Will PVP ever come back?
Even I, who avoid pvp like it's a plague now, actually PVPed back before issue 12 and even enjoyed it some as I wasn't completely horrible at it(unlike now).
I still mostly avoided it though.
It wouldn't "come back" as far as popularity even if the developers wanted to bring it back and actually could bring it back.
Maybe, "when pigs fly"?
I pvp'd for quite some time before and after Issue 13. Altogether I would say I actively pvp'd for about 3.5-4 years. I enjoyed the mechanics before i13 and after.
Some of my best pvp memories were actually doing base raids, 8v8 arena events, and super teams of various "not popular" ATs (storm defenders).
Not going to get into a "discussion" about why I left, but it had nothing to do with the mechanics more so the "community." I do not view i13 as cutting the nose off to spite the face unlike some (most) pvpers. The players I pvpd with on Freedom learned to adapt...and use the changes of i13.
Or join a team and you can get those (and all other content not in Orob) as well.

Who actually runs Praetoria and doesn't solo to get every story arc they want rather than just speed through?
Finding somebody who is after the arcs that starts there is easier because finding somebody that starts there, period, is hard, but it's still not a busy place.
I'm actually one of the people who runs characters through there rather often, but I don't go for every arc and solo. I also am "trying to cut back" as my altitis is out of control.

This is cute coming from you, Bud.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Once again, any decent PvPer before I13 was perfectly capable of adapting and using the I13 changes to their benefit. The people who were the best at PvP before I13 dropped were, and still are, the best at PvP under the new ruleset. Just because someone is capable of adapting and adjusting doesn't mean they like doing it - if I'm used to driving a Ferrari and all of a sudden I'm given a Ford Focus, of course I can still drive it, it's just nowhere near as fun. People left after I13 not because they were incapable of adapting, but because they'd rather not continue playing a game that no longer provided the speed and variety they were looking for.

Well, I get to reset the clock. Went in to BB tonight with a little level 19 tank and just messed around (mission/shivan/stealth.) Noticed two other people - one kept changing, so I thought it was a farm.
Nope. Family that hops in and fights each others characters... no build worries, no nothing but goofing around and having fun.
I've missed that.
I find most discussions about pvp to be pointless as nothing big will happen to pvp. The last major thing to happen to pvp was over 3 years ago...and people still complain about it like it was last week. I like pre Issue 13 pvp..and post Issue 13 pvp. They both have/had severe flaws, but I learned to work around those flaws to do what I enjoyed with pvp. That is what I meant about adapting... Comparing the old pvp to a Ferrari is laughable btw I would say you had a Ford Focus and now you have a Focus Hybrid....both still Fords and both still have major issues..one is just more expensive than the other

Ford Focus Hybrid: A Meh car...that simply costs more.
Pre Issue 13 Pvp: Meh pvp at best
Post Issue 13 Pvp: Meh pvp that costs more
Pretty simple analogy imo.
Simple, yes. Relevant, not even a little. Pre-I13 CoH PvP was some of the best the MMO industry had to offer simply based on pace and variety. Neither of those selling points is true anymore. That's what I was getting at - I have no clue what point you're trying to make.

It's not that i want a return to pre-i13 PvP so much as i would like to see many of the changes dialed back about 50% or so. i used to joke that if the players suggested three methods of balancing an overpowered set or mechanic that would each address the issue by themselves the original Dev team would then proceed to implement all three at once. Admittedly that was partially hyperbole, but it was also because the head honchos had less of a grasp of how the combat system actually worked back then, so throwing changes at the wall/game and seeing what stuck was actually almost reasonable.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
