Quote:Do you solo or team more?I know I'll like the combo, just can't forsee if the scourge/decent debuffs will out weigh the solo damage bonus/team endurance savings/better debuffs.
If you team more, stronger debuffs would be better. The extra damage you get from scourge is gonna be a lot smaller, relatively, than extra damage for everyone on your team via debuffs.
If you're gonna solo more, I'd go with the Corr version--after all, debuffs are only as good as the attacks that follow them. -
I will be hosting a MoBAF on 9/14 at 8PM EST in Pocket D. If you are interested in participating, please read this guide before Wednesday so that you a have an idea of what will be going on and what will be expected of you. I also have a sign-up going on my SG website's page, so don't be surprised if I add names to the list who did not sign up in this thread.
When signing up, please post your global and your character name with powersets and archetypes. I will be designing teams based on who brings what.

Quote:Was trying to go for some endurance set bonuses. Found a better match in Gift'Ancients: Def & Gift'Ancients: Def/Rch. Thanks for pointing that out.The Strange: Two slots in hover isn't strange, but slotting for -recharge is.
Quote:The Bad: Freezing Rain needs maximum -recharge. It's a huge debuff, it has damage mitigation in the knockdown and fear component
Two standard ToHitDB IOs get it to 49.8%, also freeing up a slot for me
Quote:in tornado you have 3 IO enhancements for accuracy that are flat out wasted. Tornado is auto hit. You really should put the other recharge intensive pet IO aura in tornado to set up for more durability in the pets, and therefore, the mastermind.
Quote:Snow Storm: between snow storm and freezing rain, your foes will be at the slow cap/floor. Damage and accuracy are meaningless in snow storm, but endurance cost reduction trumps all (17% is not going to cut it).
Quote:The Ugly: Protector Bots do defend, they do tohit debuff, but I am fully behind the fact they are damage dealers just as effectively. In my opinion, 2 protector bots do as much damage as 3 battle drones. In light of the defense theme, I would ditch all the tohit debuff and one of the defense enhancements. 2 Generic defenses with 2 Acc/dmg and 2 Acc/dmg/end IO of your favorite inexpensive sets are geared to your goals without gimping the Protobots.
Quote:I would try to get a slot of -kb steadfast protection in steamy in an additional slot. I would also try to slot a winter's gift slow protection in fly.
If this is a leveling build, what would the changes be once I ding 50? Also, I took out Provoke and put in Combat Jumping with 2 Def IOs to make up for some of the defense I lost from set bonuses. Is all this defense kind of moot without Provoke, though? -
I was hoping I could get some feedback on my Bots/Storm build.. It's softcapped Ranged/Melee/AoE, but I have a tendency to gimp some of my powers' slots when looking to softcap, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing that this time.
I'm looking to solo mostly, but wouldn't mind teaming every now and then, as well. Still not sure if I'm gonna go incarnate with this character--maybe just the Alpha slot. Thanks!

I'm thinking Street Justice could actually be a really good fit. I like your thought process, John. I already have a level 50 Shield Scrapper, though, so I don't know if I want to level another one up. I like the idea of zipping around the battlefield with Elec Armor, so maybe I'll try that out. Still, the shields a possibility. Thanks a lot for the help guys. I have a much clearer picture of where I want this character heading.

Quote:Though your Western interpretation definitely says Cavalry to me, (almost reminds me of those Canadian horseback riders... are they called Canadian Cavalry or something, too?) I'm going more for the Roman cavalry, but updated, look. When I get him to level 35, I'll be switching out the Blockhawk for one of the Imperious Task Force manes.Cavalry is an old school name for me. I know the military still uses it, but it evokes the Wild West in my mind. Here's a guy I made then deleted. I must have action shots of him in my screenshots folder, so if anyone is interested in the costume I'll try and dig them up.
-
Help! One of my new alts is having an identity crisis..
I already have the costume and the name picked out, but I can't for the life of me hone in on power sets, or even an archetype.
Cavalry
My gut instinct was to create a Mace/ or Axe/ Brute, but have also been thinking about Scrappers and Tankers. But I'm also open to other archetype ideas. I just wanted to get your guys' opinions on the matter--what's the first thing that comes to mind when you see the character? What power sets would fit him best?
Thanks for your ideas! -
Quote:So how does the combo system work? I can't get on beta yet to try it for myself. Does it build up like Brute's Fury, then you release it all on a "finisher"?But there's also other factors, like are the in game numbers showing the damage on the finishers as if they're being used regularly or with the additional +DMG of being used as a finisher.
*snip*
I know the BU power automatically fills up the combo meter, but I have to say, a bit disappointed that SJ doesn't get the +100% Damage on BU (believe it was 64-65%) and not sure if filling the combo bar is enough of a reason to downgrade it's +DMG. -
The animations look sweet! I was just wondering if there was any more information on the combo system? It seems like the information for Freedom is all over the place; even on the main website it's broken down into like 2 or 3 pages. Anyone have a link that explains the mechanics of the powerset in more detail?

-
Do you mean that the powersets are team oriented or my actual choice of powers lends this to be better for teams? I was thinking this guy would be pretty good as a solo'er, actually.
My feeling with Domination was that since it only affects the mez powers, it isn't so important on this guy who's using lots of Earth Assault powers in melee range.
You make a good point though that if I can get Flash Fire up for every mob, that should be relatively as effective as soft-capped defense, since no one will be hitting me either way. -
Hey guys, I was hoping I could get some feedback on my Fire/Earth build. I'm looking to stay in melee range most of the time with a scrappy rather than controller-ish playstyle. For this reason, I have pseudo-capped melee defense*. It's also the reason I omitted Cinders, Bonfire, and Hurl Boulder. Finally, I'd really like to keep both Hot Feet and Mud Pots, even though I've read many suggestions of doing away with Mud Pots; so unless someone can give me a better reason than "It's not worth it." I'd like to keep it. Thanks in advanced
*Explanation:My thinking is that if I apply Smoke with every mob, I will effectively be above the defense softcap for melee damage. (41.2% DEF + 5.6% ToHitDEB = 46.8%)

I'm not sure if I'm completely missing something, but it seems that when I add Dark Watcher's Despair to my build, it *increases* the recharge time of my powers. If you toggle between Radiation Infection being 4-slotted to having no slots, and watch the "Advanced Totals" window, the Haste enhancement increases when I don't have DWD slotted. This isn't a Rule of 5 issue, as I don't have more than five +5% recharge set bonuses, so is this just a glitch or am I missing something?

I'm rolling a Plant/Cold Controller named Snow.Pea
I'll get her up to 20 hopefully by Saturday, and I'll try and meet up with you guys -
My Illusion controller and second level 50 is an Illusion/Radiation fairy named Mind 'n Matter. He uses the spirits of his ancestors and their powers for Illusion/, and taps into the primal forces of nature for /Radiation. Illus/Rad is a *very* strong build, and is also QUITE fun. So fun, in fact, it cured my alt-itis for most of its journey to 50
Personally, I think Illusion lends itself to being a little more "techy", corresponding with sets such as Kinetics, Force Field, and and Sonic Resonance, whereas primaries like Plant and Mind lend themselves to being more "magicky"... Though that's just my personal opinion.
Along those lines, though, I'm thinking Illusion/Kin could be pretty strong--Speed Boost would really help you reach Perma PA more easily. Kinetics,a good secondary to boost team damage output, paired with an offensive-oriented primary such as Illusion, would be awesome.
Concept-wise, I've always liked the idea of a filmmaker/actor-themed Illusion controller, especially since Illusion has lots of flashy, Hollywood-esque powers (Spectral Wounds, Blind, Flash, Phantasm, etc). And "Dramatic Effect" would make a pretty sweet name I think the animations of Kinetics could work well for this concept, or you could recolor Rad to be white or gold (Gold /Radiation is a beautiful power customization, imo). Sonic Resonance fits well for the performer concept, too.
An Illusion/Emp could draw their powers from "deceiving" their teammates into thinking they're healthier than they actually are. Same with /FF, perhaps. Illusion/TA or Thermal or Storm could be an Indian priest(ess) or a shaman of some nature.
Sorry for the long post, I'm just throwing up some ideas Hope something I said can inspire ya. -
Hey guys. I've worked really hard on this build, and it's DEF is softcapped for S/L/E/Melee/Ranged. I just wanted to get your feedback on this--I thought it was pretty sweet that I was able to get so much defense, but perhaps it's overkill? While striving for defense, have I handicapped myself too much in other areas? I'd really appreciate your comments

Thanks for the responses guys.. I'm trying out both Fire/Traps and AR/Dark, but I'm really liking Fire/Traps a lot so far
And thanks for providing that build, plainguy, I appreciate it! I think I'm going to use some ideas from that while formulating my own. Just a question though--I really want to take Fly for concept reasons; is this feasible with /Traps? I was going to put a Celerity: +Stealth, and pick up Stealth, and figured that'd make me invisible. But can I lay traps while I'm in the air? I sure hope so! -
So I have a concept for a new corruptor, which uses both machines and magic to do villainy. I have a few possibilities for powerset combos, I'm just not sure which one would be best, so I was hoping for some feedback and suggestions. I'm looking to solo *and* team, but not really looking for anything special besides that. I usually play Scrappers, so I'm fine with more conventional play, but also willing to try more quirky tactics for some change. These are the possible combos:
Dual Pistols/Dark Miasma
Dual Pistols/Storm Summoning
Assault Rifle/Dark Miasma
Assault Rifle/Storm Summoning
Dark Blast/Traps
Fire Blast/Traps
Thoughts? -
You know, I always steered away from super speed for that same reason.. But my new main has super speed, and I've found that Combat Jumping, Sprint (slotted w/ 1 Jump), and Hurdle (slotted w/ 1 or 2 Jumps) works pretty well for most situations. Anything that's *really* tall can be tackled by the Prestige Jump Pack or the Steampunk Jet Pack.
-
I'll probably work on colors at some point.. I'm taking a little break from it though because I've spent so much time on it haha. I also have a design commission for a musical production, so I don't know how much time I'll have to work on stuff just for fun. I'm glad you guys like it
-
Hey guys! I'm super excited to share with you this piece which I've been working on over the past two - three weeks. It's of my current main, Defiant Gal. It was inspired by a picture over on deviantART of Wonder Woman, the link to which I can't find right now, unfortunately. I really hope you guys like it!!!
-
Not only is the art fantastic, I love seeing your character concepts, MB. You really have some lovely designs, which is only too well showcased by these fantastic artists. Can't wait to see some new stuff
-
Nice, Xeno, this is really cool! Love the character design, and also the painty feel you were able to give this. And those flames look fantastic!
