I was wondering if anyone was going to take Manticore to task over the killing of Sister Psyche, even when trying to save the world.

The Freedom Phalanx was well aware of how much Manticore loved Sister Psyche, so there's no doubt that it was necessary. (And I suspect he gave Penny a headache for a while with all the guilt he was emitting.)

But I'm sure there was some concern about "so what's he going to do now".

Oh true, I hadn't thought about the Penny angle. No doubt she would have reassured him.

Penny may have tried. It would have gone poorly. Perhaps that's why Manticore was so snippy towards her in SSA2 (bringing things full circle).

Just finished the Blueside part. I didn't find Mender Silos' comments all that vague and mysterious. There was actually quite a bit of subtext there:

You ask him where Nemesis is, and he replies "Where is Nemesis? blah, blah..." His emphasis of the word Where suggests to me that if we'd instead asked- When- he might have had to definitively confess that he was Nemesis.

He goes on to talk about how Nemesis would take a long time to get over his defeat here, and learn that he isn't a man apart from the world. Sounds like another veiled confession by Silos to me; that this defeat was a pivotal moment in his life as Nemesis, and eventually helped him to come to the semi-benevolent viewpoint of Silos.

Another interesting thing that I took away from his conversation: He was specifically trying to prevent this particular event in the timeline from occurring. That, plus the reveal that the power of Pandora will never again come together in one solitary place again.

The whole conversation seems a curious blend of contrition and regret; contrition over trying to stop your hero from preventing Nemesis attaining the power of Pandora's Box, and regret that he wasn't able to ensure that Nemesis (his past self) retained the power all to himself.

Power enough to stop the Battalion, perhaps. Without the help of anyone else.
