Checking that box seems to have no effect whatsoever on whether or not you get the newsletter. I personally get 0-6 copies of each one sent out, seemingly at random.

I have learned that you are correct. I had that box checked and nothing in my junk mail folder or in box.

I received the newsletter on the 26 January. It gave the following dates for the weekly Strike Force:
17 - 23 January:
Soul of the Woodsman, from Numina in Founders' Falls; The Crystal of Serafina, from Ice Mistral in St. Martial
24 - 30 January:
Following Countess Crey, from Manticore in Brickstown; The Temple of the Waters, from Operative Renault in Sharkhead Isle
31 January - 6 February:
Eden Trial, from Woodsman in Eden; The Crystal of Serafina, from Ice Mistral in St. Martial
7 - 13 February:
Terra Volta (34-44) (from Captain James Harlan in Founders' Falls) / Tree of Thorns (34-43) (from Trepsarciel in the Nerva Archipelago)
14 - 20 February:
Alpha Strike (from Apex in the Rikti War Zone)

In the nearly eight years i've been playing i think i might've gotten one of the newsletters about six years ago. Never really worried about it since normally anything of consequence in the newsletter is also posted on the forums. Apparently this week's WTF is the exception. Maybe the Mods got locked out the announcement section?

Now, I'm sure they aren't just making it up, but I'm curious as to how they get to find out before they've posted it in the weekly tf thread.
I, too, would like to know well ahead of time what the weekly task force will be.
