Maybe someone was so eager for more of your stories that they hacked your account and paid your sub in an attempt to convince you to play more? :P

I actually checked my game account on the website to make sure I didn't resub by accident. Nope, it lists it as 'free', with no subscription. Odd.
At times the forum software and the account system don't sync so it sets you as VIP. It's generally a temporary thing.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Four+ hours later from your first post, and you're still flagged VIP. Maybe they just want more rude tells from ya.

Eh, I'm definitely not VIP anymore and yet there will be times that I'll have one tab with a thread that says I'm not and another that says I am. Who knows.

It happened to me CONSTANTLY (read: multiple times on a daily basis) the last time I was f2p. I was able to find out pretty much everything I wanted to know from the beta forums without actually having legit access to them. I'm sure it was the same for others as well. These forums have always been wonky, it's nothing really new, nor something I'd really worry about.
They were working on the authentication system at NCSoft again yesterday.
So I'm betting forum accounts probably all defaulted to VIP just to make sure nobody lost access to anything.

I had access to Beta forums, PMs, etc. Still do as of this posting, and my name was appearing gold as if I were VIP. Don't know what the deal is, but this has happened before. It usually goes away pretty fast, but it's been going on for an hour or so now.
