Forum: DST corrections not working right

1. Automatic detection isn't working properly, at least not in the United States where it is observed. My time is showing as 12:01 AM when it is actually 11:01 PM.

2. Turning corrections "always on" changed nothing. Turning corrections "always off" changed it to the correct time. These two settings may be WAI but the intention seems off; since we're currently in DST, it seems like the correction should currently be on, then turn off (whether automatically or manually) when DST ends later in the year.

Yes, I'm set at GMT-5, but with corrections always on or auto, the time at the bottom of the page displays as GMT-4.

I presume you're EST based on your first comment? If so, then GMT -4 is what you should be at right now (and is what the bottom of the page should show). (EST is normally -5, but when DST is in effect, you jump ahead an hour, making you -4)

I glitched here as well. I'm back to normal now.

I know that Windows will attempt to set the time from some central time source, maybe that glitched. It would have been an interesting April Fool's joke from some hacker somewhere, turn time back an hour.

We non-VIPs can't even change the time setting.
Of course, it never really attracted my attention more than "the time on these forums is always off by a lot" because it is has always been set to GMT for me.

I can't access my own user page to access private messages or anything, except when it bugs to show me as VIP.

I wasn't talking forum software. The time on my computer was off by an entire hour earlier than it was, as if fall back from DST. Most odd.

I wasn't replying to your post either.
I was just pointing out that the forum settings being off doesn't surprise me at all.

Auto-correction re-enabled, everything works again.

Weirder still, just noticed this issue on a phpBB-based forum I frequent. How peculiar times two...

I guess it's possible I forgot how numbers work, but it seems unlikely.
