WP/Forget Mitigation Go Regen?

I've been playing around with Mids and can't find any way to get decent damage mitigation out of the set. However it does mad HP and Regen. Am I missing something or is that the way to go?

Build in this priority: Typed Def > Regen > Resis > Recov

If you can stack mitigation your character will be a lot tougher than just regeneration. WP doesn't deal well with burst damage unless it has a ton of enemies around it to buff its regen.

I can't remember if this is the build I have right now on my KM/WP, but at least it could give some ideas.

You should be able to get 32.5 SLFCEN, then use small purples. If you can get them to 30 SLFCEN, the DA temp will cover the rest. Otherwise go Sword/WP and cap them all. I generally don't build well typed, I prefer vectored, but I did well enough with Kat/Will. I have sense replaced the Kat/Will with a Staff/Will that was replaced by a Staff/Fire.

AF_Bill's build looks even better, defensively. I have no clue on the KM part.

I can't help you with KM, but here's a Kat/Will. You'll have to adapt it to KM and shift the defenses to compensate for the loss of parry.

You can cap S/L/E/N and still have around 650% regen with 1 foe in RTTC.

I had a StJ/WP build on here (I'm sure it shows up in forum searches) that did that, and a bunch of other builds.

Yeh, WP has no def debuff resist, but reaching the softcap on your own sure is nice and helps. F/C are the least important to cap in the game as it stands today.

This isn't my final build but it gives you and idea of how to look at things to softcap S/L/E/N. Certainly if you are up for chugging purples than putting more into regen or even +rchrg (depending on your primary, attack chain etc.) can be good instead.

If you can stack mitigation your character will be a lot tougher than just regeneration. WP doesn't deal well with burst damage unless it has a ton of enemies around it to buff its regen.
Willpower really depends on using all of the tools available to really shine. It's probably impossible to softcap defenses AND resistance AND Fast Healing and Rise to the Challenge at the same time with the number of slots we have -- at least before getting to Incarnate powers. The best thing to do is probably a multi-layered approach and try to work on all three.

As Santorican said, work on getting your typed defenses [especially smashing/lethal and energy/negative] up to decent-to-good levels, and see what you can do to slot your regen and resistances as well as possible -- within reason. Willpower doesn't have to reach Super Reflex levels of defense -- when a WP scrapper gets hit, they've got more resistance so less damage gets through, and then they can regenerate the hit points back. When SR gets hit, well, there's not much in the way of mitigation except for Aid Self.

Your best solution to burst damage is probably using High Pain Tolerance and set bonuses to increase your Max Hit Points!

Actually, Heightened Senses provides some defense debuff resistance, but not the huge amounts that Shield used to get. In-game, the Combat Attributes window shows my DB/WP scrapper as having 17.30% DDR from Heightened Senses; Mid's shows it at a (comparatively) staggering 47.3, which just seems way off. *confused shrug*

Been doing a bit of learning about WP recently. Here's something I wouldn't mind taking out.

WP already gives great regen with minimal slotting, what you should aim for is extra health and defense. Softcapping S/L should be your priority, with en/neg a close second. WP is all about layered defenses, if you only specialize in one thing, it will feel week in comparison to competing sets that are properly built. Also, the tier 9 in WP is great in that it's not a total crash when it wears out.
