Will something be done? Of course...not.
As far as NCSoft is concerned this game, and community, are dead to it.

I see no real reason not to allow everyone VIP status, or even access to all costume and power sets since we can't buy points anymore.

AFAIK all accounts were flagged on Friday to remain what they were at the time of the announcement. For example if you were VIP on Friday and your sub was due today...you will be VIP (without having to pay) until November 30th. So if you were a free/premium player on Friday...you will continue to be that until November 30th.
There is no way to upgrade your account as NCSoft is no longer accepting payments from players effective Friday 8/31/2012...all billing has ceased.

Because I happen to be on the first break I've taken from the game when this happens. Another kick in the teeth from NCSoft. I will never purchase a product of theirs again.

i bought something with paragon points this last weekend. steampunk pack. i was between subscriptions when the ***** went down, too.

As far as I understand it, you can spend the PPoints you have, but you cannot purchase more.
As for the forums, Zwill opened up the ability to send PMs for everyone. Rather than allow all Aech-Eee-double-Ell to break loose, it seems like a reasonable compromise.

I checked it both on the character select screen and after loading a character. Also, I tried on Victory--not that should mean anything, but who knows if a connection from your server to the market got borked? :/

The market is definitely NOT offline. I bought items on my Premium account just before posting this.
I had bought some things this weekend on my VIP account as well.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
