Would you buy the old CoH comics? Do you still have any?

Quote:+45% is double now?
Still, what with the cottage rule, I rather strongly doubt any of the powers in Fire Manipulation are going to get traded for Fiery Embrace. Build Up could plausibly be traded so, but with the upcoming snipe changes that wouldn't actually be desirable.
I don't know about that. 20 seconds of "better than buildup" is pretty tasty... especially when you take into account that Fire is all about the Aye Oh Eeez anyway. -
Quote:You mean would I trade an AoE out of the 993485943875 I've got for another buff power, of which I have two? A thematic buff power no less?So you're agreeing that having Fiery Embrace would be redundant because cycling your attack powers is redundant, and that a Fire blaster's abilities are in themselves redundant?
Yeah, I feel pretty comfortable going there. -
Quote:So,.. you want Fire Manipulation to have two Build Up type* powers?
I don't see that ever happening. Once upon a time I could have seen them swapping out Build Up for Fiery Embrace... but not anymore, what with the upcoming Sniper changes (since FE has no ToHit bonus).
*Burst damage increases
Well, consider the nature of Fire Manipulation... and I got a 50 Fire/Fire blaster here.. I got an idea of what I'm talking about.
The Fire/Fire blaster is arguably the most brittle character in the game. He has zero defense and ONE... that's right... ONE crowd control effect that doesn't impede him as well (hotfeet makes it so you can't fly, and slows down the enemy a bit too).
What the Fire/Fire blaster does... and does remarkably well is put out gobs and gobs and GOBS of AoE damage. A Fire/Fire blaster has a higher DPS than pretty much anyone in the game when in their element (i.e. surrounded).
However, they are remarkably redundant. Take a look at Fire Manip... seven of the nine powers are some form of AoE, three of which exist to deal damage.
I think my old attack chain would go something like aim/buildup, fbal, fire breath, combustion, firesword circle, and then fbal again... and pretty much everything in the world was dead at that point.
And it was also very redundant. -
Arbiter, is it possible to make CoH a twitch game or something similar? It may simply not be possible with your current engine, but I suspect it would go a long way towards increasing the longevity of the game if a blaster with the assault rifle actually felt like a blaster with an assault rifle and not a guy shooting homing bullets.
-
Well, either way it should replace SOMETHING. Fiery Embrace is just tailor made for the Fire Manipulation set.
COH DEVZ... Y U NO ADD FIERY EMBRACE TO FIRE MANIPPLETION? -
From a 7 year old thread... we were discussing when the blaster secondaries would get looked at... sometime in 2006.

If you made that up yourself that was HILARIOUS.
However, /Fire is good stuff. All I'd like to see done is the removal of burn in exchange for Fiery Embrace.
I'd like to reiterate my desire to see Fiery Embrace plastered squarely in Fire Manipulation. -
For heaven's sake... just play a tanker already. Want damage? Got it. Want survivability? Got that in spades? Want to be able to keep your team alive? Few make it more possible than a good tanker.

Hi guys...
I've been away for a little while... wondering who the girl with the purple sword is... and the guy in the bear mouth... whose he?
Also... do any of you... remember me? -
They are almost always smiling, in that white, sharp-toothed grin of theirs, and more often than not you cannot tell whether or not they are eyeing you like a side of meat. Despite their unsettling near-savagery they have a disarming charm which almost offsets their strange.... Almost. They are extremely intelligent, and are exceedingly agile, they are well-suited for...

As I sit here I reminisce about the halcyon days when CoH was a noob. When it was inexperienced. When it had never known the joys of my presence.
And then... I arrived.
It took the game a while to adapt and adjust to my playstyle. There were times of learning... and times of relearning.... and some things that need to be relearned again. When I was displeased with my ice blaster I spoke with statesman about sending the development team north for "re-education" until they understood the nature of ice, and of what an ice blaster should be.
Still, I wouldn't call the game a stupid noob. How could it anticipate dealing with someone of my caliber?
The short answer? It couldn't.
Understanding this I was reasonably patient with the devs and the community at large. I would dispense intellectual beatings as I saw fit, and the community would thank me and ask for another (Why do you think people troll my threads. No, really. Think about it.).
So, I have to say I have no stupid noob story to relate. -
It's funnier as Ifinity... here's why.
Wen you pronounce Infinity you make the (I believe) long I sound... as heard in.. well... in.
When you say I... as in I6, or I8 you make the short I sound.... as in... I. (yeah).
Calling it Ifinity attaches the common "infinity" (despite being only a part of the word... it lets our minds wrap around the concept)... to the typical I for issue.
The joke being Issue Infinity (as in never going to happen... or at least not while we still have more hair on our heads than in our ears) -

I hate superjump, but it is, hands down, the best all around travel power there is.
I do however, love flight. -

Can you tell us if the jetpack will remain visible or will it vanish when the 30 seconds is up. Obviously the power benefit would vanish after the 30 seconds but.. just hoping there's a way to keep it visible for those characters who want that option for their costume.

From a powers/animation standpoint, the backpack geometry fades away after a period of non-use. I do not believe the geometry is available as a 'Cape' option so it is always present, though. I'm not Jay, though, so I could certainly be wrong!

I think you need to exercise your imagniation here. It seems to be lacking in flexibility. Or if it bothers you so much, just dont use it.

An apology,
Now that you've enlightened me...
Believe it, it's true
Otherwise, why would I respond?
Your intuitive arguments have dazzled me. -

I cannot begin to exress my displeasure over the notion that the jetpack will be an acvtual jetpack.
DON'T DO IT.
Having a jetpack means we'll ave mystical magical wizards flying around on them... or not, because they don't want to 'break character".
Demons with jetpacks?
listen, make it a simple non object animation, something I can work into my character even if it's called "jetpack".
I'll explain.
many of my characters use prestige power slide. However, not all of them do.
When a character can manipulate certain energies or the like they're more likely to use powerslide,
Other characters, those who simply "run" or do not have the abilitiy to manipulate said energies, use sprint.
The prestige Powerslide can be turned into MANY different things. It's that open ended.
It could come from a mutants abilities, a magical spel, heck, a pair of techno shoes... either way, all origins can incorporate it into their design.
A jetpack would be flat out stupid on a great many characters and would force people to choose between suspension of disbelief and convenience.
That is a BAD choice to push onto players. -
I would contend that Faith, true Faith as it were is another fine example of how a character can still be natural in origin. Though some might contend that it would be a magic origin, I contend that Faith is based largely on personal belief, and so is dervitive of the individual. Since all persons can have faith, some just more mightily so, I say Faith would be an example of a natural hero.
