PvP; why not?
Last nights Fight Night went over very well, lasted at least 4 hours with the most participation I've seen yet! Big thanks to all who came out to make it happen. For next week, I'm thinking of maybe Warburg, it'll put everyone at level 38 so that'll give us a few more powers to play with while still giving non-50's a chance to join in the fun thats 30+. And with it a free-for-all zone, not much need to worry about having more of one faction over the other.
So I hope to see some of the same participation for next week! |
Warburg sounds fun, can't wait!
Not sure how tough I'll be below 50, but I'll try to make an appearance this week.

I'll try to make it this week, but as of now, the wife is on the computer and not letting go.

You were wanting more people in your personal SG, right?
Pft. Get a second computer/laptop and convince her to play as well. Trust me, it makes a two person team go much smoother when you can just look across the room and ask "Who do we go for first?" rather than taking the time to type it in.

(In all seriousness, it would be fun and solve the compfights.)
That requires a job.
Something I am still working on getting.

We're a pretty fierce PvP combo when I can convince her to do it. Which is rare, the jacktards we used to have in the zones turned her off on the whole thing.

My wife and I play sitting about 2 feet apart all the time.

Especially when you can just put the idiots on ignore.
I think i still have some of the more malicious, loud-mothed players on ig status from years ago.

So, I hope to see a good turnout for tonight, happy fighting!
Thanks to everyone that helped make me a welcomed part of the community, and for giving me over 3 years of some of the best gaming I've been able to take part in. May the next game bring many friendships and maybe reconnect to some old CoH friends.
I suspect next Monday will have people using the new amplifiers now.
For the second week in a row, Monday Night Fight Night was a great success! Unfortunately I wasn't able to play the full time, but I was very happy to find out that it ended just before I logged back on and that people seemed to have a good time.
It seems that we have better turnouts when its happening in a zone that lower lvl players can access, so for the next round I'll take a vote for the zone we'll occupy, hopefully there'll be enough votes here that I can have it put on the PinnBadges MOTD well before Monday.
Again, nice fights Pinn! (even Kemli & Warlord's Daughter, who made my tank feel like a sleeping stalker )

If I happen to be logged in on Monday, I'll be wherever the action is.
The timing is inconvenient for me, that's why I haven't shown up yet.
If we do it in RV one of these weeks, I'll be bringing Claws himself (Ask Toi about him )
Lower level zones, probably a blaster or something.

Ok, didn't really get the response for this weeks zone I was hoping for, but with the Blockbuster Event live wasn't completely unexpected. With that said I'm also not really sure how the turnout will be this week, so I'm thinking maybe I'll just give the option on the channels between Recluse's Victory and Warburg again and that even if there will be enough interest this week to get it going. If not, Monday Night Fight Night will still continue, it may just need to bounce back after the thrill of the new event wears off. But I'm sure we'll see some good fights tomorrow anyways, so I'll see you then!

Claws is like a blender made of stone. You get shredded, and hurt yourself even worse punching back.
Any thoughts on a location for tomorrow?
My interest may be waning (I keep getting challenged by blasters who like to fly, immobilize me, and then I get to watch them kill me when I can't move and they are high in the air, but I am still willing to try.

A second build might be what you need.
Hurl and Fossilize from Stone Mastery are pretty decent ranged attacks for a tank. If you can somehow ground a ranged attacker long enough to joust them with KO Blow you could get a couple kills that way too.
Also, if you're dealing with attackers that fly, Air Superiority is what you need. I believe between Fossilize and Air Suuperiority you should be able to ground a flyer quite handily and pummel them into the dirt.
You can also use a Jet Pack and put your opponent on follow. It's pretty hard to dodge someone who is following your every move exactly.
Melee generally doesn't fare well against ranged attackers, but there are things you can do to even the odds a little bit.
Unfortunately, my computer is down right now, so I won't be able to join the fun

1)Get Hyper Phase from Warburg or the Ethereal Shift temp from Wentworth's. Use it when you get webbed.
2)Bring a tray full of greens, pop them every 7.5 seconds if you get tagged.
3)Use Sprint/Superspeed if you have it to run away from the Blaster.
4)Use cover and zone geometry to your advantage, if you're webbed then drop under and overpass and wait it out...or hit the highways.
5)If you're on a Brute/Tanker/Scrapper, use Taunt to reduce the Blaster's range considerably.
6)Team. :-)
Also:

Even if they did, Diminishing Returns would crush them.
Edit:
Claws, if you form a Duel Ladder make sure you turn off Healing Decay and Travel Suppression in Arena. You might also expect people from other servers to show up on Pinn if it's adverted, just saying.
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!
168760: A Death in the Gish. 3 missions, 1-14. Easy to solo.
Infinity Villains
Champion, Pinnacle, Virtue Heroes

I haven't decided if I'm going to form it or not. My interest in PvP comes and goes in spurts. I like it, but not to the point that it's a major reason to play the game. I don't really want to start something only to lose interest in it 2 weeks later and leave it disorganized or disbanded when I do.
Still kicking it around. Also need to get my computer fixed before I can consider doing anything at all.....

Hello everybody, sorry it's been awhile since I've updated this, but eventhough there wasn't any activity this week for it, Monday Night Fights is still active and will continue this Monday.
This week we'll be in Warburg (30+ free for all zone) and if there are enough 50's we may move over to Recluse's Victory. I'm hoping we'l see more activity in the coming weeks but I understand that it may still be a bit lax with the summer event still going but with enough advertisment I think we'll get it going!
