Claws Suggestion

I think it would be cool if there was a "natural" claws option for say werewolves and other beast, monster or whatever themed toons. When you take the claws primary the toon simply swipes with their natural claws instead of the "retractible" ones currently available.

What do you think?

Devs said claws will get sum lovin soon... But not idea in what matter.

This would have to happen as a combination of a "natural claws" weapon option and alternate animations, because all of the animations currently have closed-fist animations, and most of them are not angled properly for true "clawed fingers" attacks.

Also, how do you justify Focus and Shockwave with clawed fingers? Just curious. Not saying don't do it because of Focus/Shockwave, but I'm curious what your justification/explanation would be.

I'm still not entirely sure I understand the justification for Focus and Shockwave with standard claws. It sort of makes sense using the Vanguard models, but with what basically amounts to knives....

It's always been one of those things I just sort of accepted and tried not to think too hard about.


FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Pretty sure this is the justification for focus and shockwave:


It's a REALLY bad justification. It makes just as much sense to be able to shoot talons out of your fingers as it does to launch the claws on the back of your hands.

As for the OP's suggestion, I'd even be happy with oversized hands to completely hide the existing model as with demon overlords and greater devoureds. (Not that those hands are hiding anything, but perhaps as an option to get around the current animation issue.)

Indeed. I've often wished for gloves that were designed solely to be clawed hands. They could be worn by anyone.

Giving the option of no weapon, and using those gloves would work for the concepts.

I made a test toon with the claws melee and tried the various beast/animals themes availble which now are quite plentiful. Paired with beast run this should have given such an easy, all incorporated theme but it just did not work when they attacked with the snikt wolvie claws. They def need to do a "natural" set regardless of how other stuff would work around it, the actual animations really wouldn't change much except for the hand being open instead of a fist.

No....they would need to create new animations from scratch, because those animations have the closed fist baked into them at the most basic level. They would also probably need to create a new combat stance, as Claws currently shares its combat stance with Dual Blades, Dual Pistols, and Spines. It's a LOT harder to do than you seem to be thinking, if it were not it probably would have been done a long time ago.

I know you're a pretty new player, but this has been asked for pretty much since day 1. Since you wouldn't have any way of knowing that I won't give you crap for it, but this is easily one of the top ten most requested things since the launch of the game.
