I have been playing this game since early beta. I was on the boards for years before that.

I still remember them trying to adjust the spawn rate in Atlas park so that at one point there was a Hellion invasion... I mean they were every where.

I remember the Tram going only to the next station. I remember the level cap being 40.

I remember the Rikti invasion at the end of Beta.

I remember teleporting for the first time...and then learning to use the momentum (you did not lose it between port at the time)

I remember getting hover and "Flying" for the first time

Well I have been around the game (not much of a poster so not really on the boards ) since the begining and I will be there till the end .

And then I will be looking for CoH 2 or whatever it gets to be called. Cause we will need it.

Remember that first Rikti invasion with the giant eyeballs that could two-shot you even if they were grey? The hot new meeting place became the hospital.

And I also remember Steel Canyon when they first tried adding crazy whirlwind powers to the bosses there.....

Yeah, I'm staying right til the end, too.

Before the park hydras had ranged attacks or -fly... (I think? My memory IS vague )... before during... so many good times.

I still haven't ever been able to go back to King Lobster since he lost his 12+ fire imps. Petty, I know, but it ruined all my existing controllers. But I *STILL* loved the game. I just found other ATs to love. And I understand why they did it. I understood it then. But I still miss it .

I miss being able to make nude characters, if only because my wife loved it so much she would play CoH with me just to run around on her naked characters.

I don't miss hovering across the Hollows .

I remember the mito scrambles.

... the first time Babbage jumped me (HOLY $%%!).

... thinking that a ff/elec defender would be a good damage dealer.

... having to explain to people over and over and over again that you didn't need an empath to do ANYTHING - and that many of the other buff/debuff sets were preferable to empaths (for me at least).

... leveling controllers of every type with pets up to 32 pre-containment, much of it solo.

... remember not enough, but so much.

I've been here since the email inviting me to a Closed NDA Beta-Test. Jumping Jacks for XP. Hiding under the courthouse. the bar at the docks, the Rikti Monkey Invasions, and all the fun stuff.

I'll be here till the infamous LOST CONNECTION hits me.

I'll be logged on for the final moments - I wonder if server population at that moment will be unusually high? It'd be kinda funny if it's as laggy as the end of beta event was.

Come to think of it, there should be some crazy event to wipe out Paragon - a final invasion of Rikti, Nemesis, Rularuu, etc, that just keeps coming, and maybe bombs the hospitals at some point, so people can't respawn, until all player characters are dead. Might be kinda sad, but hey, it's gonna be sad no matter what... we might as well go down swinging!

Very true. I plan to be logged on when the shutdown happens. On both my accounts... hell make that 4 -- I'll bring the 2 freems too. They're going to have to /kick me by force.

Wow, i am sad. I started back right before CoV launched and had been a full time sub till a few months ago. I had finally decided i needed a break. Well imagine my surprise when i come back from my hiatus and some bear dude and Psylock are on the launch screen and i find out its all ending in November. This was my first (and for 6 plus years my only) MMO. I will be spending some quality time with 3 or 4 of my most favorite toons and will defiantly be flying high in the skies of Atlas when the end comes.

I've always said that I will stand Defiant (plug!) until the end. That when the final hour comes, I will stand on the beach in Cimerora as the last few waves lap into the shore at my feet.
...in my mind's eye, I'm alone on that beach. But something tells me I'll be touched by the number of people I find waiting there with me.

I remember having to get hover before flight and going to the top of the Atlas statue
I remember trying to land on the blimp
I remember earning my first cape
I remember Go.Hunt.Kill Skuls
I remember my first Hami raid
I remember City of Heroes

I remember when you couldn't attack a fleeing enemy and you had to run in front of him to hit. My first scrapper (Broad Sword/Regeneration) took "Taunt" just to try to bring them back. Ugh.

Though I'm scoping out some replacement hobbies (which will be dropped if CoH can be saved), I'll be here at the disconnect too. I love every day I've spent playing these last eight years and five months.
