Probably bringing Tina Beretta this week - FF/DP, lvl 31.
-
Quote:I'm not very happy about it either, but it was a cascading effect of GenCon being forced to move....I'm glad to see some local-to-me CoH action happening, but I'm going to be in Philadelphia that weekend. I really hate that they moved Origins this year.
Maybe we can do a smaller Meet 'n' Greet for central Ohio at one of the other local cons. -
Quote:Yes, it did.I bought all the Brute IOs on the market, then bought 12 packs for Catalysts so I can have the enhanced versions. 12 packs - not a single Catalysts. I was starting to wonder if I'd read wrong about these dropping catalysts. Did the RNG just hate me?
I got 2 Catalysts in the first 9 packs I opened; along with 3 or 4 ATIO's and 5 costume parts and a crapton of merits. -
Well, I guess I can be there after all - not sure who I'm bringing.
-
I can act a local liaison again this year. Plan on me and my husband attending any event we organize, especially if it is not part of Origins itself (i.e., we don't have to register and pay any Origins fees). Possibly, my sister may also attend.
Looking forward to getting together with folks again this year. We increased attendance from the prior year, and I hope we continue to grow the event. -
Hmm, I'm betting the husband might be a bit miffed if I sign up for a TF on Valentine's Day....
Probably not making it this week, catch everyone next week. -
I can join in this week. Bringing either Winter Shock (electric/icy cold controller, level 41) or Scorching Wrath (fire/thermal corruptor).

Quote:I am so hoping there are pictures!Hell, even Hyperstrike I like enough to still want to room with at the spring Pummit. Part of me thinks it would be kind of fun and cathartic to yell at each other in person instead of all of this typing back and forth; at least we could finish the fight by having a beer or something.
Count me with the Intraverts who don't enjoy massive raids - too much going on, it really can be a lot like a noisy party/kegger. And that is exhausting.
OTOH, I regularly team for TFs, and quite enjoy chatting with my team mates. -
Wow - crickets....
I should be therre, not sure who I am bringing, but as always, most likely someone who blasts stuff, maybe with some buffs/debuffs. -
I'm not there all the time - in fact the months of Feb. - April are bad for me to be online on a Saturday afternoon.
But I would also like to experience all of the Shard TFs, including Quaterfield.
And I'm VIP as well - I love the idea of running through all the SSAs in sequence over a couple of sessions. I hope I can make it. -
Or to the Midwest.
Add me to the list of those who would really, really like to go to one of the Summits, but can't afford the air fare, hotel, time off work, etc.
Each time one of these is announced and discussed, it rubs just a little bit more lemon juice into the cut. -
Quote:Sorry, but I find the practice fairly shady and distasteful myself.
Worse, something like this would pull significant time from a Paragon Employee's schedule, as something like this .
Seriously, stuff like this always starts out cleanly enough.HAS to be ruthlessly policed so that it isn't subverted by ad groups serving up malware
But, sooner or later, such networks are subverted by crapware pushers.
Moreover, while I love CoH, I don't think it has enough social presence to command worthwhile revenues from this. This means people participating in the program are going to be scrabbling over a too-small pool of points.
/unsignedQuote:Sounds like a great way to get a bunch of viruses on your computer.
Both of these.
NC/Paragon would have zero control over what is on the other website, other than dedicating multiple employees - I would think at least one per shift to handle new issues as they come up, since the game is international and folks play at all hours.
I'm on some of the social media sites all day, but I never click on those side ads or take surveys simply because I have no way of determining whether I'm going to pick up something nasty once I leave the social media website.
I don't worry about that on the social media website itself or even on a couple of the game websites (like the big one that starts with a "Z") because I am more confident that they have controls in place to prevent nasty bugs passing through their own content.
OP, you have an awful lot of faith in the "kindness of strangers" if you can't acknowledge the problems that some have raised with your idea. Me, I'm way more skeptical about relying on an outside website provider..... -
Not going to make it tonight - have fun!
-
I finally decided who to bring - AdAstra (dark/ice blaster) will exemp down be cause she needs this one as part of TFC (she also needs Manti & Numina).
-
Due to an ice storm in central Ohio, I can make the TF today.
Bringing Winter Shock, electric/icey-cold troller. lvl 41 or 42. -
Well, I just finished adding it up. I surprised myself - I'm solidly a (D).

Quote:Actually, I did share in my post - I hate the run animation for Male & Huge, although, the grunting is also pretty bad.Boy am I ever late to the party.
One thing I've noticed over the years is that female players tend to play female characters. I've asked about this phenomenon, but I've never gotten a straight answer (except for that one person who didn't like the sound of all the jumping grunts). Does no one know why they play female characters? |-:
Of course, many male players also play female characters exclusively, so the reverse isn't true.
How 'bout ye, female players? I skimmed the thread looking at the answers to that question, and there's an overwhelming preference for female characters. Care to share why you play female characters?
I think more than a couple of others shared that they can't find a costume that they like or that the male hairstyles are all dreck (or words to that effect). -
What side do you pick more than others?
Mainly hero, although I have a dozen villain concepts still around.
What play style do you prefer?
See sig - I blast stuff, even when I'm playing 'fenders and 'trollers. If I am in melee, it's a scrapper.
What power set(s) do you favor?
Blasty stuff - fire and energy are kewl. And I love my new namesake Dark Blaster.
What zones do you like the most?
I spend the most time in Talos, but that's mainly because it is still a hub of sorts, with access to about eveything else, so I can go to where the fun is if something is called out on a global.
Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''?
All of my characters are female. I cannot stand the way male & huge models run, like they have a stick up their hindquarters. Females carrying weapons have the same look, but I try to overlook that and try not to run while carrying a broadsword out, etc.
BTW, I used to reprimand people for using the word "toon". That is a game by Steve Jackson Games, and it generally referred to an anthropomorphic rhino or badger, a la Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (that dates the game - and me - doesn't it?). I gave up years ago, too many people seem to like the term "toon".
Views on Role Playing?
I don't usually RP, although I am part of a couple of regular TF groups that do some light RP while running TFs. It's generally the same characters (see what I did there?) so each of them develops a bit of personality leading to RP during the string of TFs.
Servers?
Infinity, mostly. Villains are on Triumph. I have bases on those two servers and also Guardian, Liberty (where I started) and Victory, so I have several characters on those servers as well. -

Quote:Well, my experience is counter to yours, although I suspect that is because I have never actually done any gaming in my FLGS (friendly local game store), just some shopping, and usually with my husband. All of the gaming groups I belong to (currently 3) are at least split 50/50 male female, and one of them has only 2 male members out of a mix that varies from 6 to 8 depending upon the game. It's not going to change until we "boy gamers" start seeing more females IN PERSON around the gaming table playing RPGs and other table games. The collectable/tradeable card games do see more females, though.
I own a game store. I haven't seen who plays in the RPGs that happen every night and sometimes day, but I'm sure I can count on one hand how many players are female, and I won't have to use all my fingers, either. (I know of two offhand, and doubt there's more, but there could be). Miniatures night there might be a wife and husband that play, but with two kids they don't show up often. I can understand the lack of females in miniatures since most are historical wargames, but there are a few fantasy skirmish ones as well (I have an elven army with a couple of unicorns and couple of faeries, manly ones of course , and quite a few female figures.. I like painting those ).
I'll take the blondes, Tenzhi.
In fact, not to be stereotypical, the Sunday afternoon group female population usually has knitting or other hand work to do during gaming, so the group is kind of a mix between knitting circle and gaming group.
Oh, and in case it wasn't clear from the above - female, gaming for about 20 years now, starting in tabletop, branching out into computer (Heroes of Might & Magic I-IV FTW), then taking up CoX because of the costume creator & superhero theme. -
Quote:^^^Generally speaking, I will go to my salvage/recipes before a TF and trash or vend what I don't want/need. Before a TF, I also sort my salvage by amount descending.
If, in the middle of a task I notice one of them is red, I will wait for a lull in action (between missions, if someone is stealthing, between spawns, etc) I will quickly open my salvage, right click and hit "s" to delete the stack of 9 Kinetic Weapons, 7 Rubies and 5 Hydraulic Pistons. If I happened to need one, I would likely get a bid of 5 inf to fill relatively quickly.
The same goes for recipes, though I tend to put higher priority on monitoring them. I'll quickly delete the temp powers and low-value IOs during a pause in action.
It literally takes seconds to do it.
This. I never start a TF without "emptying my pockets". And I have also found that if I do this and I still get a full Enh tray or Recipe box, then it's extremely likely that one or more of my team also has a full tray or box, so it's no big deal for the team to take a short break to either sell or store stuff in the vault or SG Enh tables. Recipes are a bit more problematic, but a quick trip to the store to sell Common IO recipes doesn't take long either.
And, as others have pointed out, the Devs have already provided a solution - purchase more inventory. -
I will be there with somebody, not sure who yet. It will be either a blaster or a controller, I think that is all I have in range right now.
-
Yay! Another Saturday TF I can be at!
Bringing Winter Shock (elec/icey cold 'troller). -
Quote:Seconded - some really nice character development for a couple of the bigger NPCs in that arc. (not saying who, mind you, because you need to run the arc). "O, Wretched Man" is a favorite of mine. One of my favorite villain arcs is the arc you get from Seer Marino in Mercy Island. She is a late teens contact; she is introduced by Willy Wheeler and some other contacts, but you can just find her (on Cerberus) and she will start giving you missions.
I'm not that big a fan of the 20s arcs villain-side, but some of them are pretty good. Dean McArthur's arc has some twists.
Paragonwiki will have lists - if one of those sounds intriguing, you may need to search it out. Make sure you are doing at east one run for your broker when you go up a zone. Since there are 3 (?) of you, you have a good chance to have 3 different contacts given by the broker when you turn it in.
