I felt a bit unoriginal running on a team in Night Ward the other day. On a team of 6 Blasters, 1 Corruptor and 1 Tanker, there were 3 other Proton Volleys going off beside my own!
what's up with that?!

Fire Blast: The new Blaster set of THB. As soon as i24 comes out.
This was on Virtue.
It's also possible you just have yet to discover Radiation Blast, the new awesomer set.

My 3rd 50 was a Rad/MM blaster with S/L soft capped and perma-Hasten + perma-Drain Psyche. It was the first alt I had that Really felt Super.
While the -Def is not always that effective it does mean you can work the -Resist Achilles Heel and Fury of the Gladiator procs into the build in multiple places if you wish.
I am really looking forward to a respec of this toon after the I 24 changes and with the -KB.
Cosmic Burst and Psychic Shockwave give you a stacking Stun combo, and since I use the Fighting Pool to help get softcap I could rework the enhanced Boxing for a 3 stun ST chain. Gonna be fun.

To reply to the OP.....
My Rad/Rad def is out and playing about all the time.
My Rad/Devices blaster is semi-retired, but still sees some play.
I'd have more Rads, as I I like the set mostly, except
1) I try not to play the same sets over and over.
2) I don't dig the KB cone.
3) It's very Radioactive-y, and thus isn't as flexible as I like for other themes.
But, for all that, it's still a nice set, and I quite enjoy it on the 2 alts of mine that have at. I'd play my blaster more, but I just don't play blasters much. That will likely change next issue. I'll likely be playing him a lot all of a sudden. My Rad/Rad is almost a main in terms of playing time, and since she's already got the nuke, once it goes crashlesss, I'll prolly have to play her even more.
