New Icons for Unconfirmed Heroes and Villains

We're seeing a lot of confusion on the forums recently about the difference between a hero/villain who has confirmed their alignment and one who has not, particularly when it comes to determining eligibility for Alignment Merits for completing SSA's.

To make things less confusing, how about having a different alignment icon for unconfirmed heroes and villains, keeping the ones that match the reward merit icons to indicate that the character is eligible for those rewards?

This seems like a useful suggestion. The only real reason the Devs added the "must be confirmed" rule to the game was that they wanted to make sure people couldn't farm these merits too quickly. But in their haste to come up with a way to slow people down they obviously didn't account for the idea that it would be hard to tell if a character was confirmed or not.

I'm not totally sure having different alignment icons is the absolute best way to deal with this. But as long as the Devs added something somewhere you could check to see what your status is that would be a good thing to have.

I would approve of this...

Maybe just have a smallish ? over top of/overlayed on the hero or villain alignment icon until you are a confirmed hero/villain

Aren't you confirmed as long as you have the relevant alignment power or the 7-day cooldown to receive it?

Or do you have to re-confirm if you go from one extreme to the other?

I thought you had to do a hero/villain morality mission while already a hero/villain but I'm not 100% sure - what I need is an icon.

No for the purposes of "confirming" your alignment the alignment powers don't matter. To confirm your alignment (any alignment) you have to complete a morality mission -as- that alignment. So for example to confirm being a hero you have to do 10 hero tip missions and a hero morality mission as a hero.

Yes you would have to reaffirm an alignment any time you change alignments or if you had a brand new hero or villain that has never changed alignments.

Okay, so whether or not you have the power only works for those who haven't confirmed their starting alignment. In that case i could see there being something to notify you. Perhaps on the Tips tab itself, just a text notice, rather than a whole new icon?

Right. You can say that if you have no alignment power (or one of the "countdown to alignment" auto-powers) then you'd know for certain that you are also not confirmed. But if you've ever completed any morality mission then your alignment power status can no longer be used to tell you anything about being confirmed one way or the other.

That might be one way to do it.

I think it would just be easy enough to add a new line to the Combat Attributes Window that would simply tell us "Alignment Status - [Confirmed] or [Unconfirmed]". They recently added a line like this for level shifts so it makes sense this kind of meta-info could be placed here as well.

That would also help to keep track of rewards' cooldowns. It's annoying to do a SSA or a DA arc just to see at the end that the rewards are not yet ready.
