects/ bosses can be placed when actually very many can be placed. Just make defendable objects/bosses and keep adding more until is says there is an error. For example, if a map says you can only add 8 defendable objects, try adding 14. I'll bet it will work Once you do that, start up with the ambushes. Keep adding one by one until you get a map filled up. It is worth it. Believe me.
This is my lesson in creating a good Parietal Cell map in order to get those PvP IOs I'm hording.

I know most people only think of the UFC as another WWE. Obviously it isn't, but is anybody watching 100?
Also, who do you think will win in each fight?
I personally have Dan Henderson, GSP, and Frank Mir, winning.

I worked in a sports bar for 6 years, and we had MMA on 24/7, and after seeing all of the cookie cutter fighters, i have to say the ones that grab my attention have been the freaks like Lesnar, Bob Sapp, Don Frye etc. I liked the old school guys like Gracie and Shamrock from the early UFC's too. I think Lesnar has the potential to be their biggest star. not just star, but crossover mainstream star as well. I don't even know who else is fighting but i'm going to download it tonight and check it out. -
If you are going to use merits for random rolls, keep in mind that the two best rolls to get a Miracle is the 35-40 and 40-45 rolls.
The 35-40 roll has 68 recipes in the pool, and thee 40-45 roll has 66 recipes. Statistically speaking, these give you the best odds. You can also do gold rolls, or hope to get lucky off of boss drops.
If you want a lot of merits, i suggest joining your server's global channels and keeping an eye out for any tf's that are forming, ouroboros missions, and GM hunts. -

I once joined a pug "speed itf" which consisted of the team on invince, and the tank had his alt door sitting for whatever reason, leaving me and 6 others, 2 tanks, 2 scrappers and 2 blasters. 2 of whom were level 45 and staying out of every fight, sometimes just going randomly afk. One of the blasters, who shall remain nameless was chatting in pinnbadges instead of helping. So after we completed the first mission in about an hour, i was in the hospital and wouldn't you know it...i accidently clicked an ouroboros portal and was dropped from the team. The tank, completely oblivious to the epic suck of his team, which consisted of "bring whatever u want, because building a team is too difiicult for my little brain" actually offered to quit the tf and reform for me. I politely declined.

yea a new retail box in stores that you can't use the advertised feature to take advantage of double xp? that'll happen
-
one of my next side projects is i'm going to roll a toon, possibly a PB on Freedom, and do nothing but get in AE missions and "magically" have to go afk. I'm going to level all the way to 50 in this manner.

The biggest problem is that people applied 'mob' rules to the zones. In the zones, some people will play for rep while others will play for the player vs. player combat while others still will 'grief'.
Twixt's entire strategy was overcome by two simple inspirations:
Sturdy
BReak Free
If you eat a Sturdy you can't be TP Foed.
If you eat a Break Free you can escape Touch of Fear.
Now, he DID use Heavies and mobs as well...and did taunt using Broadcast (which you can shut off).
There is a player similar to Twixt on Pinnacle called XFunk. He plays a Brute and will literally hunt anyone and everyone in the zone...people genuinely despise him. Of course, he *will* fight you as well...so I can see the differences between Twixt and Funk.
All in all, this wasn't much of an experiment...people will always apply their own societal/personal/cultural rules in areas where they don't know social strictures. There aren't any social stricutures in PvP zones...this is what upsets people.
You can come to a general agreement though, I suppose on what's fair or not.
I won't be buying the book but you cannot deny Twixt made quite a name for himself in the zones.

some of the RMT spammers are selling purple sets into the $70-90 range.
I am against microtransactions in games that have a sub fee. I'll pay for an expansion or two a year, or their little $10 item packs, but beyond that, i do not support this idea. -
Yea it's still in the feeling out phase. Ifi recall it's similiar to the hero one, 5 missions, the first 4 being nothing to write home about.
Shivans and nukes imo aren't worth the effort. I haven't gotten a shivan since 2007. A team of 8 that is all on vent, with toons that know their role and are familiar with the TF will get the time down pretty quick.
Speed runs we usually bring a main brute, a kin or two, 2 colds, 2 toons that can rez and then whatever else. Ghosting and teleporting is a waste of time. Cold buffs allow everyone to just fly through the missions. I ran the hero one on test, was a little disappointed. the first 4 missions were not all that great, with the last mish being the only thing with substance. But hey some people are easily amused and enjoy that sort of content. Me personally, i make my own content. -
I run two VG's on Pinnacle. There are quite a few VG's, but we're one of the largest. Our VG's are rank 2 and 6 on the server. We have a 430+ member global channel as well as a ventrilo server. And we run more TF's than anyone else, probably in the game. We used to run 5-6 RSF's a day, 20-30 cap tf's during their prime. Now we do mostly ITF's, heck not too long ago i ran 10 of them back to back
-
I haven't ran it yet, waiting for it to get fixed first. Nothing worse than broken content. People said for years that Dr.Q takes 8-12 hours, my first one was under 4. People said the STF takes 2 hours, my first one with all sg members was 49 mins. Grats on completing it. But as far as speed runs go, i can't imagine this being too long of a TF.
-
Well if the other server beat the Tf in 25 minutes and it's been out for a week or two, i think with some practice we can beat that time by a few minutes. It's nice to have a large active group of skilled players to team with on a daily basis.
Heck i heard some groups were still using nukes and shivans on their 2 hour RSF's. I think that's just ridiculous. I mean since i9's invention system came out, any halfway intelligent player could in theory, make their toon two to three times more effective in their role.
One of the reasons i'm glad to be the leader of the Nites of Darkness is that we really gel as a group. The trust and respect we all share among ourselves is a wonderful thing in an MMO.
Running in game tasks over and over, becoming more and more efficient really says a lot about teamwork. Plus it's great fun to beat a previous time. It adds to the challenge. Nobody likes going through the motions. A lot of simple minded people log on, and go through their menial tasks in their slow methodical pace, and that's really sad, because this is an MMo with i think at last check stood for Massive Multiplayer.
I really enjoy people, and teaming, and as with all MMO groups, a constant influx of new people is always good. Heck it's one of the reasons we've been one of the largest groups on this server, almost 4 years now. And if that wasn't enough i decided to make a private chat channel for not only the sg, but also great players in the game we've teamed with and share our philosophies of teamwork and being the best team player you can be. Heck the last i checked, our alliance X channel had over 430 global names in it. Which is a very large number for one of the "smaller servers".
I'm always glad to help new players find a home with people that will help teach them new things about the game and to become a better player. forinstance maybe someone was in a small group and it was poorly run and they decided to leave. A lot of sg's out there are run by tyrants who expect people to do things for them, like have prestige quotas, rankings, rules, and other nonsense. I find a lot of those groups fail due to poor leadership. I'm always glad to help relocate those players into an atmosphere where they are treated with respect and equality, that my friend's is how you build and maintain and successful SG.
sure some groups like to take their time running in game tasks, and we do that as well. But heck with the great players we're surrounded by every day, why not try to break some records?
