So what are some ideas for contest/events that you would like to see?

I will admit to a bias towards costume contests, but the two events I enjoyed most were these:

Round-robin costume contest: Players enter themselves via a thread, each player designs the costume for another player, and wears another person's design in turn. Players can exchange details, character bios, ".costume" files, etc. Costume files would be exchanged before the contest. All entrants then display their 'native' costume, then their new 'donated' design. The winning designer and the wearer both share the prize. This meant that you were designing for an entirely new character, all entrants had two chances of winning, (both by wearing and by designing) and you got to see someone else's take on your character.

"Wear a badge" costume contest. Make a costume that relates to the badge title a character wears. This was always fun to see, whether titles were taken literally or using wordplay/puns.

Dark Times at Paragon High:

Rules.

The TFs/Trial for this contest are as follows:

Death From Below: obtain all three badges for each team member.
Posi 1: lowest time
Posi 2: lowest time
Synapse: lowest time

Minimum Team Size: 4
Entry Fee: 0, 125 million, 250 million per team member. So a minimum team chips in 500 million, or 1 billion to the prize pool. Kult can pick the buy in...

Any AT is allowed. Any Combination of AT is allowed. Restriction is that the Primary or Secondary, must have Dark Control, Dark Affinity, Dark Assault, Dark Melee, Dark Armor, Dark Blast, Dark Meisma...or any Dark based powerset. Sadly, this excludes Warshades.

Goal: To get the lowest combined Time possible for the completion of Posi 1 and Posi 2, and Synapse. And have all of the DFB badges on each of the teammates.

Screen shots of each End time as well as a screen shot of the badges obtained for the DFB. Ideally, the screen shot showing the badges for DFB should include the teammates sighed up for the trial ahead of time.

50% of the pool will go to the winning team.

25% of the pool will go to the team with most deaths.

and 25% of the pool will go to me for the idea in the first place. Wait, no..that's not right. Looking at my notes..oh..

75% of the pool will go to the winning team

25% of the pool witll go to the team with the most deaths.

210 50s and still counting!

I don't understand the MOST deaths winning anything. It's rewarding players for a bad playstyle. The least deaths I can understand. The most is too easy to do. Just play fast, loose and careless. Or, stand on top of a tall building with a team mate who has recall friend. Fall off into a mob. Die, rez, port, repeat. Or even just pack yourself with rez inspirations. Rinse repeat.
NOT dying... now that takes skill.

Well...

Its Dark Times at Paragon High.

We are all using Dark powers if we are doing it right.?!

So...wanted to give something for the DARK SIDE!!..dum dum dun...

Also. If you get the fastest time..and have the most defeats...that is impressive...MOST IMPRESSIVE.

And..really..I have never seen a contest that included the most deaths...so..I get style points for being creative...

I kinda like the idea. I don't know about the buy in... I think that would limit participation.

Here is a thought

City of Mythbusters.

Teams pick a myth/conventional wisdom about the game and try to prove or disprove it.

Whoever takes the hardest myth and presents the most convincing proof or disproof wins.

Examples.

The idea that blasters underperform every other archetype, in every combination of powersets solo and teamed. Prove or Disprove.

Another could be that a league with no level shifts can't complete the dilemma diabolique. This was tried on beta with a heavily geared up but not ideal team. Maybe Protector can do better ?

i would be willing to help/do a no level shift DD and i would drag stone into it too

Having done a DD with a +1 level-shifted character, I can finally see what it is that Major T was talking about.

Still, I wouldn't say my character was "dead weight" or "worthless" as has been described by various players, either. I was still hitting enemies leading up to the Sentinel, and I was still dealing damage. Considering the fact that the teams were largely melee and damage types, too, with very little force multiplier support, I would say our ability to bring the Sentinel down to roughly 25% health before failure something of a success. I believe that even if everybody on that particular trial had been +3, with the same builds, we STILL wouldn't have succeeded. With just the addition of two Radiation Emission characters on the second run, we were able to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat.

I still stand by my theory that well-formed teams, with buffs and debuffs to toss about mixed in with those who primarily conduct combat, will outmatch raw numbers teams that struggle furiously to beat the clock.

My Stories

Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.

Let's please not get off track here. Kult asked for help with a specific topic. Let's not start on an unrelated topic, ok?

- If you'd like to open this for discussion, please start a topic. I've been thinking about doing that myself.

There you go, Kult. A Double D trial contest.

Perhaps a Double D trial contest for the least amount of deaths? Or fastest time? Or a combo of both?

I wouldn't put it out there as a no level shift trial though; I'm not entirely sure it can be beaten on flat 50s yet!

Unfortunately, due to the differences between trials and task forces, there is no reliable way to track time and number of deaths.

If she wants to go with the bust a myth theme there is another one I recall. Its the 8 Stalkers doing a LRSF (flat 50s). IIRC the original statement was by castle that it could be done by them with SOs and that was of course pre incarnate and pre buff.
