So yeah this is a huge challenge for me and lemme tell you why LOL!
1. I am not used to having a budget. If I want to spend 500,000 prestige in a room I do LOL! I have never made a room and thought "ooh I gotta budget this or else I will be out of prestige..."
2. The items.. Oy! I freely admit I am used to designing the way I like to design; big cathedral rooms in arcane....yeah that is NOT gonna happen. I loathe using tech items...stares at items in room... GRRRR!
3. Most of the time I am designing a room that already has a theme; medical bay (granted I may take that and make it a naturist medical bay, but it is a medical bay). So the hard part for me was coming up with a THEME for my room...and hoping that theme comes across to the judges lol. And now that I have a theme there are some items I stare at and go "Hmmm how the @#$% am I going to fit THAT in my theme."
4. Time. I can take 3-4 weeks to do ONE room and that is with me having free reign over the room, items, and prestige 
Keeping my fingers crossed I make it by the deadline.... So yes I definitely view this as a CHALLENGE

I got the reminder email about it being one week to go. I now have a query:
Basically I moved some of the items into the doorway room to keep them out the way while I sorted out the bits in the 3x3. As long as I move the items back in; this wouldn't count as a break would it?

I just wanted to take this time to thank PERC for hosting this event.
Unfortunately due to real life issues/time constraints I will not be able to complete my base. Hopefully the next event will be something I can join/complete, but work this week is not going to allow me any time to actually complete my base. So I respectfully/officially am withdrawing from this competition 
Good luck to those still continuing on in this project. I can't wait to see pics of the winning designs.
Not that it matters now; since I am withdrawing... but what I had planned was a day spa/health club with a swimming pool, tanning beds, massage beds, and an outdoor area for people to relax under the trees.
Thank you PERC again for doing this and for selecting me as one of the designers; hopefully with the next project I will be able to actually complete it...and not disappoint you.

I finished my disaster base entry and what started out as a goofy idea, turned out to be my favorite project so far.
Best of luck to all the other contestants. Sorry to see you go Burnt Toast. I would have liked to have seen that spa centre.

I suppose I could rebuild it in one of my own bases if the PERC council wanted to use it for some sort of promotional purposes, etc.

Aww that's too bad Burnt & ROFL I can relate to being more of an Arcane builder myself & was going, HTH am I going to USE all this TECH stuffs!?!?! ROFL
But then I got hit with some inspirations (next time please dun throw the realy BIG ones, they hurt! lol) 
& the hardest part I found was the budget! Oh & giving a bit of a description in the MotD & SG Description, lol (had to start in former then finish in later). Hope no one is taking a drink when they read the info while judging, I will NOT be responcible for any fried keyboards or moniters needing a good cleaning! 
Good luck to ma fellow competators, this should prover rather . . . interesting! Hope no one had to resort to the headdesk stress/ mental block reduction strategy . . . tooo much!

What a great challenge!! Good luck to all the competitors, and HUGE thanks to PERC for putting together another fantastic base challenge. I am really looking forward to seeing what everyone put together.
The challenge was heaps of fun. I used stuff I never even knew existed

I too want to say a huge THANK YOU to MP and the PERC members for doing this for us, and all the hard work that went into it. All the members of the Baser Community that I have spoken with really appreciate the time and effort you guys put into hosting things like this for us.
I also want to take this chance to tell some of the people in the contest that we don't normally talk to, to please join the BaseBuildersInc. (period included in the name) chat channel in game. We want to get to know you!
Many of us Base Builders, from those just starting out to old time vets, chat there nightly, and swap tips, tours, and the occasional silly story or joke. It is a great place to arrange tours of other Baser's works for inspiration, or to find someone wanting to visit your latest creation.
The channel members are also very helpful and informative, so if you ever have any questions on how to do something, or just want an idea or two for your next room, it is a great place to go.
Several of us in the channel are planning to arrange tours of each other's contest bases, once the contest is over of course, so please, anyone in the contest, or anyone reading this that isn't but would like to take a tour or just chat base stuff, please join the channel and say "Hello!"

Each and every one of you surprised and amazed us with your skills, creativity, and commitment to your design. This was certainly not an easy contest and it was a true pleasure to see all of the bases come to life!
Just as a reminder, the base builders were given a base with an entryway and one 3 by 3 room. They had 200 random items of "wreckage" that had to be used to complete the base and 50k in prestige as "disaster relief funds." Bases were judged based on creativity, use of the "wreckage," cohesion/theme, difficulty, and overall aesthetics.
