Really, it's that simple for most people.
The world is not static. i'm sorry, but it's true. And by "not static" i mean the world can and will change in small ways depending on assorted decisions by different people. Honestly your complaints on the matter sound rather neurotically obsessive to me since i can't think of a single lucid reason to demand something that is not especially tied to any specific time always be done at the same time every week forever just because it was done at that time initially.

Did you ever stop to consider that at that time there were other things being worked on that required people to work longer than their normal workday so as long as someone was going to be in the office anyway they chose to update the store interface early as an act of kindness to the players.

Agge is spot-on as usual. This fact was explicitly stated by Jesse (Ghost Falcon) at the first Pummit.

I didn't think this would still be going, but this is my point.

When is it a good idea to plan something that affects the customer base of any company where a single member of staff has to be awake at midnight to do something from home?

Not only does it mean that staff member has to get overtime or work for free, but it leaves a single point of failure and was 100% guaranteed to have to change at some point. A good decision is one that doesn't require reversing because of such a forseeable reason. And people that can't make good decision shouldn't be making decisions that directly affect customers no matter how insignificant that effect may be.

I accept this is a very insignificant thing, but I have never said otherwise (And again I don't care when this is done since I don't use the market, I just felt like making a point which people for some reason disagreed with). But you people sound like the sun shines out of the dev's collective holes and this wasn't a mistake but part of a genius masterplan. I have serious issues with people who don't think it is worth pointing out faults, because if nobody mentions a poor decision then the people making the decisions will never learn (And pointing out an insignificant but poor decision is much better than waiting until this person makes a large mess of something).

Except it was a matter of Ghost Falcon doing it one way, and Alpha Wolf doing it a different way. Are you seriously saying that when you go to a restaurant, things aren't a little different when Joe is the host vs. when Jane is the hostess? Seriously, different people do the same things differently. Ghost Falcon was up at midnight anyway, so he figured "hey, I'll do the Tuesday market updates from home", vs. Alpha Wolf (who may or may not be up at midnight for whatever reasons) who decided "I'll do it when I get to the office".

They didn't get anything wrong. It probably went something like this:

High Up Big Schmuck: "To save coding time and money, we'll have a warm body flip the switch. Market releases happen on Tuesday, someone needs to turn them on."
Ghost Falcon: "Well, I can flip the switch from home before bed, nbd."
...time passes...
Ghost Falcon: "I'm moving to this other project, so Alpha Wolf is going to take over."
Alpha Wolf: "I go to bed at 10pm, so can I flip the switch when I get in to the office?"
High Up Big Schmuck: "Don't care, as long as it happens on Tuesday."
Most of the playerbase: "Hurray, it still happens on Tuesday!"

Something which affect the customers should never get a 'don't care' no matter how small.

That is all I am saying. And no Schismatrix I am not lying (Or getting worked up, which I keep having to stress), but there are very few threads about things I really care about that people are replying to

In the restaurant analogy if one chef closes at 10 and the other at 11 that will annoy some people, so the owner should have had the sense not to employ 2 chefs with different schedules. If doesn't matter if the closing time is 10 or 11, but having it bounce around on the whim of whoever happens to turn up that day is not good business.

I totally get why it has changed, all I am saying is that the very idea of letting someone do it in their spare time was stupid in the first place. If a warm body was needed what were they on to decide to do it out of hours?

The main idea when they picked Tuesday for the sales was to have the sales start in the morning, pretty much first thing when they were in the office.

While we had Ghost Falcon doing them, we got the bonus of them starting about 8 hours earlier.
