Missing animations, ghost doors, and teleporting baddies

Hi all. I am having some issues with CoH and I've tried a multitude of things and I can't seem to fix it. I'm hoping you guys can help.

The problem just started occurring this week. The game starts "Missing" things here and there. Like I can click on a door and it won't open but I can go through it. Attack that I make with characters end up missing certain parts of their animation (Like Katana's Soaring dragon: I pull out the weapon but the effect just happens. He never uses it to strike the enemy). Enemies seem to "Super speed" around, or move without moving their legs, and will even pause in knock up/ back animations. Finally powers sometimes don't show they are activated sometimes. Like you click a toggle and it shows it queued up but that never changes from the "Ready" look to the little spirit thing that spins around it when active.

I'm thinking bad lag? However nothing happened or changed this past week on my end. I also don't see it in anything else I play. I have reduced my graphics to recommended and even uninstalled/ reinstalled CoH. No change. Plus I only really see this in missions and almost never in the game world. Even when other players are present. Thoughts?

Well sometimes the engine gliches and you get doors that don't trigger the animation but now that the server thinks they opened you (or critters) can pass. The other examples are likely example of dropped or retransmitted packets and the dashing about is the client simply trying to animate the sudden change of the enemies position.

Your trace shows a bit of lost packets so try turning on the netgraph (/netgraph 1) and see if you are getting yellow/red spikes or a strip of a thick green bar with over 1000ms ping rates when the animations act up.

If I do and I get the red/ yellow bars, is there a fix for it?

Not if packet loss is happening upstream from you. If you look at your trace you can see a lot of packet loss within the various comcast hops (hops 3 -7).

For me, most of time I don't have problems but on occasions, not often, my netgraph gets spiky for no apparent reason. It's usually only for a few minutes but if it isn't I simply chalk it up to the universe telling me to go do something else.

well, this is the netgraph

Looks like you were right. No way to fix this at all? Or at least reduce it? Never had it this bad before and not sure why it got this bad now.

Quick point out, this isn't lasting minutes but hours and on consistant days. Been happening for 4 days now.

There is a few things u can try but there is no guarantee that any of these steps will solve it because we cant identify the reason of the Packet Loss between u and the CoX Servers as Father XMas already said.

Now things that can be not working properly:

If u using W-Lan:

W-Lan Adapter, W-Lan Optimizing Service of Windows 7, W-Lan Access Point of your Router. Also there can be intereference from other W-Lan User that use the same Channel nearby, u could change the channel,...

If using Cable-Connection:
Network-Card or -Port of Computer could have gone bad (check it with a diff Comp?)
Network Cable between Router and Comp can have gone bad (replace it?)
Router can have gone bad (replace it/reset it?).

Those are only the things u can do on your own although some does cost money and as said before no guarantee of solving.....

Then the Problem could be the provider of ur Internet Access and his routing tables.... u could call their support but better dont have high hopes.

Same goes for Support calling of CoX, they will have u go through all possible loops.

And what i noticed sometimes when they prepare an update, i get the red/yellow spikes all of a sudden too, mostly one/a few days before a new patch to CoX/AION etc is coming out,.... and since they do big maintenance of NCSoft Account System these days (see post in Announcement Section), maybe u got the bad spot in line.

Hope it does the magic fix for u, as it mostly did for me without changing anything a few days later all was back for normal.

Greetings
SuggestorK

I have had problems like this on occasion, I contacted my ISP and guess what, they FIXED it.
I used PingPlotter and let it run for a few hours, forwarded the info to my ISP, and insisted on having it escalated when the current support person couldn't handle it. It was fixed by routing me around the blackholers, or, the blackholers were fixed.
So at least some ISP's will take consumer complaints seriously and will work to fix things. Give it a shot.

So what is the destination server for CoH? Or are you using the CoH website?

All the IP Addresses can be found at Paragon Wiki, here's the link. (you need to click on the [show] on the far right to see them)

Try these:
206.127.144.229
206.127.144.81
206.127.152.19
216.107.240.141
64.25.36.22
64.25.36.4
64.25.34.133
64.25.34.134

You will get the message "Destination Address Unreachable" because the servers don't respond to pings, so that's normal.
Good luck.
