Thinking of Gravity/Time

I'm thinking of rolling a new troller up. I'm leaning towards gravity/time for a concept build of sorts and was wondering how they blend, is there synergy between the 2 sets? Any thoughts on the pairing would be most helpful.

Thanks

Time has several control tools to cover Gravity's lack there of. Tho Singularity may fling mobs out of your Hold Patch. Singularity won't benefit from the heals but I do believe he benefits from the +DEF power, and the -to hit aura on enemies which should make him even more of a force. Add that he does really good damage, which will be improved with the -RES and -Regen in time.

Chrono Shift will help with recharge to bring up your AOE hold and Stun more frequently. Wormholing mobs into the distortion field should be good times.

Give it a go!

Concept usually trumps just about everything else. So if you have a concept you like, try it.

My experience with Gravity wasn't very good for a long time. I tried several combos, but Gravity's lack of AoE control in low levels made it hard to continue. The other control sets have some kind of AoE control or protection by level 12, but not Gravity. I finally paired Gravity with Storm, and that worked thanks to the combo of Freezing Rain and Crushing Field with no knockdown protection. Add in Hurricane for personal protection and the added damage from Tornado and Lightning Storm, and it was a really fun combo, mostly solo.

Of course, that was long before the new secondaries. To me the question is whether a secondary will work well with Gravity while leveling up depends on whether that secondary can somehow make up for Gravity's lack of Aoe control in the low levels. I can see Grav/Dark working since Crushing Field+Darkest Night would provide some decent protection. Time has Distortion Field to provide a little bit of soft control, but other than that, not much AoE in low levels. The Recharge with Crushing Field will slow down foes' attack rate, but whether that's enough is up to you.

Once you get to level 32 and Singy, then Gravity becomes much, much better. Singy makes more of a difference to Gravity than any other pet makes to its primary (in my opinion). The way I play Gravity, Singy becomes my Phantom Army, drawing aggro while I take down foes one at a time. The last three powers in Time will be a huge help, but they won't add more types of damage the way the last two powers in Storm do.

Grav/Dark should be pretty good. I've considered rolling up a Grav/TA, as those powersets will probably go well together, but what I'd really like is a Grav/Traps.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

Grav/Cold could work, as snowstorm would give you a lot of benefit as well...you also get ice shields which would make singy a force to be reckoned with (I think they will buff singy) and potent debuffs from Sleet and Benumb. Plus heat loss is just a great power period...

I might have to roll one of those to try it out.

I made a grav/time shortly after gravity got a good buff.

The new distortion field and the crushing damage are certainly fun on a controller. So it's better than what gravity was before.

However, I really couldn't enjoy it for too long. Gravity is still a bit lackluster as a controller (perhaps better on a dom?). Time is a favorite of many, but it seems rather secondary to kin.

Grav/Time is a great combo. Got mine to 50 last week. Time covers gravity's reduced control options and gravity brings extra ST damage to table. You've got buffs, debuffs, heals, controls, damage and a pet.

Superb mix.

Please buff Ice Control.

It seems like, the longer I play this game, the more fun controllers get.

In my case, one of my first characters to actually hit 50 was a Plants/TA controller (and given that I've been playing this game off and on since launch, you can see where I might have a thing about alting around too much to get any real leveling done), who still has an amazing capacity to manipulate and dominate the area around him.

My second controller to hit 50 was my Ill/Rad, who has slain many giants and who is my favorite for running Blueside SSAs. When I think of my strongest blueside toons, he's at the top of the list.

My third controller to hit 50 was a Fire/Dark, which spends most of its time in an ever-expanding cloud of pain right in the middle of mobs while his pets dance merrily about the chaos. It's a great character for soloing, and has pulled his SG's butts out of the fire on many occasions with a well-placed Howling Twilight, followed up by Flashfire to mez even bosses, then Fire Cages (for damage and control), THEN Bonfire (for damage and to bounce anything which avoided being mezzed), and finally tossing around team buffs, heals, and fireballs while Hot Feet also ticks away at enemy health.

And now I'm leveling a Gravity/Time controller, which I'm planning to have a lot of fun with. Wormhole enemies into a Distortion Field which has a +chance to Hold Proc in it? Check. Time's Juncture and Defense powers to be near the softcap? Check. Power Boost (from Force Mastery, so I can also snag a res toggle to bolster protection and increase the effectiveness of Foresight) paired with Levitate for crazy fun with mobs outdoors? Checkity check check. Double ST holds? You betcha. Added ToHit from Foresight and IO ACC bonuses actually making the AoE Immobilize a useful power and then slotting the Gravitational Anchor +Chance to Hold set into it (And maybe a few damage procs while I'm at it)? Check. Helpful mezzing pet? Check.

Damage? Um...Sorta? My planned build will have very little AoE damage. I'll mostly be relying on Single-Target attacks, which can WORK, but it'll take longer.

My planned Grav/Time is a controller that is heavy on proc holds, stuns, and survival. It'll need a lot of recharge, some defense buffing, and patience until you hit 38 and Chrono Shift starts to take the edge off of your endurance usage. When it all comes together, though, it should be a lot of fun to play with!

Too many alts to list.
