How nice-- now NCSoft can screw over Mac players again as well as PC players. Well, I guess that's only fair.

Great.

Here I thought they'd actually make the game native.

Prepare for memory leaks and assertion failures!

My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."

It doesn't use the Mac version of the NCSoft Launcher, so that right there means it'll be a better experience than CoH was.

It's still Transgaming. I'll pass. The sheer drop in performance on my machine is enough to make me keep using Bootcamp. The Cider wrapper is awful and it's the same one CoH used.

I have a Mac, but I have an older Mac that I bought in 2009 (and it wasn't top-of-the-line even then). Even CoH, an eight-year-old game, struggles on it. The specs required to run the GW2 Mac Beta are far above the specs of my machine.

So thanks for nothing, NC Soft.

Did you try running CoH on Bootcamp? Most of the performance/stability issues with the CoH Mac client came directly from the Cider wrapper.

Good thing I've already sworn off non-CoH NCSoft products. If the GW2 wrapper is anything like the CoH one I wouldn't need to buy any fuel oil this winter, at least until my computer melted.

Yyyyup.

What's that, vStat Menus? My GPU is at 215 degrees fahrenheit thanks to Cider? And if I end the Cider process my temperature drops back to 102?

We don't all have the cash/spare HD/patience/desire to buy and run Windows (and give up a significant chunk) of HD space to run BootCamp just for one game, unfortunately.

Bootcamp is a VERY expensive alternative to get a supposedly free game up and running if you don't already have it set up with a copy of Windows.

I'm curious now if my MBA would be supported by GW2. I hope not, as if it isn't, I'll have a better chance of securing a cash refund.

I have no interest in the GW2 genre. I came here for the superheroes.

I don't have any Windows discs to install from, and even if I did, I don't have the disc space to install an entirely separate OS (especially not Windows 7 - I'd have to delete my entire music collection just to squeeze that bloated 16-20 GB monstrosity in), all for one game that may not even be around in another three months, so... no, I haven't.

FYI, it was announced that they're giving us cash refunds. Check out Zwill's post for the details.

I've installed Windows 7 on a 6 GB disk, so you can certainly fit in a rather cramped space.
