Rebuilding my ss/fa farmer

Well, I have come to the conclusion my farmer is just not a farmer anymore. This toon was built back in i13 and had no issues farming Nemesis or Snake Eggs. However, with i21 out and AE missions slaughtering my toon, I am in need of some help.

This is the build as she is today.

As you can see, I may have gone a bit overboard with the purples and slotting for just having purples in the build...not so bad on Nemesis, horrible for AE Ambush maps. So this is my proposed toon's build after a half dozen respecs and playing the market.

I'll accept, theres nothing more I can do on top of my proposed build. Just looking for some feedback. Thanks.

EDIT: One thing i have though about doing, was reslotting burn with the -res proc instead of 6 slot oblit. I would drop below 44% def in S/L/M. Would the -res proc be worth the difference in softcap def in S/L/M?

As well, i tweaked the build a bit, this is my current proposed. Sold all my purples for 2 Glad Armor procs, 2 Shield Wall Procs and 1 Panacea proc + 800m.

What I farm are:

Warehouse ambush 53/8
Cave Patrol mobs 53/8

Can you define "purple farmer"?

Purple Farmer, a toon that farms for purple recipes drops only.

I used my SS/FA for ambush ticket farming but sadly after all the nerfs the time/profit ratio just isn't good enough for me. You might want to look at the build I ran anyways though- It's a fire exclusive, cheap and (at least formerly) effective build...It *was* capping tickets before Rage crash but now with the move to patrol farms I'm thinking I'll need to reroll TW/FA for the competitive AOE and no crash.

Edit: Incarnates are Agility Core Paragon/Ageless Core Epiphany/Ion Core Final Judgement/Reactive Radial Flawless Interface

I was under the impression that purple recipes do not drop in AE farms?

Thanks for the input everyone.

TwoHeaded, what nerfs are you referring to about the time/profit ratio?

Purples don't drop in AE, that's why they asked what kind of farming you were using the build for.

The decreased amount of tickets per enemy defeat is the most recent- That's of course after rezzed enemies stopped dropping rewards. At this point, clearing the front room of a standard fire ambush on 54x8 leaves you a couple hundred shy of 750 per run- Cave patrol maps are now the fastest/most efficient way to farm tickets and imo, SS isn't a good pair for that kind of farming due to the rage crash.

I know I am going to catch flak from this next statement, but i rarely use rage for the sole reason i hate crashes. I do not have MoG, Elude, Unstoppable etc on any other toon, nor do i have any nukes that crash.

Thus I tried to build it as best can be without the use of Rage. With this build now though, I am down 2 AoEs and an Immob attack (mu mastery) But have a huge increase of def for survivability.

I can usually do, assuming I do not get slaughted from alpha hit, a front room in ambush in around 5-10 minutes, after 5 runs I have roughly 3500 or so tickets. Not sure if this is bad or good or not, but it helps fund bronze recipe rolls. Which gives me some good recipes to sell at WW maybe 1/4 worth over 20m.

I usually do not do caves because i hate navigating them. But in order to level an sg mate or a friend I will do caves.

EDIT: What farms can be done for purple drops?

The good thing about Rage for ambush farming was that you could hit the ticket cap on an SS/Fire before the crash so you never had to deal with it. When you take rage out of the picture, SS falls on its face.

Edit, before the most recent nerf to ticket rates it took about a minute and a half to reach 750 tickets which is the max you can get from a run. I hope you meant 5-10 minutes to reach your inventory cap.

Any PVE map can be farmed for purples. Look for the Demon Farm in PI (I forget who the contact is) if you want to purple farm on a Fire Brute. Set your mission to -1x8 with bosses turned on. I personally farm the repeatable Borea missions in RWZ on my Warshade if I feel the need to farm for purples (which isn't something I do often.)

Well, I guess its something that im gonna have to figure out. If this build cant do it, then I will just reroll a new farmer into something that can do it efficiently.

I run a ss/fa/mu brute on the Cave map at +4/x8 and although I'm capable of having Rage triple stacked, I usually only double stack it. I have the auto-macro from pressing movement keys that converts everything into reds and purples and then pops them. As a result the "problem from Rage crashing" isn't even noticeable to me. I know there are "pure/he-man" types who swear that use of inspirations is somehow cheating, but I built this toon as my ticket farmer and PL'er (for myself and friends, not for profit) so I dont care about bragging rights in a videogame all that much.

Regardless, it was a build suggested in the "Very Best Farmer" thread months ago and even after months of AE nerfs, I easily PL a toon from 1-40 (private) in about two runs at an hour each (full Cave map).

Wasn't an expensive build either, other than the LOTG's and the normal run-up on defense sets in WW.

Original credit goes to forum posters Ultrawatt and Tourettes. Its a very good fire farming build. Just add the binds/macros I mentioned above and you are golden. Not much native defense, the requisite max +RES to fire and very high recharge so your AOE's are up constantly. Not a good build outside of the dedicated purpose for which it is built, however.

Before you ask....Jab is totally in there to slot Stupefy for the set bonus. I don't even have it slotted in my tray when farming, just the AOE's, Haymaker and KO Blow. Mu Lightning is decent for some ad-hoc herding of runners.

As you can see the builds are massively different and both are optimised

I currently run the ambush build on live and run something similar to the purple farming build.

General consensus is that TW/FA is only build that can rival SS/FA, but SS/FA still wins out. Mainly due to Rage....and the non-issue of crash from same.

Regardless, this thread is about a rebuild for a Ss/FA/MU.

The thing about ticket farming is that it's easy to keep your damage capped just using reds and not so easy on the caves to hit 750 before the first rage crash. You might say it's a non issue, but when rage is down you're not doing any damage at all and it effects speed- Plus you have to watch your endurance more vigilantly. I'm aware that this thread is about SS/FA and I already shared the build I have on mine as well as relaying past experiences with it.

Regardless of primary though, I think the best philosophy for a ticket farming build is to go for recharge and Fire defense. The original build posted here was lacking in the latter. I find that aiming for around the 32.5% mark on fire defense still allows you to build good recharge and not hurt any of the powers you'll need. Aegis, Scirocco's and Performance Shifter are good sets to include in a ticket farming build to help reach that goal.

Rage is never down on build I posted. In fact, you can triple stack it. When Rage1 crashes, you'll only notice END drop, which is covered by either Destiny or Consume. Rage2 continues right through the drop....and Rage3 as well if you invoked it.

Even if you reactivate rage immediately, there's still a period of -dmg.

Ok, attempted some ambush last night, using a half slotted toon. Missing most of my kin combats, but rest of the build is good.

Couple of things.

1) With the new build (have not respec'd to Rage yet still have Foc Acc slotted with Rectified Recticle) I can clean the front room in an ambush in roughly 3-5ish minutes.

2) After a single room, I had acquired on top of the 73 I had before starting the arc 1054 tickets. Where is the magic number 750 coming from?

3) I had no issues with health. Had to pop healing flames maybe three or four times in the entire time i was farming. I am still trying to find a template for the bind of converting extra insp to reds.

4) I had an issue with end drain, but consume handled this issue.

5) T4 Pyronic Core Final Judgement does not seem to be the best Judgement Incarnate Power. Would getting Ion Core Final Judgement be a better choice?

6) I have currently have Spiritual Core Paragon for Alpha. Am considering getting Spiritual Radial Paragon for the recharge, defense and speed increase. Thoughts?

7) Currently slotted with Barrier and seems to be a good fit. No issues with regen or recovery, especially considering I am missing a good lot of my IO bonuses. Suggestions for different destiny?

8) As I said before hand, I am a bit slow on killing, but I am hoping that with the addition of rage and using Vet powers that are not affected by rage, I can kill faster and ST bosses with wand/staff/ghost slaying etc.

9) I also ran a few trials last night as well. Keyes/TPN/BAF/SLAM and had zero issues with fighting with the exception of the EBs in TPN taking the alpha hit out on me. Other than that it looks like i have a solid build.

Thanks all for the build posts. Gonna try and find that demon farm and test this build out on that as well at 54/8. I am hoping that I do not require Mu anymore to be a "non-profit" farmer. I do not PL lowbies unless they are friends.

Thoughts on building a second IO build for purple farming or a second farmer different AT etc ie FA/FM/Pyre tank.

1500 is the max amount you can get per run. Once you reach 750, clicking the glowy will put you at 1500.

Yes.

Spiritual doesn't give +defense. Agility Core Paragon will give you +rech, +def, and +end mod though.

Ageless. Barrier shouldn't be necessary if you build a good amount of fire defense.

Apologies, meant to say Agility Radial Core.

Other than checking my salvage inventory and counting tickets, how can I tell how many tickets Ive gotten before glowie?

What is the mission name that is the demon farm? As well, is it given by Unai Kemen or Harvey Maylor? I have seen posts that both give similar missions.

EDIT: As well, the Battle Maiden farm from Maria Jenkins. How is this one for a purple farming map?

I'd like to have a couple options as far as farm maps go. The demon farm, Battle Maiden, and a third.

Turn that into a bind. Using your W, A and D keys (your normal movement keys) auto-combines 3 of anything into reds. Pressing both mouse buttons simultaneously pops the reds. I don't combine purples but rather swallow them as needed which isn't often.

Rage crashes will hurt your END, but you can save Consume for those times and keep on killing. Stacking Rage keeps you from suffering the -DEF issue so no issue there. I also have Destiny Ageless and that fills your bar, making invoking Judgement Ionic followed by Ageless a great combo to use if Rage crash hits when you are swarmed by critters. Judgement also ignores the Rage -Damage crash, but that's piddly as it only lasts 10 seconds anyways. I'm usually moving to grab another group or just holding aggro in those minor instances when that happens.

Ion hits far more targets, more than you can aggro. Its a great way to whittle down the mob next door while you are finishing up the first.

Alpha Cardiac, Interface Reactive, Destiny Ageless, Judgement Ion. No END issues, Recharge is insanely high. I may have gone Agility instead if it had been available at the time for Alpha. Again a good reason to have Ageless is the +Recharge and a full END bar when invoked. The faster you kill, the less defense you need to worry about. Dead critters are no threat.

More recharge. Recharge trumps defense on a pure farming build. I cycle Footstomp, Burn, Fences and Ball Lightning and by the time I'm clicking on Lightning, Footstomp is up again. Non-stop. Boring but faster than hell and the damage mitigation from knockdown helps with defense as well. Recharge, Recharge and MOAR Recharge.

Obviously, to get T4'd out on my toon, I had to run dozens of Trials. I also do occasionally farm Maiden's Warrior map. While optimized for pure Fire Farms, without the ambushes, you are seldom in any danger as long as you are only taking on single spawns at +4/x8. You just kill too fast for anything to be a huge threat. You'll die occasionally, the RNG just wins out. But that's where ROTP comes in. Its best to play a farming brute build like a scrapper I've found. Since you took Barrier, you likely have little issue with Defense, but if you swap for Agility or Clarion, you'll find that you basically are a squishy with a fast and great heal. Very survivable...just not godly like inside the Fire Farms.

Just my two cents....worth even less than that at WentWorths.

Great advise!

thanks for the help with the bind for the insp combo

probably will end up purchasing a respec tonight and respecing to rage.

Going to do some trials to hopefully hit t4 ageless, t4 agility and t4 ionic tonight.

Still trying to work out some deals with kin combats...

Although T4 is obviously better, I really found I was fine with T3 on Ageless and Reactive. You def want to T4 your Alpha and Judgement however.

Good luck!

For a fire brute to seek out a demon farm is ridiculous. We hear over the chat channels that the demon farm is "Teh awsomeness" - But, it's not. Not for a fire brute.

Infernal Demons come with a 20% resistance to fire damage. Easy to overcome, sure - but why bother when you can eat freaks or council that have 0% resistance?
