According to Seattle the website/forums updates will require no/negligible downtime. I classify negligible as 15 minutes or less.

    Fingers crossed.
  2. As stated above, it's something completely different than a level pact.

Don't expect Super packs 2 until late june at the earliest.

SSA 2.1 and retro sci fi are due in the may/june timeframe, however.
    Just to manage expectations properly...

Super Packs 2 is more like July/August timeframe, no specific date given.

Yes, that means that people get a 48-hour period instead of 24-hour. But they can only get one, so what difference does it make?

    2) Change the name of the program so that it's not confusing people. Call it "Freebie Day" instead. If they had called it "Freebie Day" to start with, you'd probably still have some people who forget about it, but at least it puts the onus on them to figure out when exactly it is instead of naming it something that is easily assumed to be something it's not.
1.) Sorry Tony, but we already ask a lot out of our business and development teams. They work long hours during the week, wake up early to push Market updates and stay late to make sure everything is good to go. Right now we're not considering asking someone to basically schedule their weekends around updating something at 4 PM each Saturday. I worked weekends, and still do from time to time, for *many* years, and if asked to, I'm sure that the person responsible for this system would log in on Saturday and do it, but it's a matter of QOL, and here at Paragon, we strongly believe in keeping a good balance, whenever possible, between work and personal.

2.) Black Pebble loves alliteration. Besides, it's Friday somewhere!

In all seriousness, once the pilot program is complete, it's entirely possible that we'll rename it to something like "Free Offer of the Day" or "Weekly Freebie", but for now, let's just roll with it, k?
  5. The system has automation, however it's not reliable. So rather than risk it *not* working correctly, we run the process manually.

Please keep in mind that this is a *test* program. It will only run for a limited time, then we'll evaluate the metrics we gather from it and possibly implement it in a much more polished fashion. For the time being, we're going to maintain the current cadence of events.

  6. Well TJ, it's a good thing you can watch our Hangouts live on YouTube .

    http://www.youtube.com/user/ncsoftnorcal/feed

You may not be able to join in on the actual discussion, but you can watch other folks and hopefully glean interesting information, like which hat I'm wearing that day.
  7. That's the plan.

I'm currently waiting for some new Hardware before we start doing them, however the idea is to do it like a Fireside chat where the fans can either try to participate or can just tune in.

With the capability to watch Hangouts in progress G+ has gone from an interesting experiment to an actually viable platform, for the purposes of Community Relations at least.

    Eh?

We've not been locked out of our Social Media ever while I've been here.
  9. What were you doing when it occurred?

    Is it reproduce-able? Reliably so?

    Thanks

    So, three things Zwill:

    1. Are you going to CM that new project?

    2. Have they hired anyone to CM that new project?

    3. Can they hire me to CM a non-existent community for a full time salary for the next two years? I promise to work really, really hard managing the non-yet-existent community!
There's a lot of planning that goes into building a Community. It's extremely useful to be on the ground, so to speak, early to establish the tools you'll need to do your job effectively.

CM's are more than just forum jockey's these days.

    As to your questions:

    1. I manage the Community aspect of all Paragon Titles

    2. Yes, they hired me

    3. Depends, how much do you like research and documentation?

Dark Watcher is the only one that jumps out at me.

There's a few others you all have never had forums interaction with. Take into account that people have also been replaced with new hires as well. Generally speaking, I don't think it's appropriate to make a big deal out of people shifting around in the studio. COH still has a strong, dedicated development team and the fact that Paragon has other coals in the fire is a pretty exciting prospect. I know that I'm especially excited as the prospect of building a new Community from the ground up is a challenge I'm looking forward to (I'm not going anywhere, I'm in charge of all of Paragon's Communities )

Many of the people who have opted to shift to another project have put in many years on COH. While that's definitely admirable, from a professional and creative standpoint, I don't think anyone can begrudge them wanting a change of pace.
  14. We've got a bit of housekeeping to do and the updated rules to post.

There will be some changes in the coming weeks, however nothing terribly drastic.

  17. I am not a Brony.

I post meme's of MLP that I find amusing, and have relented to allowing my 5 year old sons to watching the show on Netflix, however that's the extent of it.

Black Scorpion is about as close as it comes, however he's working on another project now.
  18. Obviously the one on the right is the GOOD El Super Mexicano.

The Denny's principal applies in Paragon City just like in your hometown.

  22. They're gaming journalists. They have to play hundreds of games for a living, so maybe we could give them a bit of leeway?

Look at it this way: people who would be new to COH aren't exactly looking to see how well the guy behind the keyboard is playing the game. These live streams are great exposure for the game, which is why we're looking to host some ourselves.
  23. While I do respect differing opinions and viewpoints:

If we had wanted to kill off States out of spite, we would have done so years ago. There's been nothing keeping us from doing so.

The death of Statesman (and Sister Psyche) was part of a huge change to the City of Heroes franchise; the move to a Hybrid model. We wanted to do something big, something impactful and something that could give us more avenues to make you, the player, the primary focus.

Were there obvious allusions and comparisons made to Jack and his relation to States? Of course. There's plenty of press opportunities there, and it's something that drew interest from veteran players, current players and new players alike, as well as gaming journalists familiar with the franchise. I absolutely agree that there was some real world symbolism, as Matt expressed in an article he wrote on the topic, however to say there was malice or prejudice involved would be spurious.

This industry is entirely too small to burn bridges.

There's also the point that the SSA1 stories weren't directly written by Matt. I believe most of the writing was handled by Dr. Aeon.
  24. Terrifying.

Also, why aren't you joining in!
