Phara eyed the black envelope curiously before opening and reading it. Hmph. Well, that's new. Guess being on the 'Destined One' list might just be paying off.

Settling down into one of the many uncomfortable seats dotted around the university, she tapped the invitation against the arm of the chair, thinking. Could be an chance to 'network'. Could always use more... well, maybe 'friends' ain't the word. She crossed her legs. Dupes? She thought, smiling to herself. The smile faded. 'Course, it could be a trap... They probably wouldn't want to let me go that easy...

Frowning, she shifted in her seat uncomfortably. Finally she rose, mind made up and went to look for the nearest available computer.

"I'd be happy to attend this event. I would hope to arrive at approximately 19:30.

I fully understand that weapons and hostility are most unwelcome and will treat my hosts and fellow guests with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Reading over what she'd typed, Phara rolled her eyes. Damn if that sounds nothing like me... she grumbled silently. Still, that mightn't be a bad thing. She shrugged and printed it out.

Tress watched Brit leave, then, pushing off the wall, walked further in. She nodded a greeting to Helios, then sat down beside him, stretching her legs out and crossing them at the ankles.

The Tormentress walks in quietly, in time to overhear Helios' mention of an EVIL weapon. Raising an eyebrow, she leans unobtrusively against the wall, crosses her arms and listens.

Well, I'm usually in PD most nights, albeit as a 'murky type' .

That said, I doubt I'll be participating with my heroes either.

So, I'll be around somewhere, at any rate.

Damn sorry to see you go, Kelvinbridge. Won't be the same without your characters around.

Arriving around 9pm, Tress went to her post and observed the other patrons.

Noticing Lotus X/Xiao Chen was on her own, Tress engaged her in a conversation which revolved around school, professions, greed, the inner goodness of people and the lessons that X might need to learn...

After an hour or so, Tress left for her appartment and sleep.

Quiet night in Pocket D for the Tormentress.

Arriving, she assumed her usual place - leaning aganist the railing - and watched/listened to the others around the bar.

She soon heard Dr. Mechanibus praise Arachnos' motivational and inspirational 'broadcasts'. Taking exception to this, she engaged him in some debate about the futility of having a mindless populace but failed to persuade him that she was quite correct about the potential effects of said broadcasts.

The misguided and mistaken Doctor then turned to deal with an irritation and Tress took her leave.

Ah. Pedantic satisfaction.

Anyway, since I haven't posted here in months, this seems a good place to restart.

Tress arrived and lurked for some time before finally ordering some decent (and expensive) whiskey and falling into conversation with the incredibly cute little Oryctolagus - bunny ears included. As stated above, Tress burst his bubble slightly by reducing his job description to museum guard...

He left and Tress spotted Eci Hammer. Mistaking her briefly for Echo Hammer, Tress was puzzled. They were both defensive initially and Tress resorted to some uncharacteristic bullying before feeling bad and buying Ice (Eci) a coke in apology.
This was punctuated by some chat with Soren (Half N Half) and the childish insults of some random heroes which Tress largely ignored.


Hmm... Out of practice with these recap things... Next one will be better, I hope.

Well, I'm not sure where this post is going but I thought I should say that, due to an apparent lack of interest in the Clocktower meet, CT seems to have had its day.

Just thought I'd say thanks to those whom I RPed with at CT on a semi-regular basis.

I hope CT hasn't died completely but I think my involvement with it is over for the time being.


Sorry to come across so bleak and self-pitying but I felt someone had to post something about the fact that CT is, for all intents and purposes, no more.

I do usually save my RPing for IC team-ups or GG/CT but, in a situation where I was RPing in a PuG - which has happened on occasion - I'd more than likely go with a) but only to a point.

If it reached a stage where my character was insulted by the come-ons and made some IC retorts or I got the impression the other player was taking IC comments seriously, I'd definitely stop and shot them a quick tell.

Of course, having said that, there is the danger of going to far IC without realising it and non-RPers not really understanding what you're doing when you - for instance - mock their chat-up lines IC.

I worry - rightly, wrongly or too much - that non-RPers may find IC comments too much and feel belittled, even after you explain your RPing. Hence, I chiefly remain OOC outside of known IC groupings.

I do have "((Roleplayer))" in the bios of all my RP characters and will gladly answer any curious questions (to the best of my ability) or engage in some IC banter if someone seems up for it.

Personally, I can't see any point in RPing if it's causing others discomfort, you're only ruining their enjoyment of the game and I know only too well how irritating it can be when non-RPers rudely interrupt an IC meet. So I wouldn't want to do the same to others.

Torture. Now, I haven't tried it and while I have characters who might engage in it, I don't think I would be able to RP it. Same goes for [forced sex]. I might say it happened but I can't see myself RPing it actively.

Dang, I should have mentioned something about the reactor area and the necessity of selecting the Respec as your reward on completion.

I knew I'd forget something.

The above posts are good guides though.

The Respecification lets you change the powers within your two powersets and the pool powers you picked as well as where you placed your slots. It doesn't let you change your two core powersets.
Edit: Be careful what you change and try out the new build on the test server first before finalising it on live.

The Respec Trial can be undertaken 3 times, the first of which becomes available at lvl 24 and needs a minimum team of 4 (though I'd personally suggest a couple more than that). The contact is in Independence Port at the end of the Terra Volta bridge (the far end from TV).
There tends to be a lot of strange rumours and tales about how to do the Trial but treat it like a TF and you should be fine.

Not sure about the last question though... would be a good fight though...

Always good to see a new RPer! If you're on Union, I recommend the GG meet - far from the only RP and not everyone's cup of <insert beverage here> but still reasonably easy to walk up to and join in. Drop by and listen for a while to get the gist of things then just say "Hello"*

*Actual greeting may differ.

As for general guidelines, I imagine not everyone will agree 100% but these are the ones I try to abide by:
- In character (IC) actions have in character consequences. E.g. If A's hand gets broken, logically it remains broken until it heals or is healed. (Not a great example but I hope you get the gist )
- Do your best to keep Out Of Character (OOC) information separate from IC information. You the player may know something about someone's character but that doesn't mean your character knows the same thing. E.g. the blue names floating above characters heads aren't there IC...
- Godmodding. This occurs chiefly when you have your character perform an action on someone else's character without their permission. E.g. 'A punches B.' A has decided the outcome of the action giving B no choice. 'A throws a punch at B' would be better (slightly, at least - no one wants to be punched at ) as it lets B decide to let the punch connect, dodge it etc.

I must admit I was quite despondent about my Fire/Axe tank until quite recently (she'd been sitting at lvl16 for aaages...) but, after getting her up to SO level (22 with inf transfers ) and having her as the primary - if not sole tank - for a number of TFs she's shining in the midst of a good group. (Currently lvl 25, going on 26).

Yes, the early levels can be a pain and somewhat of a chore to get through - no problem admitting that - but, with a few good regular teams, things improve dramatically.

As has been said, Fire blossoms later but is still a highly viable set.

Yes, there was some confusion early on but, at this stage and despite very low numbers ( ), we tend to start at about 9pm BST/GMT (whichever one is current - I do get confuzzled... ).

I'm there as many evenings as I can so please pop by and say hi!

(And Tress' bark is worse than her bite, I can assure you. )

I would, yet again, be honoured to assist you in such a vital endeavour. I possess no love for the Council - particularly following recent events - and shall readily prepare myself for combating this new and devious plot they have conceived.

I do not doubt that many will rally to the cause and, as in the past, our efforts will be rewarded with swift success.

Well... fingers crossed you're right because CT is - despite the best efforts of the handful of regular attendees - stagnating.

Can only hope that with the hols over, people will increase their attendance... or just attend in the first place...
