Hey all,

So iv been back for 3 weeks from a year break, and i already have another tank at 50. But now im stuck, i have no idea what i would like to make now.. I have 6 Tanks, 2 Brutes, 3 controllers, 2 scrappers, 1 corr at 50. As you can see my playstyle is melee, and i love being in heat of the battle, but im holding off on tanks til Bio Armor, so no more Tanks.. Scrappers are welcome, brutes also... Not a big fan of squishies but i guess i will be willing to try

Fire/SS, Fire/Fire, Fire/DM, Invul/Fire, Ele/Stone, Ice/Ele - TANKERS
Fire/Shield, SS/Fire - BRUTES
Earth/Cold, Ele/Rad, Fire/Kin - TROLLERS
Kat/SR, DM/DA - SCRAPPS
Arch/TA - CORR

Those are my characters at 50, hoping that helps with what i need. All im asking is just what people think of there favourite 50s, tell me stories or something, anything to make me play that char. IV also been in Heroes for 5 years now..

Try Stalkers, they have been quite dramatically improved over the last little while!

They have a similar style of play to Scrappers but with a few interesting mechanics. Assassins Strike has been buffed be used mid combat (a 1 second animation) with a stacking +crit% chance based off other attacks. With the Stalker IO you can hide mid combat just by hiting other people.

They are quite reasonably survivable (remarkably similar to a scrapper), have great single target damage and a stacking +crit% chance with team size.

I played my spines/ice scrapper from 0-50 in next to no time because I simply loved the gameplay.

Mastermind. You gotta try it. My very first 50 was my Ninja/Time, and he's still my main. Anything with /Time or /Dark especially. Can tank with over 5000 health, easily incarnate capped defenses, control, buffs, debuffs. Ninjas aren't the best choice for /Time, but /Time is probably the best choice for Ninjas. Demons or Bots would be much better, but I like my suicidal razor blades.

Though there can be running problems due to crappy AI. /Time especially murders run speed to counteract this. With x8 and tight quarters, you'll still likely attract more than one group. Once when I was in the mid 40's I was in an arachnos base fighting arachnos, started fighting, agro'd the next group, then the next, then on and on till the whole floor was dead and there were still things trailing from the first group, unable to keep up with the quickly evaporating enemies.

Nin/Time is still my big game hunter, having killed everything from Kraken to Lusca.

Great fun, very strong.

No other AT can make their powers dance

Ok thank you, and Spines/Ice does sound nice actually.

I would have no idea how to slot a Stalker or even a Mastermind...

Well, you figured out how to slot brutes and tankers. No harder to learn how to slot masterminds and stalkers.

I've said it many times before for others that are addicted to melee: you really ought to give a dominator a full honest try and go nuts with it.

Masterminds are another way to go.

Have been thinking about what to recommend, but realized I didn't understand your point of reference. What is the reason you like melee AT's more than other AT's?

1) you like playing in close proximity (more action, probably more aggressive playstyle)

2) you prefer an AT with armor (harder to kill)

3) have no clue, but I bet there's a 3rd reason people might prefer melee

Don't have to worry about being mezzed every .2 seconds after level 40?

The change of pace that you seek is a MFing Warshade. Just ask Dechs

It is true that nothing plays quite like a MFing Warshade.

I KNEW there was a #3, thank you!

OK, since stalkers, dominators and MF Warshades have already been mentioned, if you like melee fighting and mezz protection, you also could try either of the VEATS. They have high defense and mezz protection, as well as good team defenses. Both VEATS have a ranged version OR a melee version available. Night Widows are melee, and are known pylon fighters, for example.

Claws/electric armor brutes (and scrappers) have been very, very popular. I haven't tried it myself because I have several claws already, but claws is an enormous amount of fun. Really fast, quick-recharging, high DPS attacks.

Though technically not melee, or armored, I've been having a lot of fun on a fire/traps corruptor lately. With the forcefield generator that covers you (and teammates who aren't too far away) it's easy to hit the softcap, and you get it at level 6 or something - getting mezzed has never been a problem. Playstyle favors being up in the thick of things, even though the attacks are ranged (hey, 2 feet is a "range" isn't it?). High damage due to fire blasts, with nice debuffs, it's another pylon-fighting powerset.

Kinda like what happens when you have permadom.

Pylons, baf doors, av's and gm's, solo itf's... Oh, and regular content as well...

i would suggest a Bane or a widow if you like melee, those are both great
