Staff Scrapper vs Staff Brute? Which do I pick?

What the title says. I know the values aren't set in stone yet so it's hard to compare, but haven't noticed much of a difference in damage when trying either on beta. Only got each to about 15-20 though, so it may still be too early to judge. Part of me says I should go with brute, but thought I'd ask the smart people first.

As with every other thread that asks this question.

Brute = Higher HP
Scrapper = Higher Damage

Choose.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

fixt.

Scrapper and Brute damage is quite similar when the Brute has ~75% fury and the scrapper has minimal damage buffs or when both ATs are damage capped. On the low end Scrappers will benefit more from initial damage buffs, but will even out with brutes at damage cap.

Also brutes will work better with sets like /fa, /dark, and /elec while a scrapper will work better with sets like /sd and /ea. /wp and /invul work on both ATs, scrappers benefiting from a secondary that actually has a taunt aura and brute benefiting from higher base hp and hp caps.

The choice of scrapper or brute is more about the secondary pick than the primary pick, imo. So it would be helpful if OP mentioned which secondaries he was looking at to pair staff with.

Pfft. Why choose, make both. Altitis = Win.

Yeah, if you're going /DA and just looking at making 1 toon then I would say Brute > Scrapper.

For a Staff character in particular, /da is a nice choice on a Broot. The damage aura is fury boosted (scrapper damage auras don't crit), and conveniently functions as a taunt aura as well. /DA is notoriously tough on endurance as well, so the Staff form that gives an end discount buff will be very helpful and make leveling way easier.

If they continue to allow the Brute ATO proc to regularly let Brutes hit 100% fury, then go Brute and use the endo-reducing form.
