Congratulations on five years! <salutes Big Daddy & teh PK's>

Here is a slideshow.
Our villain group's base is a luxury highrise hotel. Front lobby is a set of elevators. The main one is flanked on either side by large aquariums.
Check-in desk is one side of a massive hearth. There's: an ATM, internet cafe, breakfast bar, casual seating all around. We have a conference room, private vault, three story restaurant, casino, sports betting & viewing room, karaoke/comedy club above the casino, dance club, pool, fitness center..
Everything is tied into the hotel somehow. I didn't want an operating room so we opted for an art gallery right off the lobby. The idea being that stolen antiquities were later found to have mystical healing powers and kept rather than fenced.
Right now, it's decorated for the holidays. The hotel suites have a Chinese New Year (Feb 14, 2010) theme. Pagoda's and jade dragons scattered around the courtyard.
One of the rooms is decorated as the Winter Realm mission, just outside on the hotel grounds. Anyway.. lots of crazy stuff. In a way, it's almost its own villain zone. Largest plot size. Around seventeen thousand items - very near the twenty thousand item cap. -

*Update*
2010/January/14 -
- This afternoon, Riki invaders launched a strike against Paragon City and surrounding areas. Our gratitude goes out to everyone who was able to respond quickly. [New! Eyewitness accounts from Star Strider Codename: Redbone and Star Strider Codename: Photonstorm posted below.]
- Reports received indicate this is most likely not a random or final attack.
- Initial intel received from Star Strider codename: ShadowWings
Quote:- Shorter Bombing Runs
- Patrols DURING the bombs(With Rikti Priests)
- Long invasions
- GMs.- Additional witnesses are still being interviewed, though we can release the following verbal account from Star Strider codename: Sandy
Quote:Originally Posted by Sandolphan briefing - S. Kype communications satellitePretty sure it was GM* triggered. Your current mission - Intelligence gathering.
This attack struck early on catching us offguard. We would benefit from additional reports as to how different the enemy strategy is from previous invasions. Have the mechanics changed substantially? Our best defense is to Observe while Act(ing) - and File detailed reports:
- How much time was given between the initial public calls and the second siren?
- How many and what kind of ground troops appeared. Have their numbers increased substantially? Are we seeing new types of combatants? Photographs using cameras, cellphones, and HUD devices would be greatly appreciated.
- How many and in which direction were Dropships flying? In years past, approximately 9 ships each would pass in 2 seperate routes in 2 waves. Has their squadron changed since?
- Were their flight patterns consistent with previously documented routes? Our cityscapes have changed with many new buildings (AE) altering the skyline. Please bookmark this link > http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Rikti_World_Invasion (scroll to the bottom for all maps). Time permitting, compare previous routes and supply Star Striders with any substantial flight changes.
- If possible without endangering yourself, make note of how long the ships pass through each district. We'd like to compare this to last year's reports and see if there is a change in -speed- of their Dropships.

Quote:Quick response:Yeah, it is. Hate to be the one to rain on the parade, but anyone remember the "Star Strider" thing running across all servers last year? The devs giving each server various tasks and things to protect?
Whole lotta setup, and that went nowhere.
The Champion server's video says it all > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO8tbKvto1I
Long response:
Yep, I can personally attest to the fact that it was a "Whole lotta setup." =P
It was not easy but it was a blast. This year will be our 3rd registering folks for Star Strider Forces. The last two, we took American_Valor up on the Dropship Challenge and defeated:
- 41 Dropships (blueside), Nov 20th 2008
- 28 Dropships (redside), July 17th 2009
- 60 Dropships (blueside), July 18th 2009
We were not the only server. American_Valor spearheaded Liberty server and _Cherry_ organized the Champion server.
That's the beauty in it all - we're creating our own adventure using our favorite characters and the available environment. If it is a scheduled Invasion week, we'll work on breaking our previous records with old and fresh faces. If it is a modified event or entirely new experience then we're getting a headstart on the time-consuming task of assembling an army reserve.

Looks good. <wonders what everyone is wearing>

Work.. yes and no.

Due to previous roster restrictions (75 versus 150), many older SG's had seperate homes for new recruits and alts (Our chapters are: Angry Angels Academy & Jaded Angels Lyceum) and active or retired level 50's. Thought, I still see newer groups running multiple units for various reasons - from population growth to providing immersive RP environments (plural).
In my experience, it had/has its pro's and cons.
Pro:
- providing space if your main chapter is full or near full
- provides some SG's a place to oversee members new to their organization
- provide*d* SG-mates an opportunity to better organize level-specific play dates (prior to SSK)
- provides more than one SG base so that you can offer more roleplay themed environments/meeting places
Con:
- splits prestige
- splits visual check of who is online on the sister chapters
- may delay moves to the main base if a member plays unusual hours
- causes members to have to reset their prestige/tenure counter if moving between chapters
Grae has a really strong group of about.. 11? chapters.. including an Academy and 50's. May want to ask him. -
Not at all. Mobilizing all forces (this includes the infamous Mister Haetron) - Paragon City to the Rogue Isles. Analyzing intel now. FAQ coming to original announcent Soon[tm]!

Just added information above! We may not make it this time but we die standing and unified. -

Intel Summary
- 2010/January/07 at 01:25 Central Standard Time, Rikti Redname: N'Iv I'Ene publically asserted terroristic intentions.
- 2010/January/12, a national information source released the following information:

1. Register or re-enlist with Star Strider Forces, an organization founded under now MIA operative, Ex Libris. She was last heard from 2009/April/22. It is possible that the Redname Rikti: N'Iv I'Ene, A'V At'Ea, and T'He O'Cho have been working within our system for some time. Registration with the Star Strider Forces is both a tribute to Ex Libris and the men and women who served before -and- an aggressive uniformed presence. We believe this high-profile presence heightens citizen awareness, bolsters morale, and sends a message to our interdimensional aggressors.
2. We ask that all super-powered citizens and organizations from Paragon City and the Rogue Isles turn -on- their global alert channels. This includes but is not limited to: System Alerts, Public-, Group-, and Private Global Channels.
3. Take inventory and/or supplement your personal resources now: Vanguard Heavies, domesticated Shivans, Nuclear devices commonly obtained in Warburg, etc.
FAQ
"Is registration mandatory?"
No. Neither is dying unprepared. Everything is your choice.
"Is it another scheduled Rikti Invasion?"
We have no information in regards to the size or type of threat other than those made by Rikti Rednames. The Rikti "Mothership" has been cited in enemy communications but not seen or officially confirmed. We are preparing for any possible threat including ground forces, dropships, and the mothership itself. Because attacks are spontaneous, our best defense is communication, assembly and education.
Between 2008 and 2009 (archives available to the public), we have destroyed over 100 Rikti Dropships and fought at numerous Mothership Raids in the Rikti War Zone. This year may be an entirely new experience.
"Is there anything else someone can tell us?"
Information will be distributed as it becomes available. Depending on time provided, a live presentation in the Vanguard Readiness Room -or- a crash course will be provided by veteran officers.
Thank you for your contributions - past, present, and future. <salute> -
Quote:A while back, one of the forum posters had a signature that read, "Love is precious, no matter where you find it." I imagine the same holds for purposely procuring small doses of simple, innocent joy. Happiness is precious, no matter where you find it.
H: "So having them all doesn't actually do anything... it's just... for your own happiness."
M: "... Yeah."
Best of wishes to your roommate. Hope she's doing better now. -
Last day for the event - Jan 12. Last minute pointers for anyone who is just returning home from extended holiday or still not pinned with gold (edit > referring to advanced slope but this works for the bunny hop as well):
- Kins are your bff4life. Interial Reduction + Speed boost + Ninja Run gets it every time. Even without SS, AM, Sprint, Swift, etc. So a gaggle of kins in Virtue were loitering, drinking, and taking turns boosting holiday spirits in Virtue PD1 last night. Consistently grabbed gold on twenty alts. We used the jingle pack to hover and wait out the timer before the finish line for silver and bronze. So that's it. I didn't have to switch builds like I did on my first two mains.
- Low level alts dragged without supersidekick. The kins were in their mid to high 30's. In order for my level 3 and 18 to gold, it required the SSK to charge up their speed a bit.
- If you don't have Ninja Run. Dunno. I suppose if your alt has SS or two kins but gosh I love that pack. If you jump straight up and back in the air, it's an beautiful back flip. Tres elegant.
That's it. We have a day left. GL to anyone who wants this and still doesn't have it. I might be on tonight and have two kins. If you're on Virtue, pm my global - @Ara -
<head on desk>
Thank you.
Though, your avatar cheered me up. -
Problem: Unable to permanently change SG emblems in base on glass and floorplates.
Before:
If I moved or sold and repurchased just one item ( one of the two glass pieces, for example), it would change all the other items of that type throughout the base.
Now:
The same method temporarily changes the emblem. It will do so while in the editor and for a time. When exiting the base and returning, I find that the SG emblems revert to whatever they were last.
Did things change? Do I now have to sell every single item of that type to change emblems or am I just doing something wrong? -

Woot! Sincere "Congratulations"! < different than a level "Gratz!", no one look at me funny
We only got actual ground-hugging snow once in San Antonio when I was nine. I made all the old folks in my neighborhood hand over their yards for my winter empire. -
Quote:Damn. That's really really nice.As last years Virtues Server and overall winner for Ms Rogue Isles, I'd like to congratulate everyone involved. PERC for organizing this and to all the participants for putting yourselves out there for judging. Its a brave thing. To the winners good job!
Also just for the record my entry Clockwork Bride, was a walk in.

I'll share too :P This was my Bane Spider, Czarina, in her tribute to the Cossacks.

Just got gold on the advanced run.
Ran to a trainer to create a second build with just about every travel imaginable: SS, Combat Jumping, Swift, and Flight - because I never know which jump pad takes me back up top.
Didn't use Ninja Run, I was wildly out of control on it.
Virtue's nice.. there was a small army of kins (SB, IR) and rads (AM) up top. I had three buffs on me that last run. -
Good to hear she'll be ok. Grannies are tough these days. Don't ever sass her!
And if your computer is up and running.. Winter Event live today! Come get some candy canes with us. I'll be running teams tonight. -

I like to make people smile even if it's lame :P Which is often.. Ah man, now I'm feeling a bit sad.
Whelps, tomorrow is another day. Send your grandma some love from us. -
<hugs> Sorry to hear.
I checked and rechecked Google images for the cutest, warmest, most optimistic "Hang in There" poster ever. In the end, I figured you'd appreciate this infinitely more :

Quote:Grats on Shop Keeper and pre-grats on finishing! All,
Zube just today was awarded the Shop Keeper badge. This just leaves me two more day job badges to get, and I'm at zero time on both, so in 6 weeks I should complete all Day Job badges. (Ironically enough, this will be very close to my birthday.)
Quote:So who out there is closer to completing all day job badges than I am? Just curious.
Should be something like 621 badges:
Current 617 (616 + Lost Savior)
2 Dayjobs left
1 Dayjob accolade
1 Vet Reward
...
My scrapper has a ways to go yet. Missing 5 Dayjobs, 3 Dayjob accolades, and the 1 Vet Reward. Early March? Hopefully right in time for GR's launch as well. 689 + 9 = 698
.. oh noes, 2 shy of 700. <breaks out the glitter and glue to make my own up>
