I just submitted a diplomatically worded support ticket. What's nice is since I'm not VIP I don't get priority service and can't even look up the status of the ticket.

They have til next Tuesday. The next support ticket won't be so diplomatically worded. Though I'll kindly let the GM who receives it know to direct my ire towards his chain of command.

I also tried to use an Architect Edition code and got the "This serial code has expired. I also submitted a ticket and got no response. I usually get at least and auto response from support but so far its been quiet.

This breaks my heart. I was hoping to get VIP again....

Most of that money was what it took to get the box to me, the box itself was much less.

I knew I took a risk when ordering it. I still have a nice map now.

What a tricky mess they have on their hands now too... any and all boxes out there for sale are timebombs of disappointed costumers due a refund.

Hrm... that really stinks. Let's see what happens with customer service...

Yeah but a refund from who? NCSoft isn't the one trying to foist off surplus merchandise for a product they are no longer offering. It's the independent sellers/retailers scamming people. This is no different than someone trying to sell a used code to an unsuspecting sucker.

I understand what you're saying, but I think it's a tad early to be claiming that. There are a bunch of these things for sale all over the place, just as they were before the announcement.
And, up until... when, yesterday(?) they still provided a service.
Do you think that all of those merchants know that the game has been canceled? No way.

Just a mess I hadn't thought about.

When we bought that CoV box at the local EB Games we actually told the sales-guy that CoH was shutting down and it was a last ditch attempt to upgrade to VIP. He had no clue about it til we told him.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the original CoV box code would equal a CoH box code. It has been that way since NCsoft took over the game.

However, I'm not surprised to find out the problems entering the codes for other editions after the refund announcement.

I told the staff at Futureshop that it had happened. Thankfully all the boxes were removed from the shelves. Sadly the same can't be said of their online store.

I understand what you are saying as well, but if the seller is paying enough attention to what's going on with CoH to slash their prices 50% and more after the announcement yesterday then they can't claim ignorance.

Out of curiosity I was checking the prices on Amazon every day since the beginning of Sept because up till the most recent announcement I'd been recommending buying old unopened copies to get VIP status, and some of those sellers are paying attention to what's happening here. I've seen up to a 77% reduction in price on some while others remain the same.

Got hit with this as well. I ordered the product several days before the announcement but it didn't get to me until last Saturday. I've submitted a support ticket but it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere, just me butting heads with the GM.

While I can't imagine (ok so I Can...) they'd put forth the effort to shutdown code upgrades that don't directly affect billing, it would be nice that if they did decide to cut off that avenue to atleast post to that effect.

The shipment's being delayed due to the other item in the order (apparantly P!nk's new DLX album wasn't simul release from wherever this is coming from), but I should see my AE box next week. That part of the order was only $8 and I know that it's not one I've purchased so we'll see. If I'm disappointed, then atleast I'll have good music/videos to balance it out! ^.^

Yeah, I was unpleasantly surprised when they closed this loophole. It would have been much nicer had they left it.

CoH is rather pointless at the moment for me, as basically all my characters use something VIP and are locked even if I would unlock the slot. Rogues, Vigilantes, MasterMinds, Widows, VIP powersets, etc...

I haven't heard anything on my support request, except an acknowledgement that they received it.

Are you bumping it? Tickets are closed after 3 days of inactivity, and with the amount of support traffic they are undoubtedly getting, I suspect any ticket bumped up from Tier 1 support could have more than a 3 day wait before anyone even looks at it.

Even reading the recent "Players Can't regain VIP" I don't know if that means I can't click that link and Pay for VIP or if ALL codes are disabled, period. I haven't seen a Red Name response to that effect. I'd only be out $8.50 if that's the case and I'm prepared for it, but if there was solid 100% verification that it's absolutely blocked on all avenues, then I do actually have time to cancel the order.

Well, my name is not in red, but yeah... That is what it is saying and that is what has been said.
Even in the twitch tv talk today, I asked Hit Streak and he said the ability to become VIP has been completely shut down and its out of his hands, unfortunately (he did say he wished he could help people become VIP, but it's out of his hands).

We can only hope that this isn't really the end, mate.
Well... hope and do anything that comes up that lets us help too.

hahaha, I checked AMZ last nite after post and wasn't shipped. Read this, checked AMZ, listed as shipped. :-p Oh well, maybe my 'rare' luck will work in a positive direction this time.

Damn. I only spent $12 for the one I just got. Was hoping to help a buddy over seas get his account active again. He started in the states, so he needed a states code. We just tried it and it failed with the 'code expired' message.

Bummer.
