Fix Frostwork in ICE

Now that we have the absorb mechanic, make frostwork a +absorb power instead of a +HP. I'm not sure what the conversion of +HP to +absorb should be, but it would be better than it is now. Instead of just capping HP of most toons on just an SO, it would be meaningful to more people. The absorb mechanic is nice in Nature. It can halt a death on the spot. Even if you have 3 HP left, it will add absorb on top of that. It allows someone to get a proper heal off, or pop a green, purple or whatever else. Frostwork would still be kinda situational, but I think it would get more use as an absorb. Just my thoughts, since this team seems to be all about quality of life and improving the game and power mechanics as a whole. With the work done to Gravity and the outstanding job on Nature and Water Blast, I know they are thinking, so I am putting my vote in for Frostwork.

I don't see there's really much need to buff Cold. Frostwork may not be the greatest power in the set, but it has its uses and it's thematically tied to Hoarfrost in Ice Armor. As I see it, Cold already beats the crap out of FF as far as team support goes, it really doesn't need any more help at that.

My story arcs: #2370- Noah Reborn, #18672- The Clockwork War, #31490- Easy Money

Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." What does that make an MMO?

I agree with the OP.

Cold is already strong, but Frostwork is better delivered as an absorb power.

If there are balance concerns regarding Frostwork as an absorb power, then obviously that can be addressed by not making Frostwork uber powerful ... right?

For that matter, Hoarfrost could also be rendered as an absorb power, if desired.

EDIT: And the solution for Force Field is to fix Force Field.

No thank you. I like having the extra regeneration that I get from having higher health. At least on a tank.

What if it delivered its +health as a +health up to the cap and a +absorb for the remaining balance? Maybe the values should be adusted so it's not completely overpowered.

I don't recall Frostwork not working, to need a fix.

Also, as one of the top sets, I'm not so sure I agree it needs it.

It doesn't need a fix, I just got stuck with the title once I typed it. I think it does need a change. Ice is in no way broken, but due to the new absorb mechanic, frostwork could get a change.

I would rather see Frostwork become +Absorb.

There are a great many ATs that can sit at their HP cap at all times, and as we have no way of knowing an ally's actual HP total, we have no way of knowing if a +HP power would be completely wasted on them.

Surely the caps are there for a reason. I can't see the justification for giving this power a loophole to work around the cap, especially in a set which has so many other varied buffs and debuffs.

It's the same issue as if you were to cast a sonic sheild on someone at the res cap or a fulcrum shift on someone at the damage cap etc. The powers are designed to buff you to a max level and not beyond it.

Ice is so far down the list of sets that need a buff, I hope they don't waste time on this.

This is not the worst idea I have seen. In fact, I like it. It makes sense.

Frostwork regularly does nothing for me on my support ATs, as I usually sit at (or close to) my HP cap due to accolades and set bonuses. I wouldn't mind seeing it converted to absorb so that the power isn't wasted.

Not Hoarfrost, though. At least, not the tanks version. They have a higher HP cap that the +HP was designed to work with. They don't need it.

It does nothing for you personally on any character you have it on, it's an ally-only power.

Could just provide an absorb with a small/moderate regen on top to offset any that +HP would no longer be providing.

I suppose it was worded a bit wonky, but what I meant was that when playing support ATs, having Frostwork on me does little for me. As in, having someone cast it on me.

Not that it really matters now, given the news.
