Replacing an APP power with a self-rez = violating the cottage rule. Adding a self-rez without removing a power is ok.

If it would be fine for Blasters to have mez protection without Clarion, that would be nice, but I feel like that won't happen anytime soon, so maybe a self-rez power would be the next best thing.
How would replacing a power with mez protection break the rule but replacing a power with a rez not?
That said Rise of the Phoenix is one of the coolest rezzes, and having something like that added into some APPs would be nice.
Different rules. Either option would break the cottage rule but the mez protection power would also break the "Blasters don't get useful mez protection" rule.
On topic, I would say it isn't necessary. The Presence pool is getting a self-rez in I24 so Blasters will be able to get access to a self rez there if they want.

As for my personal opinion, there's no question that blaster pools in general could be much better, but I think a change as large as replacing powers in something that's live should be seriously considered. Though I'm not automatically opposed to it since ancillary pools can be respecced.

The devs have shown that It is fine for blasters to have mez protection. If not other ATs would not have grantable mez protection and clarion would not be selectable by blasters. The issue of course is that the mez protection is needed by Free players and premium players and it is needed 40 levels and two Incarnate tiers before you can get it with Clarion and it is needed solo and on small teams when you don't have access to team buffs or enough variety of team buffs on those small teams.

No, they have shown us nothing of the sort. MC doesn't get mez protection, it gets a mez break. On a five minute timer.
I'm not disagreeing about the need for mez protection, but the devs have shown no intent to give it.
Five minutes? I hope they bring that down some. Three minutes sounds about perfect to me.
The specifics were 480 to 600 seconds, actually. So somewhere between eight to ten minutes.
